| Sugimoto became an entirely completely different character overnight, which I suspected might've been the case. Also, if Youko was going to drag her along on her war campaign, then why didn't Sugimoto have any visible armour or weaponry? She's a vastly superior combatant to Youko, and is more than capable of defending herself, but was left without any protection for these prolonged battles? I suppose it's just as well that all the warring and conflict was abruptly skipped over, as her survival would be hard to justify otherwise. Youko hasn't changed all that much, despite the narrative claiming otherwise. She's still the same girl who continually trusts people who don't warrant said trust, and routinely puts herself down over an inferiority complex that she was gaslit into from the first episode. It is true that her status and outfit have changed, but Youko apparently has the same mentality as she did from the start of the anime. |
