Disappointed?

I've never written up a forum post or felt the need to before, but I'm itching to talk about this anime.

I felt like episode 1 was really solid, or at least pretty good. I really enjoyed the OP and ED, loved the music and visuals for them, etc. After episode 1 I was genuinely looking forward to the rest of this anime, but now I'm 4 episodes in and I'm just... disappointed.

Maybe I should have read the manga first so that I wouldn't have gotten my hopes up, but the introduction of new characters seems to be my main irk. I feel like Yuki and Hitoyoshi should have maybe had a couple episodes of just them, figuring out their new life together. Since this seems to be kind of 'slice-of-life-y', I think some slower episodes where they really cemented the main characters and their personalities first would have been better? I saw somebody say that the characters feel very "one-dimensional", and I'd have to unfortunately agree. Don't get me wrong, I do like Yuki, and it's still early into the anime but at the moment she's very flat (personality wise).

Many of the characters do feel like cardboard cut-outs. You've got Hitoyoshi, the main guy who seemed to have something going on in episode 1

but now he's outshined by Yuki and her intense love for that sauce. There's his younger sister, Riko, who seems to only be there to force Yuki and Hitoyoshi together, and then Nitta the busty nurse. Oh, and don't forget the dog. Is he going to do anything besides be mildly cute? I don't know.

I think I feel disappointed because I was expecting this show to be either a regular romcom or something with a found family trope (like Spy x Family), and wasn't expecting... well, Nitta, really. I was expecting something more wholesome, basically (LOL). The introduction of the nurse and that whole scene with her and Hitoyoshi made me feel like I was watching something far from that.

I'm not the type of person that has a problem with fanservice or suggestive themes, but it feels out of place in this anime.

I'll keep giving it a chance to see how Kimi wa Meido-sama develops, but I don't really have a lot of hope.

I felt that but not due to the story I feel it is still keeping it up but animation has surely decreased.
OP and ED are actually very good from a song and visual perspective.
Yeah I also had high hopes after ep 1 and looked forward to episodes but now I am not enjoying the story that much which I initially thought
But I am still enjoying it.

Not really. I didn't expect this series to be more than a typical but enjoyable romcom, and so far, that's exactly what it is.

I agree with you on one point: I would have preferred to see more episodes focusing solely on Hitoyoshi and Yuki. As you mentioned, this would help develop their characters and relationship.

I understand. It's best you read the manga if you want a lot of questions answered and doubts cleared.
Since I started the manga a year ago and have been following it since then, I have been enjoying it actually. 😂
The beginning is weak but what's to come is quite captivating.
This is probably me ranting but yea, the anime isn't for everyone.
I totally understand.

well, the manga and anime aren't anything special. if anything, it's pretty average but it's a feel good romcom so yeah.

extremely dissapointed. I started this show only because the girl looked hot. didn't even have much expectations but this is the most bland shit ever

again and again and again, everybody here makes the same mistake, Don't judge on anything before the end , and what do you want ? , more episodes for introduction the characters, and you want to know more about the bad dream of the main character , What you are asking is at the end of this season, and in the manga , so
the anime shouldn't take everything, just copying it . You should research if you like something, but again, you people just like that
judge just like that, you want everything to give you just like a piece of cake , no, not everything just easy like that and
high hopes about what ?
you saw a beautiful girl and you ran after her , not considered about the story and the trauma that makes the main character fall for yuki , in the first he wants to help her but after that he falls for her , and about love between them yuki doesn't know how to be normal girl so how they are now in love she said she likes him and if you know there is a difference between love and like not every (like) things turn in to ( love)
and riko, this girl made that love thing between them, but they like each other , but there are no romantic things between them till now ,
yeah, about the sauce . If I like someone and I want to help him or her , I will see what he is looking for and help him to get it , and on yuki's case, the first thing that she tasted was the sauce , so she get back to the normal life with this way , just like that
and about the op and ep. I think they are between very good and good
not great, not bad, and about the animation. It's obvious because this is mid studio, and they expected that there are some people who will be disappointed about this show
so they are working on it with their limits
and till now, they are better than some other studios like studio dean in yukaza Fiance

I had too high expectations for this anime, so after its release I felt so-so. But I still liked this anime.

After three episodes I'm starting to wonder why I even added this to my list in the first place.

Luckily I have enough free time right now to "waste" 20 minutes each week and not be too upset, but if I was any busier I'd probably drop it since I feel like nothing ever happens.

The average would be at least a full point lower if it wasn't getting the waifu premium.

I was hoping it’d do better on FAL, so a little disappointed on that front, but the show is fine, nothing to write home about, but an alright experience, wasn’t expecting more from it.

I can agree about the show maybe introducing side characters a little early, when it could have explored the main duo a bit more first.

I don’t agree about your point regarding wholesomeness though, the show is literally about a veteran killer getting reformed, but what hurts it being wholesome is some snuggling? come on mate

Tourism is such a detriment to anime.

Easy now, my brother. Don't get too riled up with this...

Well, I did hope it would be more episodic and focused on only them, this "family" and the main characters falling for each other.
But Yuki does have her past, and of course that would come up to haunt her, it was inevitable.

I just wanted something not very "hiper backstory" to watch, but again, it was inevitable. Now let's see where the story goes.

tldr; but I really like this one so far. yuki is one of those characters I can't help but wish the best for her, and if that's with the mc, then so be it.

also, you have that backwards. You will almost never like a tv show, movie, anime, etc, if you have read the source material first. Your imagination will generally dwarf and image put to paper. how often do you ever see someone actually say something is better then it's source material. never.
