Or is there? We may find out.

I've noticed both Asai and Toku who did amazing things for Kurosawa did it out of a place of relating to how he felt due to their own hardship.

Also, it was nice to see Kurosawa be around these residentially-challenged folk. I was so glad that they didn't pick up on Kurosawa hiding from Anadaira. It would have only reinforced the negative stereotype Toku wants to get away from. Kurosawa may have slipped up a few times but he was trying to be thoughtful about it. It was sweet in a way. To think about how it's not that bad to be seen with the homeless and to try and understand why he hid took me by surprise. Then later he thought about paying them back and wondered if it was rude and he couldn't quite leave without saying anything even if he didn't want to be seen with them.

Obviously the hiding came from a place of not wanting to be seen with homeless people for his image, right? He just justified it in a typical rash Kurosawa manner. It's sad because Kurosawa himself knows what it feels like for people to treat him as an outsider very well due to similar reasons.

It was also nice to see Anadaira. The, 'it couldn't have been him, here of all places hanging out with the homeless?! It's astronomical!' made me laugh. But moreso, I liked how we saw he had sympathy for Kurosawa. He implied if it was possible he would want to help him. And it's fitting, for who else knows Kurosawa's problems than Anadaira. It's not family or friends whose called when he's in jail, it's always his boss. So, to have a small look into his unexpected cycling and his sympathy for Kurosawa was a nice surprise.
