| This show wasn't perfect but had some memorable moments. Maybe sometimes predictable. Curious for the next season without huge hype. |
| This English is worse than Scotland English. There’s no sub which makes it clear that even the subbers find it hard to sub. 35 people in 7 teams enter 3rd selection. 2nd team to enter the 3rd selection is ofcourse Nagi, Barou and Chigiri, with their new teammates. Kunigami is nowhere to be found. Igaguri got in? That’s unbelievable. With Blue Lock project being on the line, Ego proposed a match with U20 players. Itoshi Sae is also a part of the Japanese U20 team, which fires up Rin. If these people win, they can get themselves into the U20, which is a big chance for them. |

| Good ending for the first season. Some unknown players and their hair style makes me laugh. U-20 is bringing up the hype for these blue lock teams. Will be waiting for next season. |

| Having rewatched the season to refresh my memory... the pacing is atrocious, and this one episode brings all of the issues in a concentrated form. After the 4v4 game that took place across, what, like 4 episodes... with a lot of background character building, especially for Bachira... The game against the world's best is done and dusted in about 7 minutes of screentime, and even that's split between two episodes. But hey, at least that's already five new characters there. We see Ego being a good guy actually fighting for the boys... which is good, and maybe like the second instance of that, with the first not being nearly this intense. But even then - complaints from parents? Lol? Lmao even? What parents, they're so distant they might as well not exist, and now we learn they've been complaining enough that it's a concern? Come on. The no clear goals and no results is flimsy at best at this point. We see a random study session, I'm actually surprised this wasn't an additional time episode, because the material is perfect for it (in the entire season we don't see them study or do homework of any kind even once), and so is the length. It's a fun little palate cleanser, but it's so damn random. And then - 35 guys make it to the third selection... of those, we get introduced, here in the second half of the last episode, to twenty new ones. Like, I'm not opposed to bringing in fresh faces, but uh. The ones we got to know and like - we lose, several of them offscreen and without even a single mention, only to fill up the ranks again, with people whom we also haven't even seen or heard mentioned at all before? We see nothing of what happens to any of these guys at all, for one moment, during the entire course of the season, even the already established characters get done offscreen without us even knowing anything. And then what, the new guys too are gonna be culled right away in the third selection anyway. Which btw is also gonna bring yet more new faces, because we haven't even seen the U20 team either. Geez. All this while the incredible amount of incredibly diverse merch/collabs they've been pushing all this time... seems to give off an impression that the entire cast is what, 7, maybe 8 guys? Because there's Isagi and Bachira, Reo and Nagi, Kunigami(!) and Chigiri, and Rin - Sae may pop up, or Gin, or Barou, here and there but that's about it. I wanted to refresh my memory because I had trouble remembering things... and now I know why. I felt the one 4v4 game drag on for too long the first time around (also the way they kept going from one match to the other and the next, without much of a break in general), and I stand by that after the second time. Even Bachira's character building felt oddly tacked-on (and dragged out as well, and I LOVE Bachira), the way he's out of the picture for so much of it, until someone suddenly notices that and they try to overcompensate. But then all that's amplified several times over by how much happens how fast after that in this one episode, not to mention the amount of new characters being brought in. I'm looking forward to season 2, but kinda with trepidation. I know it's quite common for series to struggle with pacing, but yeesh... I really hope they manage better with the next part. |
