I recommend you to read the whole manga. It’s totally worth it and if you ask me, the anime and manga cannot compare each other. Junji Ito is a horror master, the adaptation is poor.

The Story after Episode 1 felt rushed and both 3d and 2d animation after Ep 1 were kind of bad to be honest

The Show had much potential and adult swim didn't worked well enough for the past 5 years since the show was announced

Still, it wasn't this bad, not to deserve having a 6.33 score, while the Junji Ito Maniac and Junji Ito Collection have a higher score, and they are ass in comparison. People overreacted so much. I recommend reading my review here on Mal

I think horror is a genre that doesn't really translate well in the form of anime like they do in manga and live action films. I fully recommend reading the uzumaki manga. It is way more enjoyable that way

@rafi369 I think Mieruko Chan and Dark Gathering did horror quite well, so I don't think it's that difficult. Only time will tell. Sucks that Nagahama's visions couldn't be fully relied due to production issues. This anime could have been the best horror anime in a while.

The manga is just as silly as the anime, but the pacing is not as fast and the artwork is noticeably better drawn.

Really disappointing show, 5/10 only because I didn't know the story as I never read the manga. And I don't even care about animation quality, I enjoyed some shit tier animations in my life, but man, pacing and stupidity of these stories are just comical. I am now wondering if Junji Ito is even any good for me, as far as I can tell most of his stories just go nowhere and characters are usually boring (Based on all the adaptations I've watched). I'd even make the dumbest asesment ever and say that I enjoyed the live action movie more than this anime...

The animation wasn't even the main problem. The characters were so basic and uninteresting, and the plot was nonsensical. Aside from the visuals in episode 1, intriguing art style, and maybe Miki Shinichiro voice acting (and even that is a stretch, because it's not even a great performance, I just like his voice. + His voice didn't suit his character.) I couldn't name one good thing about the anime.

And funnily enough, all the good things about the anime are due to it being an anime.
