'Blue Lock vs. U-20 Japan' Announces Additional Cast

The official website of the Blue Lock vs. U-20 Japan television anime revealed cast members for the U-20 team as well as new key visual (pictured) and promotional videos for both teams on Sunday. The television anime is currently airing for 14 episodes and began on October 5 at 11:30 p.m. on TV Asahi's IMAnimation programming block.

Kento Chou: Jun Kasama (The First Slam Dunk)
Teru Kitsunezato: Gakuto Kajiwara (Black Clover)
Itsuki Wakatsuki: Taito Ban (Ore dake Level Up na Ken)
Haru Hayate: Kensho Ono (Kuroko no Basket)
Miroku Darai: Yuusuke Shirai (Sasaki to Miyano)
Kazuma Niou: Takuya Satou (Re:Monster)
Teppei Neru: Shunichi Toki (Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun)
Gen Fukaku: Chikahiro Kobayashi (Beastars)
Ryuusei Shidou: Yuuichi Nakamura (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Yuuji Haibara (Tensura Nikki: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken) is directing the television anime at 8bit. Taku Kishimoto (Bucchigiri?!) is handling the series composition and script. Kenji Tanabe (Chiyu Mahou no Machigatta Tsukaikata) is designing the characters, and Jun Murayama (Blue Lock) is composing the music.

Blue Lock adapts Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yuusuke Nomura's soccer manga, which began in Weekly Shounen Magazine in August 2018. Kodansha published the 31st volume on October 17 and will release the 32nd volume on December 17.

Kaneshiro and Kouta Sannomiya began serializing the Blue Lock: Episode Nagi spin-off manga focused on Seishirou Nagi in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in June 2022. Kodansha shipped the fifth volume on July 17.

Kodansha USA licensed both the manga and spin-off in January 2021 and October 2023, respectively. The 27th volume was released on September 3. The first volume of the spin-off was released on October 15.

Nagi spin-off is awful. It repeats the manga. They make it only to gain more money.

There's definitely some animation on both PVs, but overall they're still using the good 'ol "still image with effects" method, so I don't get my hopes up on this arc either...
