| Damn, with chapter 39, where we finally saw the mental shift in Era I really thought this manga was going to be really special to me. Doesn't even last for one chapter until we get a boring, very unbelievably feeling, 180° back to "no fish eating anymore" cute Era. Pretty disappointing. I guess the ending is open to interpretation and I would hope she goes back to being the ice cold fish eating queen after literally eating even the Leviathan. But it could have been handled a lot more interestingly. During chapter 39 I was thinking about how the manga could creep up to a 9 or even 10 for me, depending on how it handled things now. But in the end it only feels like a good 7 to me, nothing more but also nothing less. I might even have given it an 8 if it hadn't raised my hopes so much in chapter 39 and then smashed them. If it had just gone for more comedy then that's what I would have scored it for but now I can't. |
