"Why did they find out?", shouldn't it be "HOW did they find out?"?

I mean, it could just be plain out ENGRISH, but it makes me think that maybe the author didn't fully think on how to convey to us that this was WHY-man.

The why man name is what the voice says. "Why..." Why have they done something. If they have done it, discovered it, there is not really question on the how part.
