Hello everyone, this thread's about wheather Lelouch really died or not. There's a popular theory going on that Lelouch is alive & he received Charles's code. But sorry to break this to u people, Lelouch is stone dead!! I hav some very concrete points to prove it: Please read fully: The director himself confirmed it in a magazine to stop rumours that he's alive... All the videos r fan made so don't believe in them... Such a long death scene could'nt possibly be fake.... Also so many people had died because of him,so its impossible for him to make a clean slate, without some punishment. As for him stealing the Emperor's code, the code must be given willingly and cannot be stolen. Also, other immortals(VV & the nun who gave CC the geass)died after the code was taken from them. But the Emperor's body disintegrated, which means the code went with him. And as for Lord Jermiah smiling in the end,Jermiah agreed to serve Lelouch because he was Marianne's son & he declared that Empress Marianne was his master. So if Lelouch had just told him that he was the one who killed Marianne, then Jermiah would hav willingly supported zero requiem. And Nunnally seeing his memories,it was probably a way to show she realized.Because if Nunnally just saw lelouch's memories...would'nt she know he is immortal?..Because seeing somebody's memories is unnatural...so if she saw them did'nt she wonder why she was suddenly seeing them? Then she must hav figured out he was not normal, but immortal...because she already knew abt geass and immortals. Then why was she crying? Another example is Suzaku's tears as he stabbed Lelouch. The fact that he cried in that perticular moment as he pierced Lelouch suggests that, that perticular moment was his moment of death. Because if not theres no need to cry as stabbing him's just an act for the people. And don't tell me Lelouch did'nt tell abt the code to Suzaku, he's not that kind of person. He's more of the kind to bear all the pain himself. Besides the one biggest point which proves his death was CC's tears. She definately would'nt hav cried if he was gonna live. Also there was a simillarity in Lelouch's death & Euphimia's death. Both died being hated & and with everyone screaming Zero's name aft they died.Which implies that this is also Lelouch's punishment for killing Euphy . And the director has also said that Lelouch's body was kept in Damocles & sent to the sun.It makes sense too. Because Damocles getting destroyed represented evil & hatred getting destroyed. So its only logical that the symbol of hatred : Lelouch was sent along with it. In fact the primary reason Damocles got destroyed was bcoz it was Lelouch's ship. And remember the last thing that Lelouch saw before dying was the sun? CC too looks at the sky/sun while talking to Lelouch in the end. So with his body destroyed without a trace, how can he reappear, even if he had a code? Besides CC addresses Lelouch in the end in the same way she used to address Marianne, whos physical body has disappeared. So its safe to assume that, she was either talking to his sprit or addressing him in fond memory. The beauty of the ending is in Lelouch's death. It would make so much sense if Nunnally was crying while everyone celebrated his death, only if he was really dead. And the fact that we still don't hav season 3 proves it!! If u want further proof visit this thread: http://animeotaku.animeblogger.net/2008/10/code-geass-r2-another-nail-in-lelouchs-coffin Most people say he's alive because wat happened to him was so unfair and they want to convience themselves that the ending is a more happy one. But they just need to understand Lelouch is doing this as a redemption for his past sins. For all the people he has killed or caused to die, for the people he has manipulated, and as compensation for using Geass on people. If we believe (as I do) that Lelouch is atoning for himself, then he’s committed himself to death — it just wouldn’t make any sense if he was still alive. |

hmmm we'll just wait in 2010 if its really true. but after Lelouch has stabbed i didnt see Lelouch in the ship and being destroyed. i was curious like "why blow the ship because it was the His Highness Ship". well never mind that i believe he's dead its stabbed in the heart.. no one can't retrieve him back... lol xD if i were in his shoes. im sure im 100% dead by then. Depending on the makers of Hangyaku no Lelouch if they want to release a new season or maybe not. but if they really pronounce it. i'll look forward to it... ^^ |

Wow, thanks for noticing the similarites between Euphima and Lelouch's death, that is totally awesome how it's true. We all know her death was an accident he regreted, he loved her, and Suzaku, the other half of the Zero Requiem, did too. Plus the fact Suzaku stabbed Lelouch as Zero is like him figuring out what it was like for Lelouch to have to kill Euphima after she became evil, even though it was actually his fault... The last thing is the fact that Lelouch was declaring himself as good and not evil and trying to clear his slate. Unlike the Emperor, who wanted a perfect unlying world he could live in, yet still killed many and lied himself to get there, Lelouch didn't do it out of selfishness, he did it so the others could live peacefully, and as long as they did he didn't mind dying. Of course his brother was different considering he wanted to rule the world in a pause of technogy, which was much more greedy and cold. The only way Lelouch could be the good one was if he payed for his sins and didn't do it for greed. Oh wait, I remember one greedy reason, even though he did the whole thing so his sister could live in a peaceful world, his promise to her in the 2nd or 3rd episode (even though he was a tiny bit late) he also did it so his sister would love him again, cause with her hating him he couldn't go on for long. |

And the conclusion is final: if there will be a season 3 it's going to be a big piece of shit, because I can't imagine a CG without Lelouch. It's true, the ending was fitting, but really sad nevertheless. I still liked Lelouch, even if he did a lot of mistakes, he was still a genius and he never lost his feelings [like Light did, from Death Note]. Still, it's sad to see it end. Do you know any more similar characters to Lelouch [besides Kira/Light]. I would love to see another anime as great as this one. |

Another piece of proof he's dead: The bottom lining of his eyes are grey right before he dies. This is how the anime depicts dying people: The bottom lining of Shirley and Euphie's eyes were grey as they died, so the same applies to Lelouche. And I think C2 was talking to Lelouche in spirit at the end; that's why she's looking at the origami crane. |

HOW FREAKIN DARE YOU!!! lulu can not be dead! your wrong! i wont beleive anything you say, my lulu is alive, who gives a crap what the director said, as if he would give away if he was going to put lulu in the 3rd season so naturally he will lie and say that he is really dead, HE IS NOT DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Lelouch is alive. And you can saw it in the final scene, where C.C rides in a cart and A man who was driving the cart is Lelouch. He was sitting in a hat, so... Near C.C is origami crane and it could made only Lelouch. So he is alive. |

Well i could go on and on about how i disagree with you but i don't think anyone wrote better (well from what I've seen) proof that Lelouch is indeed alive http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=54714 Also why would the creators of the show even leave all these things to create debate, if they wanted him dead they would have made it like Cowboy Bebop where there was no question on the ending, but no they left it up to interpretation, and there are those who think hes dead and those who think hes alive, as for me I'm of the latter group for many reasons stated in the link. Also to add to what was written about the crane, think about this for a second,Why would C.C have a crane? OK lets say she just like making them (which is a stretch considering most things have meaning, and it was lying there in one, if not the most crucial part of the show) if you take a look you will notice it is closer to the driver (Lelouch) than it is to her. Also the crane represents Nunnally as she was the one who was making them throughout the show, and could strongly suggest that is a memento for Lelouch to remember her, since he wouldn't be able to see her again because she may be fine with it but others... ya so it would have ruined the Zero Requiem and made what he did pointless, it would also leave him explaining how dead people come back to life... |

When the directors leave an open ending of any anime to interpretate (about the protagonist's life), it doesn't mean he's necessary alive. There are evidences that supports Lelouch may be alive (immortal) and so there are evidences that Lelouch may be dead (plus interview with the creators). So it's 50%/50%. There's no such a definite ending; fans can deduce themselves about what would be Lelouch's fate. I think that the creators are happy acknowledging that fans can think of Lelouch's fate. The directors are fine wether Lelouch is alive or dead. Fans are free to choose (that's what the directors want), a free choosing ending. There's no official ending, unless the director confirms it, personally, I'm neutral with it. Yeah, the crane could represent Nunnally, but take in count that CC was making cranes along with Nunnally (the pink crane), which was unfinished because Lelouch interrupted her. Also, perhaps the crane could also symbolize Lelouch (not necessarily Nunnally) and CC is taking it with her (as a memento) in order to remember Lelouch and her moments with him, and of course Nunnally, who taught her to do cranes. As I said before, it's an open ending. There's no official ending. The directors want that every fan could choose the ending they want :) |

Lelouch is definitely dead. He died to atone for all the people he killed. If Lelouch lived, it would mean he simply cheated death and is truly a terrible person who would rather live out his own life than redeem himself for others. |

I don't think so, is because C.C. said at the final:the power of kings, known as Geass, brings one solitude. Not quite accurate, is it? Right, Lelouch? And one more problem, why C.C. rise her voice when she said: Right, Lelouch? because she was talking to the man with the hat. |

doesn't matter to me whether he's dead or alive....the only thing matter to me in Code Geass is C.C real name but there's one point that I still being skeptical about....or two... "As for him stealing the Emperor's code, the code must be given willingly and cannot be stolen. Also, other immortals(VV & the nun who gave CC the geass)died after the code was taken from them. But the Emperor's body disintegrated, which means the code went with him." Didn't Charles took V.V. Code by force? if not, please quote/link proof please. Beside this point, and the confirmation of the director (did he clearly stat that he's dead?), every other points here are just assuming and purely subjective and can be easily overturn. Sure, they do fit in to a certain degree but that's all. I also agree that he should be dead.....for the sake or that drama ending or that would be just pointless and stupid but would also interesting. I guess the only way to convince me that he's dead is to actually have the scriptwriter stand in front of me and scream that he's dead.....or just prove your two points I raise above. |

After watching the entire series again for the, like 5th time or so, in the end it suddenly occured to me there could be another solution to the problem. What if Lelouch became God. Not literally of course, but he could've become one with the Collective Unconsciousness, could he not? C.C. has shown the ability to be able to communicate thelepatically with people who are linked to C's World so it would make sense. The way she talks to Lelouch in the final scene also resembles the occasions on which she was conversing with Marianne, seemingly talking to herself and to that one time with V.V. who, as a fellow immorta,l is also linked to C's World. However I'm not entirely sure yet of how he might've done it. Maybe it had something to do with the moment he influenced the Collective Unconsciousness with his Geass or something or maybe C.C. had something to do with it. I just thought I'd put it out there. However if anyone can give me a good reason why this isn't a plausible solution as to what happenend with him, I'd like to hear your thoughts. |

But if the Geass affects both his eyes --> he reaches the final stage of immortality --> how can he die by a siingle stab if he is immortal? Oh and the scene in the end proves my point too: Lelouch lives on! |

I find it funny how people believe Lelouch is dead just because Ichiro Okouchi said his "story" as vi Britannia ended despite the director Gorō Taniguchi saying himself that the ending can by interpreted by the viewers themselves and how he's listed dead when he's listed dead as Lelouch vi Britannia and not as Lelouch Lamperouge. If he really is dead, why can't the director just say so himself? Why go after Ichiro when all he said was that his "story" ended? Of course his story ended lol, he's not Lelouch vi Britannia anymore after all. ...Isn't it more awesome to interpret that he's alive to begin with? Which badass can say that they faked death and achieved what they wanted at the same time rather than be the ordinary martyr (which he achieves too because only C.C will know that he's alive)? Lelouch Lamperouge can! Also in the original DVD you get to see his face at the end. So again, it's up to you to interpret if he's alive or not, I just find it funny how people say it's confirmed so get over it and all when it clearly isn't lol. |

Is that exactly what the director talked about the ending? So he just said the story had ended, not declared that LL was DEAD? Ok, so if his face is in the original DVD, which DVD is that? If so, isn't it clearly that LL is NOT DEAD. Why so many people are still arguing. The debate has been out there for... well 4 years? Are you sure about the DVD stuff? Anyways, LL is alive forever in my mind. Nevertheless,I will be happy enough to die if LL alive is real. One more thing, why people keep saying that LL has to be dead because he killed a lot of people. That's so stupid, how can you make a revolution without sacrifice? |

Ending. (just saw it) C.C did a head movement of looking up either at the sky or as it is normal to do when speaking to someone above ones head aka in the direction at the front of the carriage not to mention C.C also raised her voice asking her question as if wanting it to reach above the noice of the carriage. Not only this but there are also the fact that people have been able to. His mother a great example to leave the body and enter others. C.C also has two personalities the second never revealed in the show. Now as also said the C system is a collection of peoples minds in the episodes explanation one could say as a geass user Lelouch will remain alive in there talking with C.C until he is called out again if needed in the future. Also here nothing was really said in detail. Death is not only in body and this Anime leaves so many open trails and opportunities for the future of the Geass universe. I fear it could take a turn for colonial war (gundam) or other similar shows perhaps?? Nothing has really been told about the background causing this shows events to occur. You could say as mentioned here before Lelouch did die or he sacrificed his chance to be with the ones he loved...he truly lost all that for peace...but did he disappear?? People they might have pulled a Gordon freeman on us...if anyone remembers the ending of Half life 1??? :P Also this is quite a good thing that was well thought trough hehehe ^^ http://animeotaku.animeblogger.net/2008/09/code-geass-r2-25-so-is-lelouch-dead-or-not/ These guys cover most of it. -Paladin said: Unless another season is ever announced, he's dead. That's like saying "I've never seen a watermelon, therefore, watermelons don't exist". Charles killed V.V and gained his code. Lelouch killed Charles. It's not rocket science. Also, to everybody saying that it would ruin the series if he turned out to survive - you're wrong. Whether he died or survived, both endings would fit perfectly with his persona. |

Let me just say to those saying that zero requiem will be meaningless if Lelouch didn't really die, that death would be an easy way out for him. If he really wanted to pay for his sins then it's just fitting that he lives with himself for all eternity, tormented by everything he did using his geass.. Also maybe C.C.'s thru desire is to just not to be lonely for eternity. If all you remember he said to C.C. that If she's a witch then he will be her warlock! Both of them being immortal the contract with C.C. is fulfilled. Maybe that's what C.C. meant every time she said that she won't let Lelouch die. I choose to believe tha Lelouch planned Zero Requiem to get back japan, clear Euphy's name, provide revenge for Suzaku, provide a better world for Nunully, Kallen and his friends, fullfill his contract with C.C. and to live and suffer for all eternity as payment for his sins.. In the end he won the chess match and got everything he wanted. Lelouch, Lelouch, Lelouch! |

I have to say that I don't believe in any of you. Because as CC says "right, LELOUCH?" in the very end of the episode - a breeze goes through her hair comming from the direction of the crow. AT WHICH THE CAMERA ZOOMS IN ON THE CROW... LELOUCH -> crow This just tells me that she's communicating through C's world with him, as for how this was only able with marianne because she had that specific ability there's never been any displayed criteria for CC's telephatic abilities... And as to why this more likely than the crow just being a momento and the wind an act of aesthetics - there was no way why CC's would have had agreed to Zero's Requiem if she wasn't going to be able to in some way live with Lelouch... And I also think this is a terribly melodramatic ending to a really exciting show that however was way too obviously modified as it was being made. |

Here's my theory, at the end of the second season C.C. was talking like she usually would to Marianne, so what I think happened is that Lelouch's Geass evolved and probably hid in someone's body. Which was why C.C. was talking in the end and she said Lelouch at the end. Also, Lelouch may have been in the body of the person driving the carriage which is why their face was covered, I mean, if a usual backround character was driving the carriage then there would be no need to hide their face, right? Anyways just my theory and I hope that Lelouch makes a reappearance in a later episode of the third season of Code Geass. |

On the Japanese version ofvthe anime at the end we see of u watch English sudded u will see his trademark smrk on his face that only he did and that his dad chok him with his code and cc voice got higher at the end like she was talking to the diver in the 3 season only in English sudded we see him and sazago and it seems he lost is momorys about his geass and what happan and in episode 2 or that season he said water if u watch in English sudded that is the some voice actor in japan and that smrk again and in the last episode his death look fake and if he died he would of died right there when zero killed him instead of going down to his sis. But as we see he was in the ending in English dudded we did see his face so i look at then side and they both look alike |

Frankly, I don't give a piece of chicken finger-doodle what the director says. Their ending gives people enough speculative evidence to suspect that Lelouch may be alive. The evidence isn't conclusive because we don't know, in detail, how Code transfer works (you really expect me to think that VV gave Charles his Code willingly when VV was about to die himself?) or how Nunnally's "6th sense" works. We only saw Nunnally use it as a lie detector on her secretary. We can't assume it can give detailed intentions. Even the ending scene with CC can be explained in different ways. Take it face value, and she's talking to the driver. Or add in some Code Geass background, and CC could be talking to Lelouch in C's World. Or if you want to be metaphorical, CC is looking at the sky as if she's talking to a dead person. |

Ok you wan't a proof? see the final scene of R2 first, he's been stabbed right on the heart. who doesn't die after that? second, since been stabbed right on the heart, he's lost a LOT of blood pressure. who doesn't die if you lost a lot of blood? third, after being stabbed, he fell from about 8-10 meters high with heads hit's first and his blood scattered all over the place. Again, who dosn't die after that? and fourth, there's no medical support during the event. did you see a ambulance in whole area? no. did you just see a prisoners? yes. What proof that dosn't right from that? -well at least he could say his final words to his sister |

Um just a question. Isn't the new "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection." enough prove to see that Lelouch is alive? It is a SEQUEL that takes place AFTER the "Zero Requiem" plan and features LELOUCH HIMSELF. Goro Taniguchi already confirmed that Lelouch Vi Britannia is indeed ALIVE in the new Code Greass. He is not an alternate version or a clone, but the true Lelouch. However, they did not reveal whether the sequel will be a TV anime or a movie." I believe, that should close the case. Lelouch returns in a sequel and it is confirmed by Mr Taniguchi, that he is the original Lelouch, who SURVIVED the stabbing. Now that we have this information, it is clear that Lelouch is alive and no theory and argument can change that. sources: https://myanimelist.net/anime/34437/Code_Geass__Fukkatsu_no_Lelouch?q=Code%20Geass%3A%20Lelouch%20of%20the%20Resurrection https://wowjapan.asia/2016/12/code-geass-lelouch-of-the-resurrection-announcement-pv/ |
