Second episode in a row that brought nothing to the table nor raised the stakes in any way. Do we seriously need 50 minutes of padding as a lead up? Whatever tension was there until episode 6, it's sailed now.
Yeah, the speech was great and took like 7 minutes. That's 7 minutes out of 29 - where did there rest go? Seriously, drama and development can and should be handled quicker and more decisively.
And psychofans in here will still repeat what they say in EVERY episode's discussion thread: "This is the best episode in all of anime!". Cringe af, you lot can't be taken seriously anymore.
@TheUnwiseWolf It did raise the stakes. Are you stupid? He has given a heroic speech, now he has to shoulder all those expectations from the people in Priestella. Did you not listen to what Al said? Go watch a shonen, lil boy

How do people enjoy this? The dialogue from this series is so on-the-nose and unnatural it's embarrassing and I think one has to be assimilated by tacky otaku culture to tolerate it. No subtlety in presentation from the series except when it's excessively mysterybaiting to desperately try and keep you hooked to its narrative. A large part of all this is because it's a light novel (and an isekai at that) therefore it's bound to be chuuni and indulgent, but this really does feel like a total midwit-core anime.
@IHateMidPiece Agree 100%. It's so otakucentric and most people here don't realize it. I cringed so hard during Subaru's speech that I might have tracked a tooth. But hey, Tracksuit-kun will fix it (he's just like MEEEEE! or something).

There were neither some amazing action scenes nor any important death scenes but still this episodes was more than amazing. That whole speech by Subaru was really moving and the last lines were what I was waiting to listen the whole time.
As for when Al was telling Subaru the consequences of delivering the speech, the whole flashback scene was kind of emotional.
In total, this episode delivered a lot without delivering a lot.

I'm always happy to see an extended episode and man was it an excellent one at that!

Subaru really has shown how much he has grown as a character. He still has his moments of hesitation and anger, but everyone present at city hall were right to tell him that only he could be the one to speak into microphone. Al was very blunt about his thoughts of the idea and if Subaru was up to the task, but in the end, Subaru's performance was a masterclass of bringing hope to the citizens who were neck deep in the midst of despair.

Emilia was also resolute with what she believed to be the right thing to do. She could've escaped herself but chose to stay as she wants to save all of the women who're married to Regulus. She wants to let the wedding happen, so it does make that to be the place fitting for a showdown.

Otto bringing Reinhard to Subaru at the end of the episode was very hype. Now his group has a seriously powerful ally that can help turn the tide of the battle against the witch cult. I highly look forward to seeing the next episode and see how Subaru's group begin their comeback. The battles ahead will still be immensely difficult, but I have hope that he and the others can win this.

@IHateMidPiece You're just looking for attention, right? Have you even seen the series to understand all the background that the episode brings with it? The speech is totally imperfect... And that is why it is perfect. It shows all the progress and development of a character, but at the same time the essence that has been maintained through each episode. The main character has never had anything special. It's the most common guy in the world in almost every aspect. But it firmly reminds you that a person is always ultimately defined by his actions. That's why you can empathize with him so well. That's why words that seem improvised and simple can become something surprising. And that it's something that I personally haven't found in any other series i've read.

If you are the one who can't understand it, I assure you that the problem is not at all with the people who can appreciate and enjoy it.
Well... I guess It's just what you expect from a guy named "IHateMidPiece" lol.

@Farabeuf And that's in-character for him? I think the speech was great for a 18-year-old shut-in. He's not gonna suddenly become good at giving speeches to the public like politicians or commanders (like Erwin in AOT or Crusch in ss1), especially when he's improvising on the spot. I think many people here and Subaru himself know he isn't the best speaker presentation-wise. He even sounded shaky and unconfident in the beginning (yikes). That's why he went for the emotional empathy route, which I agree can be understandably cringy. But he had to be the one to do it to utilize his reputation of being an Archbishop slayer and it worked out.

A speech to inspire confidence, one that resonated with everyone...

I think it's a known thing that whenever Re:Zero does twenty-nine minute episodes, it's going to be a big one, and this one did not disappoint whatsoever. It was great seeing everyone nominate Subaru to be the one to give the speech, and my, that speech was amazing. He didn't give platitudes or say anything to give people a false sense of hope, but just told them that he would fight for them, to stand proud and let him work his magic. Along with Rie Takahashi's OST playing in the background, it was certainly a moment to remember, and when this season is over, it will be something we will think back on fondly. Best episode of this season so far, and now there is just one episode to go in the first cour.

30 minutes of Peak 0.

Al is such nice guy. He really felt how tough it was Subaru taking so much responsibility & expectation on his own shoulder is not easy. He gave him the reality check he needed.

But Subaru being Subaru always on high horse. But now he felt lot more genuine compared to last time. And what a brilliant speach Subaru gave. Inspired everyone and brought them out of negativity. Saying not to give up and fight as I will also fight for you and win it sure took courage and determination and he delivered flawlessly. Nothing else but Garfiel's half siblings are so cute don't let anything happen to them.

Excellent job Subaru as Anastasia said he is a great agitator indeed.

Outstanding episode this what makes Re:Zero what it is.

One of the most organic made-on-spot speeches I have ever read in any Eastern novel, and White Fox (and Kobayashii san) goes the extra mile to do it justice. I mean, as much as possible.

There are many subtle things spread throughout the episode, and the most notable ones are Al's reactions, no doubt. The flashbacks into earlier seasons are apt, though I have to fully comprehend the meaning behind the Ep 10 suicide scene reference. Garfiel unleashing Mimi energy is something too precious.

I did criticize last episode a bit, but the sacrifice made by that episode made the pacing in this one look extremely natural. This is the truly the work of a skilled crew behind the show.

Oh yeah, WF is finally in my favorites.

@IHateMidPiece That's a fair opinion to have. Why are you still watching it to episode 7 of season 3? For someone who despises the show/dialogue/characters, how did you possibly get through the capitol part in season 1? You seem really dedicated to hate watch up to season 3 and especially through the 1.5hrs 1st episode that was nothing but "on-the-nose" dialogue until the last 5 minutes. There are a lot of better things to do with your time than hate watching anime and rage baiting on forums...

@Farabeuf How do you get 3 seasons in and

1. Misinterpret the speech entirely.

2. Subaru IS AN OTAKU. He spoke from his heart though and sometimes genuineness isn't all sunshine and rainbows

3. What was even so cringe? He spoke to raise their moral, first by putting himself on their level and saying how scared he was too. If that's cringe, please talk to more people. Everything he said came from the heart of someone who's faced a ton and he put his all into it despite not being the most elegantly spoken (which he admits). He never pretends to be someone who isn't an otaku at heart.

Idk how you'd have this take after watching the first 2 seasons where it's abundantly clear who he is as a person

Its crazy because I would've never thought to see this scene truly come to life and its finally here. This is one of those scenes that you can really feel a characters heart and soul through the words. The words resonate so much that it bleeds into your soul and draws you into the world of Re:zero. Subaru's growth has been amazing and well flourished to this point of the series....but this moment, this moment is inspiring in every single way. A moment like this brings a tear to my eyes but also a warmth to my soul most characters can't really bring you. You truly are an amazing guy Natsuki Subaru.

This episode was full of yapping but it didn't feel boring at all, not even a single bit. They way Al gave courage to Subaru was what he needed badly. He truly became one of my top 5 characters of this series.

Man Subaru's speech is so fucking peak. This series is so great itself and on the other hand VAs are gradually making it even greater. Each of the VAs are putting their best effort on this series.

Im telling u right now Emilia better not accidently get one of the wives killed cause of her clumsiness. I find it really funny how Garf just had to put at the end of what he said being "either Subaru or Reinhard" Aka either the main character or the cheat code.

Subaru's speech was great im saying this rn Subaru has the best character development ive ever seen in any anime/Manga ever. If you compare him now to ep 1 its like a entirely different character. He's just a normal dude who toughed everything out with the help of allies and became a better person from it, There's very small amounts of people who'd be able to manage what he had. Like he doesn't need any stupid abilities to be my tracksuit goat.

For me the biggest concern is probably gluttony right now because we don't know where they are. Lust and Greed are in the towers and Wrath I think is being held of by Anastasia's people. But Gluttony is completely unaccounted for especially the one who took down Rem and Crusche we havent seen him since his first appearance this season.

Only ReZero could have an extended 30 minute episode of pure yapping and still make you tear up and get chills at the end. Subaru’s speech is one of the greatest you’ll hear in the medium and his self loathing, anxiety and insecurity all reached the people of Priestella. They needed to hear someone just like them was willing to fight to protect those he cares about even if he’s weak and scared. It had to be Subaru and he delivered.

Again, I’m an Emilia hater, but I love how much faith she had in Subaru from the very start. As soon as she told Al about the cult’s plans and positions she instantly got happy because she knew Subaru would come up with a plan and would save her. Even if the obstacles and odds seem insurmountable, he doesn’t know how to quit. He can’t quit. That hope rubbed off on the other wife and soon the other wives as well. Can’t wait to see this play out.

Also, Reinhard finally here let’s gooo

It is a speech made by a normal person who has accomplished extraordinary feats and who still does not fully realize it. It was the words of his companions that convinced him and made him more aware, especially those of Al. Thanks to these companions, he brought out a courage and communicative strength that he didn't even know he had, with simple, direct and sincere words he convinced everyone. This person is Subaru Natsuki!
