@ricardopetrere, calling it like it is.

I liked this series at first, but now it's just drama upon drama caused by people simply not talking to each other. Or at least not talking to them when they're awake. But it's mostly Chinatsu's fault, tells the guy to back off and then gets jealous when she sees him with someone else. Geez, make up your frickin' mind, girl.
@Thoguht And they say Komi-san is the one with communication issues...

I was getting a bit annoyed after the last couple episodes, but this episode won me back over with yet another classic trope, the misunderstanding.

This show is so unapologetically cliché and I'm all for it. I'm now appreciating it for what it is, which is the most cliché and generic story paired with beautiful character designs and artstyle. Style over substance but in the best way possible.

Too many shows these days try to subvert the trope, introducing new elements and twists to keep the story fresh, but they end up failing. Keep the story as bland as possible, put 100% of the effort into the art direction - boom, AOTY

Literally Chinatsu towards the end.

Glad Hina has gotten more time to shine in these last two episodes after all of the fumbling and bumbling of the other pair.

Another cute episode. The festival was pretty beautiful as you'd expect. Taiki did meet Chinatsu at the festival with the little lost girl and they did have some cute moments between them. It was pretty cute. Hina looked so beautiful as well and the way she was flustered when Taiki called her cute. So cute. Also, it seems like Chinatsu thinks Taiki lied to her about the group thing. Misunderstandings. Chinatsu is not sure about her feelings about Taiki, either.

Aww, Hina getting all happy when Taiki called her cute was such an adorable moment. Seriously, that scene was pure fluff. But man, I can't tell if Taiki's just clueless or straight-up dense about Hina’s reaction, especially with that "Girls..." comment after the fireworks scene. Like, bro, READ THE FUCKING ROOM LOL. Also, I had a feeling he and Chii would cross paths eventually, but right after Hina gets her little moment? Oof, that timing hurts.

That said, I’m really vibing with Haryuu and his girlfriend’s dynamic. Hot take, but I already like them more than the main couple. Just saying. And Taiki, my dude, you really left Hina hanging like that? But okay, whatever, 'cause Chii is out here suppressing her feelings while Hina’s fully embracing hers. Not that it actually evens things out, but hey, points for effort. At least Taiki realized he left Hina alone for way too long xD

Anyway, everything got resolved without any big drama, so I guess they're playing it safe for now. Wonder if we get a new OP and ED next week though.

Tbf this is about chinatsu embracing her feelings not suppressing them. She’s finally acknowledging she finds him attractive and that he’s someone she’s starting to like romantically. But with confusions as to whether he’s dating hina, means that if he is she’ll put the kid on them and stay out of the way. But if he isn’t she’ll accept these feelings, remove the line she drew and see where it goes.

Honestly that fireworks festival date ended pretty unsatisfied with everyone. Hina got called cute once, then cucked for the rest of the night, while Chinatsu made some memories with Taiki then had to go back to her group and felt lied to unsure if Taiki is dating Hina or not, Taiki still just thought of it as hanging out so it wasn't even a date in his mind, then cucked Hina and spent too long with Chinastu but then even when he came back he still was thinking about Chinatsu.

We also see Haryu's showbiz girlfriend Karen who's also friends with Chinatsu. Haryu got the best girl ngl. But she had that dead mom hair cut though...worried...I hope she changes that.

Episode took a mostly predictable route with Taiki splitting off briefly from Hina to meet up with Chinatsu, although there was a bit more to it than just that as we see Haryu's girlfriend along the way and him and Chinatsu try to help out a lost girl. Chinatsu's showing a hint of feelings and jealousy too after seeing Taiki and Hina walking together in the festival alone and not in a group like Taiki originally claimed, got to love our classic misunderstandings in romance anime. Hina did kind of get done dirty there with how long she was left alone and almost forgotten about it felt like. At least I'm caught up with the show now, hope the opening stays the same but I doubt it. The show's fine with some good moments and characterization but also some pretty generic and underwhelming moments too alongside Taiki's wishy-washy characterization at times. Drawings and characters look good but animation for some movements and actions have been a bit inconsistent after the first couple episodes so I'm fairly mixed so far with this.

This was a nice and cute episode. Also Chinatsu’s behavior near the end makes sense when you consider her perspective:

1. Chinatsu is determined to win the Inter-High before graduation and doesn’t think she has time for dating.

2. After staying with the Inomata family, she grows close to Taiki but notices Hina’s feelings for him. Not wanting to be seen as a threat, she sets boundaries.

3. Despite her efforts, Chinatsu realizes she’s developing feelings for Taiki. Seeing his closeness with Hina makes her feel uneasy, and she begins to distance herself to avoid interfering.

4. When Chinatsu sees Taiki alone with Hina, unaware the others canceled, she questions why he didn’t mention it and feels conflicted. She doesn’t know Taiki likes her and assumes there might be something between him and Hina.

Her words at the end reflect her confusion and attempts to bury her emotions, but the heart doesn’t always follow logic.

Very strong character writing here and I'm all for it!

So much unfortunate timing, Chinatsu sees the two together and thinks it's a date. Hina wore a Yukata, did her hair herself, was all flustered by him calling her cute and yet Taiki is oblivious to Hina liking him, ditching her for 20+ minutes, luckily she turned down that other guy.

Taiki and Chinatsu really look like mother and father. She's also told her friend about her crush, Haryu's girlfriend, who's heard stories, probably has put the two facts together.

She knew Hina liked him, but now she thinks Taiki lied about them dating, she'll give him the cold shoulder more, I bet.

Hina's expression as she made her choice was cute. Damm Haryu's GF sure was stunning. Im glad that Yume and her mom were reunited. Taiki's drive to improve as ever was impressive. Unfortunate that Chinatsu is misunderstanding something here though.

I'm starting to feel this way, too.

I've been pretty annoyed with this show so far, but just seeing these pretty characters having a good time at the festival while looking at each other wistfully was pleasant enough. I don't really care about their feelings and their predicament that much though, and I doubt that will change.

I kept waiting for Hina to somehow see Taiki and Chinatsu walking together. Glad it didn't happen, it would've made for some cheap way to insert drama. The ending was a much better way to go about that.

This episode had a lot to unpack.

First, the overall date between Hina and Taiki was cute, until Taiki went to the bathroom and left Hina alone for so long, like, c'mon, you don't leave a girl there alone for so long!
But while they were on their date, we could see that Chinatsu was really disturbed by that. After that, when Chinatsu and Taiki were taking care of that child, we meet Haryu's girlfriend, and there we get another reveal, while Taiki assumes that Haryu's girlfriend knows him by what Haryu says, she actually knows him by what Chinatsu says, but she protects her friend and goes on with the idea that it was Haryu. This episode they were really hinting that Chinatsu does reciprocate Taiki's feelings. And then, the big moments came, when she revealed to the sleeping Taiki, that she didn't like that he "lied" to her, and that if he's dating Hina she has to change the way she sees him. This was a really big way to end the episode. The scene was also really cinematic, and I love that.

The ending of this episode really gave the feeling that the story is starting to have another direction from now on, and it really felt like some kind of conclusion, so I wouldn't be surprised next episode we are getting a new opening and a new ending, with the start of the 2nd cour. But I will for sure miss this opening and ending, because both are so good!

Also, I think the scene where the boy that likes Hina asked if his group could join Hina and Taiki was really tense and well done, and the way they just cut to Hina being alone, waiting for Taiki, was a really clever way to show what ended up happening, and makes you wonder what Hina replied to him. I don't know, but that scene was really strong, especially when they kept showing in a cinematic way Taiki approaching Hina, keeping you away from knowing if she's alone or not.
It's going to be really sad if Hina discovers Taiki took so long because of Chinatsu, so I hope she doesn't discover that, wouldn't change a thing, and would only give her sadness.

Anyways really excited for the next episode! Really curious to see the direction of the anime from now on, because it seemed that it was cooling down, but this episodes was really intense!

This is exactly the kind of misunderstanding that all these romances lean on to create drama, always super annoying to see. But it's done really well here because it's super believable (which only makes it more cringey honestly). Still, after such a romantic episode, I'm looking forward to see a bit more of the sportsy side again.

Wow, reading these replies, I realize I truly suck at understanding women. I like the story, and I like the progress. I'm surprised that so many people are calling Taiki undecisive, because I probably wouldn't do things that much differently if I were him.

But then again, I'm single for a reason.
@guyklc I myself wouldnt do much diferently too. Specially if a girl who is my best friend, who was always teasing and when confroted about it, would always say to do stuff in group and not admit what she truly wants, i would be the same. At the same time, i feel the last 3 episodes has been alot of procrastination. He is not undecisive because he simply isnt seeing her in a romantic way. But he should be more direct on some things. But like i said, at his age, i would probably be the same lmao.

@Viriathus I was more referring to Taiki's relationship with Chinatsu, although I agree about Hina as well. In terms of Chinatsu, I would definitely be a lot more careful, especially since she is also a roommate. If the love confession goes south, then things can get really awkward really quickly between the two at home.

Feel like Taiki didn't get enough flak for just peacing out like that in the middle of the night

Also lol Chinatsu doesn't get to complain when she's the one who put the boundaries up, even if they were dating, that's kinda on her for basically removing herself as an option.

The fireworks passes by, thankfully with pretty much no drama at all. Chinatsu sees Taiki together with Hina, but that's it really. And idk if Hina was keeping it in, but she seemed really calm for being left alone by someone who went for a 'washroom break" of AT LEAST 20 minutes. Taiki actually went and finished every side quest in the area before choosing to go back to her. But hey at least it was all good it seems like. And in those 20 minutes we get some cute moments between Taiki and Chinatsu. I was 99% sure that Hina would've seen them together- but as far as we know, she didn't. We also don't quite know how she responded to the group of guys who wanted to stay with her, other than she obviously shooed them away somehow. Anyway back to the cute stuff between Taiki and Chinatsu: well it looks like a little girl plays wingman and gets our two lovebirds to act like mommy and daddy for a bit. Yes it was all cute but you still can't count out the fact that Taiki basically forgot about Hina during that time. At least he did eventually think about her, and she didn't seem to mad about it at all.

Fast forward to the following day(s), and we're back in the gym, training for nationals. Taiki is beat, and he goes off somewhere to take a nap. And I must say, even though the man is on the hard floor, with his backpack as a pillow and jacket as a blanket, that looked like it was one killer of a nap. Not to say that when he woke up with the breeze flowing through the windows like that with some late-afternoon sun rays... was a low-key a vibe ngl. Maybe Taiki had such a good nap because Chinatsu talks to him in his sleep, and kind of just confesses her feelings to him right then and there. So now we know, their feelings are mutual. Maybe stronger on Taiki's side, but mutual nonetheless. Now this may (ok fine it 100% is) be the very strong bias talking, but our two main characters' love for each other feels artificial, like it was tacked on last minute to check off a box. Meanwhile the relationship between Hina and Taiki, Hina's feelings being one-way, feels way more easy to get invested in. Like Taiki can rizz up Chinatsu a million times, and it'd be like whatever. But he rizzes up Hina just ONE time and calls her "cute"? THE WHOLE CROWD GOES FREAKING WILD

Guessing that it won't be for a hot minute, but I hope that Chinatsu shares her genuine feelings with Taiki soon. Like we kind of know how drawn out it's going to be: Chinatsu's going to keep her feelings to herself for as long as she thinks that Taiki and Hina are together, and probably continue to do so after she finds out they aren't together. Hina will keep on going for Taiki until Chinatsu reaches her breaking point of jealousy and finally lays her heart out on a sleeve for Taiki. Or maybe what we'll get is more wholesome that what we expect? This episode sure was an example of that. Nothing toxic, which this whole anime has been so far and I hope it stays that way. It's just that it would be nice to get it all over with, you know? The confessing of feelings and stuff, so we can see how relationships play out afterward? Yes it's anime and it's like forbidden for the lovers to even hold hands until the final episode, But you can be different; you can be better. Sometimes 24 episodes of build-up can work. Other times, it'll just feel like a drag. Yes it's young love and it's complicated, but it's also fiction. You can write it in the script for the characters to get their feelings out.

When will Chinatsu tell Taiki of her feelings for him? Who knows, could be the very next episode, could be the very end of the manga. Wish it was the former, but I think we all know it's going to take a LITTLE more time than that for that to happen. Meanwhile Hina on the other hand, while not specifically saying "I LOVE YOU" to Taiki, is giving signs that even a male with half a brain should be able to deduce. And speaking of said male, idk if we can rely on him to get his feelings out to either girl here. Well one he doesn't deeply care about on the same level as the other, and said other well he worships like a goddess and feels borderline unworthy to even be in her presence. So good luck saying "I like you" to her. No, we have to rely on Chinatsu or Hina to move things forward. But who knows, maybe Taiki will surprise us.

I'm beyond happy Chinatsu is dealing with the pain of telling Taiki they can't get closer. Feels good man.

Oh shit, so Chinatsu has been talking to Karen about Taiki oooo. I hope she regrets what she did. Its stupid to assume Taiki is dating Hina. The lack of communication is so damn annoying.

I gotta say that Karen is a hottie and I wouldn't mind a side story about her but onto the MCs. It annoyed me both how Taiki left Hina alone for too long of a time and also how Chinatsu is both jealous and thinks Taiki lied to her about going to the fireworks show as a group. If Chinatsu wouldn't have put the boundary up maybe they both would've gone to the fireworks show together. I hope that Hina keeps pushing to see Taiki and hopefully he'll start seeing her as more than just a friend.

Hina looks so good in her Yukata!

But god how I hate what happened there, I mean it was nice to have Chinatsu-senpai and Taiki together but neglecting Hina just like that was just painful, come on.

And now Chinatsu-senpai seems to misunderstand what she saw, ofcourse she will.

Somehow I just felt bad for both the heroines.

god, was happy for Hina this episode, but then sad for Chinatsu at the end. I really hope they clear this out next episode since Chinatsu is finally showing she might like Taiki too, can't watch her think he is dating Hina and be sad.

Anyway amazing episode, already got scared this was last one this season, but thankfully we are only at half so far, peak romance show.
