| Wow, what a chapter! Ruri unloaded all her concerns onto Kashiro! They are all valid concerns, but Ruri is not in a good headspace to think straight. I'm a bit afraid of what's going to happen in the next chapter... (I feel like she she just needs to let off some steam, but you can never predict an angry teenager!) |

| The greatest strength of this series showing again this chapter - the author's ability to write natural dialogues with supernatural topics. Ruri's frustrations breaking out. She just wants people to be honest and treat her for who she is not what she is, including not getting special "extra nice" treatment from Kasahiro. Her powers malfunctioning and Ruri wanting a break feels just in line with the reader wanting a break within how many things seem to be piling on. Between the ominous conversation with the teacher and mom and the newfound worries over Kasahiro's clique, a breather is certainly needed. |
| Ruri's concerns are natural. But, is Kashiro "at fault" here? Imagine someone you didn't notice or care about in class, suddenly get some cool supernatural powers. You'd start taking interest in that person, naturally. Especially if said person isn't an ass and easy to talk to. Why not? Are you at fault for not caring before she became popular (especially is said kid is quiet/not socializing)? I don't think Kashiro has/had ill intentions and started being friends with Ruri purely because Ruri's trending in school right now lol. Maybe she doesn't realize it for now as well? Sure, she decided to be friends AFTER Ruri's dragon powers were revealed (and probably wouldn't have noticed Ruri otherwise) but that doesn't change the fact she wants to be friends now. On that note I think Kashiro got hurt by Ruri's words about "hanging around ONLY because I'm half-human". Kashiro's "oof" response and glance to me looked like they were not honest and meant to "bite back" at her for devaluating their relationship. Ruri was pushy there so Kashiro could've gotten annoyed and answered that way to piss off Ruri, which worked. Wonder how this develops later. Mom and teacher dialogue sounded ominous. Ruri on FIRE at the end! Hopefully she can control it before her clothes burn down! |
