Great episode, with a touching ending.

You've got to love Gintama's versatility.

amazing episode! I love Gintama for the crack but when it's serious it blows everything else out of the water.
And I love the relationship between Hijikata and Okita... Gin-chan is always so insightful :) ahhh I just love everyone in this series.

now cant wait for next ep's crack, they usually come with power after the rain xD

I guess I missed the earlier sub for this episode, I just downloaded Rumbel's version.

And what can I say...it was beautiful. It's episodes like these that made me give Gintama a 10/10, the show really is a masterpiece.

Unfortunately, I watched ep 86 like a year ago - someone amateur subbed it and put it on Crunchyroll. I remembered exactly what happened, but I still kinda wish I watched 86 again, I think it would have had an even bigger impact on me.

=o= It was the most heart-wrenching episode of all of Gintama so far. I don't think they had any jokes in the episode other than a couple subtle ones. I'm a HijitakaxMitsuba fan now, haha. xD

A lot of people whined about the previous hard-boiled arc but this arc has been way worse and predictable with really atrocious music you'd expect to hear on a badly produced nature documentary. At least the hard-boiled arc was unpredictable with the wackiness, and also you know, actually funny (granny on a moving floor).

Easily one of the five best episodes of Gintama. I love that the show is done by Sunrise because they do the action scenes justice. It was so tragically sad... I love it!

Familly on the moving floor joke was lame imo.

Otherwise this episode was awesome, I really liked this arc even if it's not the best Gintama did. I always was a fan of Sougo and still even more now.

I agree. I wasn't really very moved at all by this arc and frankly found it to be pretty boring. On the other hand the Hard-Boiled episodes were quite funny (I don't get why everyone on mal seemed to hate them so much).

Great episode, best arc so far...what a emotional ending...
Now I like the characters even more! :-)
(I hope Kagura will appear in the next ep now; she and shinpachi hadn't a single second screen time in this arc! But actually that was good, in this way they could focus more on the relationships)

I love Gintama for its goofiness and random stupidity, but it's moments like those, when Gintama gets serious that I love it the most. T__T
Hijikata is one awesome bastard. Also, ZOMG, he blushed XD

I wasn't moved, but I really liked the background and character development in this ep., which was lacking from the hard-boiled arc....

The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

I hated it. I don't understand why there had to be stupid romance in it. Made me like the anime a little less. I'm glad he didn't end up with Okita's sister. I would have dropped this anime immediately.
