Looks like they're going to finish up the rest of the requests.

This still turned out to be a busy summer for the cast as they worked hard to make their group the best they can be, especially Kanata. Not going to lie, I admire their work ethic and chemistry together.

Our girls are doing their best and you can't be nothing but proud of them.

Kanata begging for dance lessons from Miyabi was hilarious.

After a rather heated argument between the close friends of Megumi and Kanata, the girls get their refocus back on track to finish and fulfill the remaining requests thus far.

With cheer being PoMPoMs' main goal, getting those specific requests out are the feel-good ones, no matter where they go, with or without video, to eventually complete the entire Summer vacation's worth of cheers.

It's back to school, and Obunai is being more receptive, as well as Anna relaying her cheerleading progress to her Portuguese relatives. Moreover, Kanata's body work and physical health is improving enough to have Miyabi teach her dancing, as persistent as Kanata can be, to repay the people who once taught her, even rejoining the cheer club if she has to. But as she returns, another goes as Mari quit the cheer club being the culprit behind one of the negative posts in their videos.

It's good that PoMPoMs got their groove back, but will that even get people like Mari back with a negative connotation, especially considering between former cheermates?

So nice seeing the girls back together and cheering for the fun of it, Shion and Obunai stocks are on the rise. Kanata going back to her old group was good too but wtf was that ending.. so it was Mari senpai all along writing the nasty stuff.. it be ya own people.. damn.

So many good Shion and Obunai scenes in this episode, I swear all their scenes feel like thinly veiled confessions and like they’re falling deeper in love. Everyone at school getting surprised by how close they are now was funny.

Idk what Anna was supposed to be speaking to her family on zoom, but that was NOT Brazilian Portuguese lmao.

Kanata going back to her old club is long overdue, even if she can’t fly rn I think it’s good for everyone. Her trying to woo Miyabi every day with food was hilarious. She just stopped resisting eventually lol. But man Mari being the one to write that stuff was actually a shock, I thought it was Megu based on how that episode had gone

Only two more episodes left 😒

As a Brazilian, I can say, Anna still is the perfect representation of our country. The Portuguese sentences and accent in this episode were not perfect, but the rest was great.

I'm glad that the girls are finally back to working together after the drama that happened to them. Anna made the right call to focus solely on the requests and stop making their cheerleading videos. At least this way, this will stop them from trying to do too much and makes sure none of them suffer from burn out.

Kanata was also making improvements herself. She was allowed back in the cheerleading club at school and she didn't waste time in getting involved and doing her best to help out, even though she can't fly currently. Seeing her pestering Miyabi to teach her dancing was amusing.

However, the drama did pop up once more after Kanata noticed that Mari wasn't in the club. After being told that she quit the club, Kanata confronted her, where she learnt that it was Mari who sent that social media message criticising Kanata. you can see during the post credit scene at how saddened Kanata is now. =(

This was a good episode overall. I hope that this issue with Mari gets resolved as soon as possible.

Yay, Kanata was finally able to rejoin the cheerleading club that she had longed for. I'm so happy for her, though she discovered that someone she looked up to had made that hurtful video comment, which seemed to have deeply affected her after the discovery...

This Portuguese with a Japanese accent is really funny.
I wanted to know the name of Anna's grandmother's seiyuu, because her accent speaking Brazilian Portuguese was really good

I presume you are Brazilian and I have to disagree.
The only reason I'm watching this anime is because of Anna. I love how brasilian stereotypes are represented through her actions, mood, and how she uses Portuguese words in Japanese sentences.
That was definitely PT-BR she was speaking and I think they got really close for a foreign speaker.

I mean, have you seen American characters speaking English? It's way worse.

I love her too! I think she alone is the whole reason I watch this anime.
I laughed so hard she was introduced kissing people on their cheek and saying her name with a load of sure names while japanese have only one name and one sure name.

The capoeira part is also hilarious.

Do you also have the impression she is drawn slightly differently than the others? With thicker thighs, larger hips, fuller glutes, with a little more curves.

I don't know if I am being biased or if it's a real thing.

It's great that they decided to stop making videos and focus solely on animation, as it was taking up too much of their time. Now they can be more at ease with what they're truly passionate about.

The glances exchanged between Suzuha and Shion feel very intense, and I don't think it's just because they're best friends. Ever since the hot springs, they've been quite affectionate, even casually at school now, unlike at the beginning of the series. Honestly, many of us are wondering if they're already a couple but just aren't ready to reveal it yet.

I like that Kanata is showing more progress and was finally given the green light to move forward. It's also nice that she was allowed to join the club, even if just in a support role, but she really gave it her all, especially with Miyabi. Mari admitted to Kanata that she was the one who made those critical comments about her, so more drama is definitely on the horizon.

So there are finally sports in the anime, and it doesn't have anything to do with competitive cheering?

This anime is honestly the most disappointing "sports" anime I've ever seen.

as I say to any brazilian lover of Indie Rock brazilian band who sing in English: that Portuguese speaking part in this episode is how the americans hear these bands singing. Indeed, the "old woman" speaking had the better acent, even better than Anna.

@Avvenirista This was listed as a team sports anime until literally yesterday. The first sentence in the description mentions competitive cheer. Even though it isn't about it, there's barely any actual cheering and the show is absolute garbage.

I don't drop shows, but I can't wait to rate this accordingly.

The official website also never stated anything about competitive cheer apart from the fact that Kanata was a former competitive cheerleader. I think it's only MAL things. Anilist's synopsis is also stated in the same way as the official website. The key visuals of this series also never depicted anything competitively.

Sorry but none of that has anything with the official promotional/advertisement campaign for this anime. You should've checked the series' official website (or any other site beside this one, really) before thrashing the anime.

@Avvenirista Every single website I've checked mentions the National Cheerleading Competition. The official website is in Japanese. The wiki in english has no information saying what it is or isn't about. The other websites have this marked as "cheerleading", which, believe it or not, is a SPORT.

Sure I'll thrash the site, but when the official release mentions the National Cheerleading Championship, you'd expect there to be at least SOME competition. There wasn't, and it was disappointing. I'm allowed to express my opinions as such.

This conversation is not beneficial to me, so have a good day :)

@EverySportsAnime
Now you're pulling things out of your ass because I can't find any official mentions of this ''National Cheerleading Championship'' that you're talking about anywhere on the web.

Oh, and by the way, back in June the director did a little interview with ANN and he perfectly clarified what type of cheerleading would be mainly represented in this series:
The theme of the series is “Cheering.” Is this competition cheering, or will we see the characters cheering on people in Gunma Prefecture?

As you mentioned, the theme is "cheering" and "cheering cheers people up". These are the core of the series. Cheerleading can be divided into two types: competitive cheering performed at competitions and cheering to support something. So, for Narenare -Cheer for you!-, the unit "Pom-Poms," including Kanata and the other members, will mainly be doing the latter.

Tying into the [Japanese] title Nanare Hananare, the “hananare” part refers to the glamorous aspect of competitive cheer, which are competitive cheerleading performances. Also, while they smile and cheer loudly, the desire to cheer on someone is at its core. I thought this was important and not just about the glamorous performances. So, we used the title "Nanare Hananare" because it has both "hana" (flower) and "na" (stem). The theme of the work is about cherishing the feeling of cheering or wanting to cheer, like the "na" (stem) part. If anything, the story feels like a work that supports and pushes someone in the right direction.

They obviously used Google Translate in the scene where they talk in Portuguese. Because the intonation of Anna's relatives' voices is European Portuguese and not Brazilian. Usually in Google Translate, pt-pt is the default when selecting the language, depending on the country you live in. Anna doesn't have the same intonation that sounds in pt-pt but she still doesn't sound like pt-br but rather like a foreigner who just started learning the language. I know Brazilians who were born in Japan and never came to Brazil, but even so they speak like natives, maybe Larissa didn't have much contact with the language. But since the anime isn't meant to please Brazilians, I still loved the scene and I love Anna.

It's a bit funny when Anna tried to explain the difference between avó (grandmother) and avô (grandfather), because the difference in her pronunciation was that the avô one had a longer "o" sound preceded by a Japanese sokuon (δΏƒιŸ³, your typical silent っ stop before doubled letters). In reality, the difference is that "ô" is only vocalized while "ó" is also nasalized. Funnily enough, she gets the sound right in the video call section — because, while the Japanese "お" is not inherently nasalized, that nasalization might occur unintentionally during speech, as they do not perceive it as a different phoneme, but rather just a change in intonation (and Anna does speak in a high, nasal tone).

She doesn't really speak Portuguese. Her father is of half Japanese and Brazilian ancestry and her mother also speaks Portuguese, but I doubt she had a reason to learn it as she was born and raised in Japan, as far as I'm aware. Larissa states that she called her mother multiple times to get advice on how to say certain things in Portuguese in her official interview.

Well, the majority of this episode was lighter than the last one, which was expected. It seems we are getting the resolution of that nasty comment drama next episode, which makes me wonder what will happen in the last episode of the anime.
But I have to say that they bringing back that Kanata can't fly still is a bit weird, considering that she did some stunts with PomPoms. I also don't really understand why they stopped the videos completely, was for them to not receive any more requests? If so, they could have just stop receiving requests, it was a bit of weird writing here, but anyways.
Curious for the next episode! This one wasn't has good as the last one, but the anime is still being much better than what it was during the 5 first episodes.

Edit: Forgot to mention, but the best part of the episode was actually Anna speaking to her family in portuguese. As a portuguese speaker myself, it was certainly funny to hear their accents, but I actually understood what they were saying (although one of the lines had a grammar error, but something minor honestly, overall, it was impressive).
