How does Dio know the power of the ripple? (As he directly mentions it at 9:55). Also, I can’t believe he can drain his blood, freeze his body, and in turn freeze others (with literal ice) — on top of being a vampire and knowing how to counter ripple techniques.

At this point in the series, I’m still wondering when Stands will come along. And when Dio will gain his ability from the OVA’s to manipulate…

… and how did Speedwagon thaw Zeppeli’s arm? By simply pressing it against his abs? Lmfao. Mere surface body heat shouldn’t be enough to thaw a frostbitten arm. This is all too fast-paced, plot-convenient, and illogical, surpassing the comedic outlandishness JoJo is known for.

Speedwagon. He reminds me of Polnareff from Stardust Crusaders lol. They radiate the same energy.

A final thought… the beginning narration say that the entire town would be wiped out? Later in the episode, Dio stated his intentions to turn everyone in the town into zombies to overtake England. With this in mind, did the narrator just spoil a huge chunk of the plot? Did the narrator from the beginning of the episode really tell us the significance of the town Dio was in before Dio could reveal it to the MC’s?

" HOW MANY BREADS HAVE YOU EATEN IN YOUR LIFE?? "

Despite the show's faults, it DOES seem to come up with something golden every once and awhile.

The "do you remember every crumb of bread you've eaten" analogy was actually really clever in conveying Dio's body count. It really highlights his evil intentions/deeds, and cleverly too.

That's one of the few praises I will bestow upon this episode. It is the least a gentleman can do.

Dio is really overpowered, Jojo and Zeppeli are in disadvantage against him.

I'm not sure that putting Zeppeli's arm in his abdomen will help against a frostbite, but at least Speedwagon is trying to helping.

Speedwagon is so hot that his abs heal hypothermia.
Also JoJo queen Elizabeth will haunt my dreams
Man, listen to them tear into me. Good thing I'm used to it.

Joe's power is basically ''hope'' pretty normal stuff.
Dio revived 2 legends. What a man.

Dio asked me, "how many breads have you eaten in your life?", I thought "wow I've eaten a lot...what an evil bastard he is".

Tarukus and Blueford has appeared to fight our group, as Dio watches along from the bird's eye view. And with the way that the two warriors are fighting, JoJo and the injured Zeppeli is gonna have a lot to tackle with if they want to stay alive. Nice change they did for the ED though.

"How many Breads have you eaten?" Nice Dio. Loved the example. The backstory of those two warriors was great.

Meh, I wish there were more reasons to back up on why Dio is just straight up evil, and that he devours humans to gain more power, it was an alright episode.

"How many slices of bread have you eaten?" - That's another line I have heard about quite a lot. That said, apart from those two knights' backstory, a pretty lacklustre episode, what with hope being a power-up.

trying to rewatch after dropping jojos, really want to get into it. part 1 is still boring. almost every character is one dimensional, and hamon is a lame power system. show is a little bit better after i stopped taking it as seriously, but i still don't like this part.

No lo odié, pero no me gustó. Me esperaba otra cosa.

I disliked it (2/5)

@kxbby I agree. I'm watching it for the first time. I loved the first three episodes, but since chapter four (introduction of hamon), I lost interest. I'm gonna drop it for a while. I'll watch it eventually, but for now I don't have enough patience to see one dimensional characters monologing while fighting with the power of the lucky chosen one. I've seen too much of it lately, I came to JoJo's looking for a niche unconventional story without the classic cliches, so I'm really not into this right now.

This episode couldn't pierce through my ADD like most episodes do. I might skim through this one before moving on to episode 6.

Such a great episode here, so many things to take from this: Zeppeli and Jonathan walking on water thanks to the ripples, Dio revives two convicted felons from the era of Mary Stuart and Queen Elizabeth I and not forgetting Speedwagon with his abs trying thaw out Zeppeli's frozen. XD

God the more I watch the first part of Jojo, the more crazier it gets and I think I like that aspect of the show really. Plus it did have the best dialogue exchanges so far that I've seen of this show:

Zeppeli: Tell me to undo your injuries...how many innocent lives have you taken?

Dio: I don't know. How many loaves of bread have you eaten in your life?

(Zeppeli gasps)

Johnathon: DIOOOOOOOOO!!!

Just epic. Especially the response Dio just gives is just reeks of asshole and I love it. Plain and simple.

@Jiborjas i'm replying to this pretty late, but i actually powered through this season of jojo. personally, part 1 was utter dogshit and i stand by what i said previously, but part 2 seriously surprised me with how well i got into it (after a slow first few episodes.) so i would say give that a chance at least.

This is getting better! Dio is able to bring back the dead. I thought that Speedwagon was going to be dead weight, but he was helpful. I'm ready for the next episode!
