As the heading says... What's the tone in this one?
Is it more serious (Ofcourse I don't expect it to be as dark as say Hannibal?, but still, I am hoping it doesn't have any cliche gag comedy)

Or just cute girl doing cute things vibes?

It’s a bit of everything. The science is ok but they twist reality a bit to make the plot easier to follow. There’s some murder, and quite detailed at times. The main is incredibly cute with high IQ, and sidekick-kun isn’t limp either, not a bad pairing. Some believable side characters. And there’s occasional comedic stuff but not slapstick.
Obviously just watching it will be more useful to you than reading this, we all have different tastes and expectations.

(As of Episode 5)

Since you mentioned Hannibal, I'd say House M.D. is the show that's pretty close in tone, in addition to the story format.

It's all very "let's solve this cool mystery" with some smarty-pants snark (definitely not as savage and witty as House, though). No overt "gag comedy," but there are amusing interactions and the occasional cute characters, like the nurse who gushes over the genius doctor.

This is not cute-girls-doing-cute-things like K-On or Yuru Camp. It's pretty grounded and focused on the case/mystery at hand; there's almost too little charm or character work, in my opinion.

People do sometimes die/get murdered, but there hasn't been too much gore or disturbing violence. I would say the show sometimes gets unintentionally ridiculous and wacky, because the actual logic of the case and medical conditions can get forced and implausible.

It's really a light hearted version of US medical detective shows like House I'd say.
As for quality it's an OK watch with an eccentric female mc, with strange crimes being solved with her encyclopaedic knowledge of medical conditions. It's just a fun show, neither great nor bad.

There are jokes here and there, but it's mostly focused on the mysteries. It's serious in that it takes the mysteries seriously, but it's not really dark or dramatic. I guess I'd say it's serious but not in an intense way.

It's neither CGDCT nor a very dark and heavy drama or thriller.

Genre-wise, it's more like Mystery + Drama + Slice of Life + Comedy, or Mystery + Dramedy + Slice of Life. Mainly mystery though. Other genres take a backseat as just supporting elements.

Meaning it's about as intermittently dark and lighthearted as an equivalent genre hour-long American live action medical or police procedural show. It focuses on death and subject matter which would be considered "morbid" (as disease and ill health would by many, generally) in each and every episode, but at least thus far there are no major consequences for the main characters (not that I would expect any so early in, even if it was a different type of show) and they have a casual relationship with friendly or teasing banter even while navigating serious and sometimes dangerous situations.

By "cliche gag comedy", there are no cutaway chibi segments or anything like that if such is kind of what you're getting at. Because there are no fantasy segments or exaggerations on that level, and due to the modern and realistic setting of just being in the general hospital, people's regular houses, etc., it does feel very grounded.

It reminds me of a series designed to be watched by - and which you could easily envision being enjoyed by - a wide demographic range. Both in terms of age and in terms of fans of specific genres, because it doesn't lean too heavily into the "extreme" of any one genre so as to maybe alienate audience casuals. So far it would be a very serviceable introduction to medical dramas/dramedies if one primarily or exclusively watched anime and wanted to start getting into this type of show.

Because I would love for someone to correct me if I'm mistaken, but I don't think up to now there are any examples of it in anime despite it being a popular staple on something like American television for decades. At least none prominent enough to catch my notice, and I would think I would have heard of another one by now considering I searched for this exact type of show in anime for years before this debuted and came up empty.

The House comparisons are good. Or maybe a mashup of House and Castle, but with less flirting and the occasional bout of silly anime humor.
