Great episode. It looks like the show is finally getting some momentum and really getting into the meat of the series.

I'm looking forward to where this is heading. Like gc said, not only is there the normal pitcher vs. batter competition, but owner vs. Toua conflict as well.

Now this is what I've been waiting for. I'm glad they didn't waste any time in bringing him on the team and there are a lot of possibilities as to where the series goes next. I look forward to seeing more.

One of the exciting anime this October. I was glued to the screen from the start and grinning whole-heartedly through the whole episode. I'm hooked.

Looks-wise and some of his character traits (calculativeness, manipulativeness, maybe some of the mind reading and who could forget their cockiness), Toua reminds me of Hiruma (Eyeshield 21), although, this one is more cold-blooded and doesn't have any guns around, yet.

I love OP song (my third fav after Kuroshitsuji and Kurozuka) and the way Toua carries himself is a sight itself to see.
His blatant arrogance is a welcome change from Kaiji.

Something fishy is going with the owner and I don't doubt that he'd find some ways to punish Touma for disgracing and mocking him.

watched episode 3 and just loved it.
i just like the hole feeling in this anime and its so suspenseful.
i cant wait to see what the owner is gonna do now because after only a few days he already lost 270 million yen to him xD hes gonna go broke fast!!! :p
i love the OP for this anime to, it probably makes up to my top 5 favorite OPings this fall season.

this animes is just amazing and this episode was awesome.
i rate this episode a 5 out of 5 and my overall score goes up from a 9 to a 10 out of 10. i just hope this anime will stay as good as it already is :)

i'm done watching this episode. Toua is just so damn awesome. I agree that his attitude is really a surprising change from a lot of stereotypical characters in anime i've seen. I was glued to the screen from the beginning till the end. The tension and the whole feel of this episode was great. Kudos to the staff! I honestly have no idea where the storyline is headed, which makes it all the more exciting.

I think toua is like goro from major, he can only pitch fastballs but he mastered the control well before goro knew how.

This is continuing to be a great show, its a little darker then what i have seen from other sports shows which is a plus its nice to change things up a bit, we will see how they handle his character if they will make him like a akagi where he will win every time which i doubt it it would be boring watching him pitch perfect game after perfect game so when people start to get hits off of him that is where it will get interesting

Good God, this show is just too friggin' WIN. Toau just continues to be an even more awesome character after each successive episode. to gamble on his salary like that takes balls of steel and I look forward to more amazing feats from the guy. (like 100 innings without giving up an earned run.lol)

Bleh. Toua is just too strong. Best I'm hoping for with this series is a repeat of Akagi.

Hes goona turn into one of the richest people in the world at this rate!!! atleast on paper, they will go bankrupt before they pay him. xD

Although when is the part where he starts to struggle. I like watching someone always winning but I need atleast a challenge.

He's throwing a mixture of fast balls and slow balls. The fast balls seem to be on the inside corners (like the catcher said) and the slow balls down the middle. The professional batters are used to fast balls or fork balls being down the middle so it's understandable to get caught off guard by a random slow ball when you're think he's gonna throw a fast ball. This is why all the batters in the dugout where commenting on how easy his pitches where and how at some point they would get a hit. They thought they would get a hit but then he would change it up at the last min.

I like this episode mainly because the black chick wasn't in it. I'm still not to happy with his constant winning though. If it continues like this every ep then theirs really no point in watching since we know whats gonna happen. I hope they mix it up at some point and make things interesting.

I just rewatched this episode, but there's one part I don't get. I might just be baseball stupid or regular stupid or forgetful, but I was hoping someone could explain it to me...:

In the Tokuchi vs. Kojima at the beginning, before Kojima hit the third pitch, the score was at 2 strikes and 0 balls. Then Kojima got hit by the ball. I'm thought One Outs didn't follow regular baseball rules (because strike only counts in the box zone, etc.), so any ball that didn't make the strike zone, the last throw, would've just counted as a regular ball, making 2 strikes and 1 ball. But Kojima won... So getting hit = automatic out for the pitcher?

my understanding was that as the batter got hit by the pitch, he could advane to the next base, meaning kojima won.r refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hit_by_pitch

But then according to that article... Kojima didn't attempt to dodge the pitch, in fact he sorta threw himself at the ball... So it should be counted as a strike.

liked this one, but accidentally went to ep 3 discusion instead of ep 2 so marked it dislike, assuming anyone cares.

so what's a normal salary?

looked it up, minimum pay is $400,000 (I assume this is per year). if he pitches from the first inning to the last without giving up a single point, then he'll make about 1.2mil per game. its no wonder the owner is a tad upset ;)

anyone know how many games there are for a single team in the Japanese baseball season? assuming they go to the championships and including preseason games of course.

"The way he pitches is beyond my understanding." - LAME! LAME! LAME! Way too lame of a explanation to give us.His pitches are neither incredibly fast, nor are some kind of hard-to-hit breaking balls. No,they aren't,but still the pitchers miraculously fail to hit them each and every time.A major let-down...
However,i will hope for more considering the show's good reputation and it's creators being Madhouse.

Another very interesting episode. The anime grips me so much when watching it. That's a ton of money that Toua made in the first few pre-season games, but I doubt it can last forever. I can't wait to see what type of obstacles he will come up against in the future.

Great episode!
I was about to say why they didn't mention if he break Toua's arm?
I wonder he plays with him at ore season did he? Or he did not play?
Dang when Toua told the owner he will pay the money if he lose or the owner will pay him, I was impressed and getting even more interested. 270,00 yen holy shit that's alot. I wonder how he pitches so well?
Regular season is about to start, and there is rivalry getting started. Can't wait until the next episode!

That first pre-season game was a great slap in the face to the company owner. I bet with that 8 point lead, the other team didn't really care about getting anymore runs and Toua used that mind set to his advantage, scoring him all of that money :p.
