THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I enjoyed this much more than I expected to. Mika had a huge head, but she was adorable and the animation was great. I just love how honest and understanding she is; I'm happy that her father was able to be honest with her in the end. Such a touching story with a silly premise. |

Amazing! These guys are geniuses. A simple story done right and the animation is fluid and very much movie worthy. It was very easy to fall in love with this family that only got about 25 mins of screen time and their daughter Mika was just adorable to watch as she went on her little dream adventure. 5/5 |

I was afraid I wouldn't like it since the bad rating on MAL before. Glad to see I'm enjoying more than I thought. It was a charming story. I like the characters and great animation. :) |

I really enjoyed this more than I expected. The colors were what made this magical for me, though. They were striking, vibrant, and I felt life behind them. Mika was also adorable. |

What a simple and cute story, even her baby sibling was fun to watch even though he/she wasn't doing anything at all. XD The ending was heartwarming for me. |

Aww, that was cute. I still find the octopus' "death" disturbing. Poor inflatable creature. |

Thought this one was pretty boring myself. The thing about "papa" not keeping his promises and the thing about him being afraid of the water don't seem to connect. He didn't go to the beach because he was called away to be a lackey, not because he didn't want to go. If he had, say, shown relief at not having to go to beach, this would have created some tension, making Mika's worry that he just didn't want to play with her seem plausible. Instead we know that's not true from the start. Revealing his fear of the sea first thing also seems like a strange decision when Mika is the main character and she doesn't know about this until he tells her. Shouldn't the audience be the same way? I also question the presence of the action scene. It didn't really seem to do much for the story. Is it there just for its own sake? Do they think their story is too boring and need to distract from it? I did like the finale where they go to the beach to fulfill the promise even though the sun is going down. Fairly touching. |

^ Person above me is looking way too much into this anime. It's an animation for younger viewers. I love this anime. It was so heartwarming. It reminded me of a Disney movie. Such a sweet film. I'm happy I watched it - it was so worth the time. I loved how understanding Mika was. Why can't there be more family orientated anime like this? |

Best part was the end. Inexplicably touching. They had nice music, and even the ending song was very pleasing. And then I remember all the shit I just saw for the past 20+ minutes. This is so not for kids. It was rather horrifying. Okay not as much, but if it was, then that would mean Little Mermaid isn't for kids too. Fuck me silly in the nipples. |

Dream part was pretty weird and I didn't really like it but rest of the story was fine and animation was quite nice. Katou Emiri did great part of voicing Mika. Nice fairytale for children I guess. 6/10 |

Easy story with an easy animation. I guess the dad has overcame his fear of the water thanks to Mika and Juju or Dudu ( whatever its name was). I wish the dream was real because I kinda liked that bratty Mimika and the scaredy turtle. To me the dream was more entertaining than the actual story. oh well, its a 6/10 |
