Any info about a Sequel?

I'm not informed about the source material (and also not really interested) but do we have ANY information about a Sequel?

I mean, many people hated SAO, but we're that far in and as an anime-only I'd love to see a continuation or at least an announcement, if we get something in the future.

Yeah, we haven’t had much news since last season came out. But I would assume they would start adapting the unital ring arc when the light novels of Unital ring have been completed. (And btw the unital ring arc is insanely good from what I remember)

I’m sure sometime in the future we probably will get another season but it hasn’t been announced or anything.

The games are still being pumped out and progressive is doing its thing so I assume something will come eventually. SAO is still making good money.

The only thing I know is a new movie will come out which will be canon to the anime at least like Ordinal Scale.

With that being said, I'm glad I gave the franchise another chance because Alicization is simply amazing.

Well according to lightnovels are 18 adapted so far. The upcoming movie is probably either the small arc in book 19 and 20 or something new.

For more anime seasons is it a bit more complicated. Since as far as I know was the alicization arc first really adapted, when all the light novels about it was done. The Alicization arc was also a part of the original Wendover, while all that comes after was not, so this might make it take longer. The next big arc is 6 books in at the moment, so they might have started preproduction, but don't expect to hear something for another year.

Though of this is just educated guesses from my side, though I hope it gives some insight.

i mean i’m pretty sure we won’t get anything any time soon. i haven’t checked in a while but i think the same studio for sao does solo leveling. and the hype for solo leveling is too popular rn. so that prolly takes priority over sao atm.

There isn’t enough source material for another season (well not to adapt the whole final arc into one season) but they could do a movie to bridge the gap as there is material for that

There should be a sequel since the producer once said in an interview they would adapt SAO as long as Kawahara keeps writing. Still to know when it will come.

There hasn’t been a light novel for Progressive since 2021. I really wish they did a series instead of movies too 😭

Going off what the final episode of Alicization said there’s a very real possibility we don’t get an anime continuation. But it could happen. Initially that was the original finale.

Alicization went on for 10 light novels.

Since then we’ve had two Progressive anime films. No news on a third yet. No new Progressive light novels since 2021 but there’s 8 of them.

Moon Cradle didn’t receive an anime adaption though it did make it into a mobile game.

We got a season 2 to the Gun Gale Online spinoff after 5 years.

The only other new SAO anime project news we’ve received is they’re working on a new original film.

The Unital Ring Arc which the creator Reki Kawahara proclaimed would be the final arc is at 7 volumes and still ongoing. It’s possible it ends up as long or longer than Alicization. And like everyone was saying if we do get an anime it won’t be until it’s almost over potentially.

He is also working on the finale to his other series Accel World. While also working on his series, The Isolator and his new series Demon’s Crest.

my guess is that they will produce next season when SAO light novel ends.
so don't expect new season too soon my guess 2030

Right now focus is on solo leveling as soon as it's over we will get the unital ring arc adapted cause SAO is what made A1 pictures popular cause the animation and sound design of SAO is simply amazing.I still get chills over 'Release Recollection'.
