| So after the abhorrently bad writing surrounding Eris' departure and throwing all of the romantic/character development out the window. I was hoping that it all was simply a case of favoritism towards Sylphiette on the writer's part and that in this arc, he'd put together at least a decent romance with good development that pays off. Boy was I naïve, This entire season was near pointless aside from some interesting revelations from Nanahoshi. There was filler where there could have been romantic development all for the sake of...what exactly? It wasn't suspenseful to see Rudy be unaware of Sylphiette's identity episode after episode, it was annoying and pointless. Maybe a better writer could have pulled off that suspense but this one sure couldn't. So essentially good development was traded for faux suspense and then there was a scramble to develop this adult romance from childish beginnings in really a minute or two which fell flat due to an insistence on sterility more than anything, denying the entire tone of the show in the process. Norn and Aisha are ripped away from us to develop years unseen so we can view something so important as...nothing, just a hamstrung plot by some lesbo to have Rudy see who Sylphiette is (which he should have seen much earlier) all to have his ED act up just to have an equally unsatisfying conclusion that includes no passion anywhere. Slight backstory mention and then fade to black with nothing the audience can tether themselves to. We had to suffer through the hag elf's sex scenes just to arrive at this sterility? The writer uses obscenity where it means nothing but cannot even add a little of something similar to spice up the relationship you botched? Pathetic. This is why there's no payoff and no development even after a whole season of flailing around. Sure, it's "nice" that Rudy got with Sylphiette but in the end it all lacks depth. The progression relies on you buying the laziness that "He always loved her" which prevails over everything else just so the writer can get away with shoddiness and a lack of development when he had ample time to produce a proper romance progression but decided to Hogwarts around instead for fun. Even the archer girl arc felt more natural and deep than the Sylphiette one. This was the last straw for me and I expect nothing else from Mushoku. It's a pitiful isekai prototype that future writers should learn from as to not forget to curb their worldbuilding brain for the sake of natural relationship/character building heart or any other basic storytelling element as it results in hollowed out garbage like this show. |

| Been binging this series over the last 3-4 days. When Luke came back to the room with that bottle of aphrodisiac that Rudy had all the way back in S1E6, I recognized it right away. I was dying lol. Felt like such a good callback to a throwaway joke. |

| Egh... thank god this impotence arc is over. It was painful to watch this for so long. And again, this "sex scene" was even worse than in season one. All that build-up of whole season was thrown out of the window by them not showing the act or making it poetic. Quite contrary, do they have some virgin blood fetish or something? Whole thing left the sour aftertaste. Even more so that we had to watch queen and Luke to play matchmakers. And it's even worse that they had to be drugged - couldn't they at least say the aphrodisiac was placebo all along? I get it his impotence was tied to his fear of being left alone but come on! Do they need to waste whole season on it? Their compatibility is another problem, I mean there was more chemistry between Sara and him before. Not even speaking of Eris who is completely different league. Sylphie and Rudeus just doesn't click well together so the marriage part came out even more unreal. Will they be playing house now? There was exactly one good episode in this season and it was the one with Nanahoshi.. but what about the rest of the characters? What purpose even served Badigadi, Goriande, Linia, Pursena, Juliett or Heckler? You can easily remove them with no loss. Cliff and horny elf Elinalise too. And who was that blue-haired girl in episode 8 who made her appearance, got no reaction from Rudy, only to disappear from the season right away? You can basically skip almost everything in this season and you wouldn't lose much. I really wish everything was handled differntly. This series basically turned to dumpster fire after Eris left (which in itself was just another plot device). 5/10 |

| well, even if i prefer a bit more action in this series. it still went by fairly quick and animation is top quality as always |
