I'll admit that I have been using AI software to iterate through concepts and provide reference images for some of the artwork that I've done by hand from scratch here and there.

Some might say that this makes me a traitor to the cause of bona fide human artists... I just see it as taking a pragmatic approach while acknowledging the value of authentic craftsmanship over mere prompt-writing.
The technology is interesting; I got some unusually impressive results using a friend's AI to help him test it. My biggest issue is that it's likely going to lower the bar and barrier of entry. Real "artists" are most likely to feel undermined by it.

@k0m0d097 Some view CGI as traitorous. Are you using that software that helps you do keyframes and stuff?

Please be patient, I have autism. It's difficult for me to express myself through words or put my thoughts into words...

I wouldn't say that it really lowers the barrier of entry, more like it just lets you quickly spit out specific results for an overall concept based on the prompt you type in. You can think of it as doing an image search on google/pixiv/some booru website and filtering your results so that they're taken out of a parallel universe where you can't pin them down to any particular artist (even if they might be copying the style of a known artist). If anything I think that it raises the bar that real artists have to meet in order to keep monetizing their artwork, all the while AI artists aren't exactly reaping in any credit in their place, judging from the overall negative reception of AI that you'll find on just about any art platform. Sometimes they get away with making suckers out of people who'd actually pay for AI generated images even while knowing that they're AI, simply because figuring out how to use AI for average normies is like an AI artist figuring out how to find success from doing art by hand. Which brings me more over to why it isn't exactly lowering the barrier; being able to run AI software on your own device takes relatively high-end hardware, and while there are online platforms you can use in case yours doesn't meet the requirements, there are quite a few out there that come with their own limitations on what models or features you can use, and how much you can generate before they end up charging you to keep using the service. CivitAI is probably the closest you can find to a one-stop shop for all of your AI image generation needs, but even then, they're plagued with service issues on a regular basis, and you can't use the generation service for all the models that you find there. The paradox of choice on its own might be enough to make you decide to pay someone else just to choose for you (and even then, I reckon their ability to monetize it would largely depend on them not telling you exactly which platforms or models they're using to generate their images).

As for CGI, I have used Blender to make a handful of brief animations which I've used as portfolio pieces, but I wouldn't call it my specialty as of yet. I think that only the most die-hard trad luddite artists who typically have nothing to do with manga/anime or any industry use case of art in general would have any beef with artists using CGI, and they'd be worth taking seriously.

I hate AI. Everything that is done with AI looks disgusting. And in general its complete degradation, AI should be banned and considered as a crime, because of AI people will eventually stop creating something themselves like drawing, making music, etc. and AI will do everything for them.

Maybe these idiots who created AI would have first created robots to make people free from hard and routine work and not deprived humanity of what only people can do - creating art.

I did for a while - in fact, my sig is six different AI images based on the DYLBG girls - but I've fallen out of favor with Yodayo and I'm trying to find a new generator that's not censorious or expensive to use.

There is a AIbooru now.

I keep my prompts down to about 80-100 characters and around 1 or 2 steps with drawing assistance and the most basic drawing software, as in I can't even rotate the canvas lol.

@mal_user_2022 Never has been, and never will be. Unless it violates any of the existing rules about image-posting, like unmarked NSFM, or content so extreme that NSFM spoiler marking isn't enough to excuse it.

I make (or generate, if you insist) AI art, it's fun. I do it on Nightcafé and post my pictures only there. I enjoy collecting likes but don't exploit the system by flooding my profile with images that I know others will like. I just do it for fun, experiment with new styles, and don't post 20 similar pictures next to each other, hoping that users will give likes for all of them. The challenges are also fun when they have a theme and not "no theme, pls join and submit something so I get a badge"

You'd have better luck actually finding anything on AIbooru

i will never make AI art, it's disrespectful to all the artists who have spent years of practice and hard work to get to the skill level they are at now. generative AI destroys creativity, and people that excuse themselves by saying that they cannot dedicate the time and effort to draw and would rather use AI to draw for them are just sugarcoating the fact that they are lazy...

You're not making anything, you're sitting around as the images pop up in your screen effortlessly. The only thing you're "doing" is harming small creators and feeding the corporate machine.

I use AI pictures the same way I would use stock photos.

I have tried to "make" nsfw stuff just to see how it would go but Its not something that I regularly do.

I think its a useful tool if used well, but on its own its not anything.
