Close to three years ago I picked up the first volume of the Nodame Cantabile manga, and I quite liked it. I did not continue reading it past the first volume*, however, and later decided to watch the anime instead. I figured that since it's a series with music as a central theme, a medium with audio would be better at presenting the story.

Is this assumption correct, or does even the Nodame Cantabile anime suffer from adaptation decay? I might start reading it again regardless, but I figured I might as well ask around first before deciding.

*Not because I disliked it, mind you.

The Anime adaptation just misses out on a bunch of the pliot, but the two are similar in quality to me.

i just have to say, for a show that relies so heavily on the sound of the music they are playing, i just cannot imagine reading the manga in silence and getting the same effect

Jizzy as you would call yourself because youre a dick The most butthurt award goes to you And clearly you havent watched that many shows thats why you cant determine if a show is unique or not Or maybe you're just a child who likes common stuffs where hero saves the day and guys gets all the girls. Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

The manga is better story-wise as it seamlessly tells the whole story from start to finish without "season finales" and "special episodes" disrupting the flow.

The music helps you get immersed with the material, but it doesn't really matter if you don't have an ear for classical music. That, or it can be an immersion-breaker if you start thinking about stuff like "did they record this specifically for the anime or did they just use an old recording? Then what about Nodame's quirks?" etc.

The manga does its job as a comic book, it tells you a story and a damn good one at that.
