You already KNOW shit is going down when they pull out that extended length episode. Though, it's not all bad because the OP still did play lmao. Shit will REALLY go down if the OP hadn't played, but hey, what we got was still big nonetheless. Obviously adapting the BIG moment of this Attack Arc/5, with the Subaru speech. But first, we need to make sure Subaru has the courage to get this out to THE ENTIRE CITY, and the whole stuff with Emilia and Al. At least, thankfully, it seems that it was nothing more than him picking up the dialogue mirror from one of the corpses of the Witch Cultists, and is NOT a traitor like I thought he was. Phew.

But yeah, onto the main event of the episode, the speech itself. God, this might rival episode five for me icl. I mean, from the direction with the song by the GOAT, Takahashi Rie. The flashbacks to the pivotal moments in season one and two. The switching of various POVs all across Pristella. The SHEER LENGTH OF THE SPEECH BEING A WHOLE 7 FUCKING MINUTES... It's so peak, man. I dunno about the whole thing with Emilia embracing and accepting the fact of taking this wedding... but, sure. Glad to see the goats Otto and Reinhard showing up at the end as well ofc.

What an episode man. Easily a top five in ALL of Re:Zero, not just this season. Can't wait to see what the final episode of this arc has to bring next week.

Priority must be, and tbh is, saving Emilia, first and foremost, but okay, for the time being, hearing anything from and of her, is kinda assuring, for a lot of people. Btw, I kind of liked how Emilia is actually aware that trying to escape out of this place, by whatever means, would only make things even worse. I mean there’s a lot of people who would help her escape so, it ain’t really something to spin heads around. You know, what’s more important is actually trying to do something which would lift the spirits of people of this fucked up town.

Too much confusion around though, over whom to give the speech lol. Subaru should realize that he’s the main guy around, and it’s him who would have to do these main characters stuff. Rest should just listen and be the spectators, not being given the option to carry out, over what actually was, most real someone has talked about for about 10 minutes in this show, ever. You know the speech hit home when all these minutes felt like a couple of seconds, and yeah, when even those oppressed by Regulus start to feel there's still hope. The extended runtime was all worth it. Btw, the best part was him dropping his name in the end.

An extended episode lessgoooo
that speech was amazing
it really shows how much subaru has grown as a person

Some LN Extra Details (Volume 18 Chapter 2.5-3 & 4.7-4.8 )
- Something about Al reminds Emilia of Subaru after the call is done
- Al complained that he prioritized carrying Emilia's message over looking for Priscilla
- Subaru realized Al's behavior is very unusual lately, probably because of the emotion amplification by Wrath Authority
- After Garfiel grabbed Al, he casted doubt on Garfiel on why he kept calling Subaru `Chief/General` without knowing it's worth and if he really knows why is he calling him that
- Subaru calmed Garfiel that he didn't mind being called that and was used to it.
- Anastasia noted that Subaru is totally off the speech script after the beginning part.
- Anastasia also joked if Subaru was a con artist before he became a knight, seeming on how he perfectly bring people to spirit despite being off-script

Differences from LN
- Emilia's moment with Al is described as flashback
- Fred (Garfiel's lil bro) is sleeping before the speech starts
- When Otto shows up, he wants to high five Garfiel, but ended up being bearhugged by him strongly that Otto is writhing in pain.

30 Minutes of Re:Zero in the MIDDLE of the season is craaaaaazy, I'm glad that they got the slot to go all in to depict Subaru's speech in all its glory! He's the GOAT fr frrrr

After Al delivered the intel Emilia has gathered all on her own to Subaru, the objective is clear, truthfully if he only cared about the result and defeating the Witch Cult, launching a counterattack on the towers where the Sin Archbishops are staying would've been the logical way to go, and as Al himself stated, Subaru should technically focus on Emilia and save her from Regulus specifically, however just as Subaru himself noted. Saving the Pristella isn't just about defeating the Witch Cult but doing so whilst saving the spirits of the citizens who have fallen under tremendous despair. It's the right thing to do.

The metia is right here left untouched, and undefended... The Witch Cult does not care of the actions performed by the inferior individuals that they reign supreme over. What is left to do is to find the person most suited to rouse the fighting spirits of the people and embed hope. Now who would that be? A royal candidate? A chivalrous knight? A beast with monstrous strength? Oh no no no... It could never be anyone other than the weak pathetic man who trembles upon facing the seemingly insurmountable obstacles he has on his hands. AL was right, the one who successfully managed to broadcast an effective speech will no longer be one to live a life of a nobody, for he would be the symbol of hope and a hero. He can't afford to lose and he must win? Oh boy... There is no one else who has 'lost' more than Subaru which is precisely why he has always won! To shoulder the hope to the future, IS WHAT HE HAS ALWAYS DONE!!!

Ahh the speech...
A speech from an average guy... Who would ever be moved by some dude who informed everyone that the situation is still fucked up and that the Cultists still roam the city all the while speaking with an unconvincing shaky voice? Nahhh that's how Subaru relates to the people, through empathy, now follow it up with a heartfelt reminder to hold those precious to you dearly and LOOK. AT. THEM. Look at them and the people around them, who has done all this? Who has caused all this grief? This pain? This chaos? Those bastards did, the witch cultists did!!! Do not give up and don't ever for a second think that you're the only one that remains standing, braving and resisting the weakness and rejecting the hopelessness!

"I'll fight and win! My name is Subaru Natsuki! The spiritmancer who defeated the Witch Cult's Archbishop of Sloth! Leave these cultists to me and my allies! So please trust us and keep fighting too! Hold the hand of that special someone and blast away that despair and weakness! Then leave theyrest to me!"

HE'S THE FUCKING GOAAAAAAAAAT!!! RAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! The OST playing in the background reflects the amount of trust Emilia and by extent, every single citizen in Pristella has in Subaru! He who holds and shoulders the trust of all will now carry that trust and bring forth an unthinkable future, a HAPPY END! The One to lead us all to victory, the one who has solved countless misery, only one truly capable of bringing forth Liberty! BEST EPISODE OF THE SEASON, perhaps EVER in Re:Zero! WODROUS WEDNESDAY W!!! PEAK!!!

You know it's going to be P E A K when the episode is 29:30 minutes long. This was the best episode of Season 3 yet. And like most great episodes of Re:ZERO, it was mostly dialogue. That's what this series excels at. White Fox pulled off another phenomenal episode. The insert song by Emilia's VA Rie Takahashi "I Trust You" was also absolutely amazing. Hopefully, it'll be released separately soon...

Man, Natsuki Subaru's speech was phenomenal. From his shaky voice at the start to slowly gaining confidence and delivering a great speech, it was absolutely incredible. I loved how the scene cut from Subaru to the people of Priestella, showing how they were feeling. Especially Garfiel's siblings Fred and Rafiel. I loved how he gave all the survivors in Priestella hope. Subaru has grown so much. Those flashbacks just show how far he has come. One of the few times in anime where I actually liked the inclusion of flashback scenes.

Subaru's VA Yusuke Kobayashi did a phenomenal job. I think he won an award for his performance in Season 2 before. I think he's going to earn another award for Season 3.

The situation with Emilia was great too. She could've fled and saved herself. But she's not gonna abandon Regulus' wives. She's not gonna give up so easily. She won't run away and abandon the people who're in trouble even if they're someone she just met. She's just like Subaru fr.

And then finally, the entry of Reinhard thanks to Otto. Man, I'm excited for the next episode but also sad that it'll be the last episode of this cour. What am I going to do in December and January...

One if not the episode i looked forward the most for this arc.
Masterclass in every aspect.

The speech which engraved the Hero Natsuki Subaru not just in the hearts of those who fought alongside him during the battle of the white whale and the arcbishop of sloth, not just of those close to him he saved in the sanctuary but now of those of the kingdom too and most importantly his own heart, which finally accepted, that he indeed is worthy of being called a hero.

This part made me cry when i read it years ago in the webnovel, yesterday i read the light novel version for the first time to check for differences and to refresh my mind and of course to steel my heart again.

Yet again, the passionate and talented people involved in this project, may god protect those beautiful souls, delivered this story defining moment in the most beautiful way possible and i couldn't help to get emotional again.

Thank you, truly thank you for this adaptation.

Damm Al doesn't mess around at all it seems. Kudos to Emilia for remaining herself despite the danger she's in. The trauma that the wives went through though must ahd been immense at being torn from their lives by Regulas. Subaru's speech was really good. While it started off as being a bit shaky as it went on him getting fired up really served to make it much more relatable. The effect it had on the cits showed this perfectly. High praise from Anastasia but well deserved one. Now for the counterattack to begin against the witch cult.

Second episode in a row that brought nothing to the table nor raised the stakes in any way. Do we seriously need 50 minutes of padding as a lead up? Whatever tension was there until episode 6, it's sailed now.
Yeah, the speech was great and took like 7 minutes. That's 7 minutes out of 29 - where did there rest go? Seriously, drama and development can and should be handled quicker and more decisively.
And psychofans in here will still repeat what they say in EVERY episode's discussion thread: "This is the best episode in all of anime!". Cringe af, you lot can't be taken seriously anymore.

@TheUnwiseWolf It might be best if you wait until the entire cour is finished airing. I get watching anime especially re:zero is frustrating week by week but if you can watch each episode back to back it definitely lives up to the hype. It might not seem like much is getting done, but developing a character like Subaru needs its payoffs. It's not as simple as other anime like jjk where the plot and characters are a lot more one dimensional, these characters feel a lot more real. Just have patience, see if you hold that same sentiment when cour 2 airs.

How do people enjoy this? The dialogue from this series is so on-the-nose and unnatural it's embarrassing and I think one has to be assimilated by tacky otaku culture to tolerate it. No subtlety in presentation from the series except when it's excessively mysterybaiting to desperately try and keep you hooked to its narrative. A large part of all this is because it's a light novel (and an isekai at that) therefore it's bound to be chuuni and indulgent, but this really does feel like a total midwit-core anime.

THATS WHY HES THE GOAT. THE GOAT.

HIS SPEECH WAS BEAUTIFULLY ADAPTED. You can tell how much this speech meant to white fox and the burden to deliver it so well. The weight of his voice was greater than I had hoped for. Felt the same way when I first read it years ago.

Now let the climax of Arc 5 begin. It’s nothing but immense stakes and counterattacks from here on out. So hyped. Will never understand people who actively hate on this and especially Subarus character.
