Okay so i saw the cover art it looked cool to me.
also to follow in the lines of higurashi and umineko these type of horror but sort of supernatural i decided to download and read shiki.
Well how often does what i thought was gonna be a main character just get killed off right away specially a cute main character like her.
well the first two chapters got me intrigued so i want to read on.
what does everyone else think so far?

Haha...yeah, I was pretty shocked to see her killed off so soon. Though I agree, it's much better that way.

I'm liking it so far - it's not fantastic, but it's setting up something interesting. This early in the story, anything can happen.

I didn't like anything about Megumi. Her attitude, the clothing she had, her name... o_o So I won't miss her a bit. xD

I'm just glad the bitch (Megumi) is dead. And I hope she stays that way.

Yes, this. Seems interesting enough, and considering its a collaboration between Fuyumi Ono and Fujisaki Ryu I have high hopes for this one.

well, i liked that sudden change of characters... too many deaths.. too many coincidences.. I would end it after 5 chapters... because now it will develop into regular vampire manga and this way it was interesting...

Ah, but then again. Even for a vampire manga this is definitely unique. I'd stay with it. :] It gives me the chills.

I'd kill to draw like that. Anyway, putting that aside...The one thing that intruiged me the most is that there so far doesn't seem to be any set maincharacter. Well, yes, the priest and the doctor are the characters printed on the bloody cover - but they are more slipped into the story than brought. And I love the idea of every villager having their own file and file number. Are all the 1300 villagers documented like that? Will we meet them all?
Will they all die?
Those are the thoughts that first occur to me. It is a cliché, no doubt about that, and the thought of vampires first hit me not half way into the first chapter - but I'm going to keep reading this, hoping for something unique to unfold.

It's so intriguing, the deaths and the cause. The doctor and priest seemed to lock on this yet they don't know what it is.

All I can think while reading this manga was Stephen King's Salem's Lot, it is almost the same setting. Small town, vampires moving in big hunted type house.
