The direction for this ep is literally a treat for who has watched shoujo anime in 2000s. This kind of creativity storyboard, u won't see much in modern shoujo anime. Someone call several different moments with the same shots in this ep is lazy animation, but no it make this ep stand out even for this season. It was a way to make us feels that the time passes, and how Ishimori has changed especially with these shots having the students being together. This animation style make Kare Kano so popular back then but nowadays ppl see no movement = bad animation :/. I hope smth like this will appear more in the future

I agree, whether it was rushed or whatever I don't know but for me this was shojou anime as an actual artform, not watered down or westernised. Not that I've watched much of Kimi ni Todoke, but it reminded me of that.
Also, people never forgive JC Staff for OPM2, but they've done great shows like Saiki K, Tora Dora, Food Wars, etc.

I'm sorry but that Karekano example is a horrible example, that show turns into that to fill in when director was fighting the author, is quite literally reusing assets.

@FreedomKME I assume u say that based on the information director left the production midway. But it was a misinformation, he just left for 1 ep due to creative differences, then came back

I agree that the direction was better in this episode.

The fact that we had the best direction in the episode with the worst animation, makes me think that the animation is the bottleneck. They could have this fine direction because they didn't have to animate most of those scenes, as complex shots are difficult to animate. In the first few episodes they had to settle with sub-par direction because the animators simply couldn't handle anything complicated.

@LordJehZeus

Do you think the animation was good? Honest question, not trying to troll. :)

IMO this is the show with the worst animation I'm following this season. It doesn't prevent me from watching it because it has potential and delivers in terms of character development, which is what I'm usually interested in.

But I still think the animation sucks big time. Not the direction, at least we got really good direction in this last episode.

@Kyou_Ryuu it didn't bother me, if u want to talk bad animation, i'm willing to show you example and then you tell me if that's on that level. I think recently little babies are so used to s-tier animation that everything below it is unacceptable. Sure i saw few things, was it enough for me to get titled about it? no.

@Kyou_Ryuu I don't criticize anything that I can't improve myself. I take the show for what it is and not what I think it should be. If I enjoy the story then I'll watch it (I am enjoying it btw). I'm just happy I have an endless sea of anime to watch.

Can someone explain me, what were the girls laughing about after Ishimori fall from her bike and they came to help her and asked her what to do? they just started laughing randomly and i didn't get it? was it because she froze and couldn't respond? or did i miss something embarrassing?

I understand that there might be worst shows in terms of animation, but this doesn't make this one good. You can compare crap to vomit, it doesn't mean that crap is good (just to clarify, I'm not saying that this show is crap: it's just a random example).
The fact that it didn't bother you is OK, but people might have different expectations. It didn't bother me to the point of dropping the show either, but I will still say it's bad animation.

@LordJehZeus
Very positive attitude. :)
Still, I think people should criticise what they don't like, otherwise only experts from the same field could criticise each other. If I go to a restaurant and the dish I ordered tastes horrible, I'll complain to the chef even if I'm not a chef myself. Customers have the right to criticise a product, and this show is a product just like a dish served in a restaurant: we are paying for it, although indirectly.

@Kyou_Ryuu I have to reply here since I can't contact you anywhere else lol

Sending you much love <3<3. I love Clannad and I can confidently say that it shaped my life. It's been a while since my last rewatch! Sometimes I'm scared to rewatch because I don't want to ruin my memories, I'm scared I might not love it as much as teh first time...

Sending you a hug ^^
