Why is it tagged as "romantic subtext?" Like how in the world is this show considered sub-romantic? It's a romance through and through! Like c'mon MAL!

Don't think they will change it cause I think it's not much of a romance and the romantic subtext fits it perfectly. Both the first and second season of kaguya sama have romantic subtext in the teg

The main focus of the story seems to be just the playful banter of the characters, not their romance. In that sense "romantic subtext" is a more suitable tag.

but that's like only half of the anime, from this point on, they're a couple, like dating, so it's a romance, not sub-text

well, Kaguya stayed as subtext since the main couple are literally trying their ass off not confessing, but Giji harem is only half way and they're already a couple

They literally never do this unfortunately. The most egregious example is Sonny Boy which is framed as a super power isekai show when it is an avant garde anime that could not be any different from what you may normally expect a show with those tags to be

The romantic subtext tag is one of the most controversial tags over here. I remember the time it was introduced and everybody was confused. These are literal romance anime/manga. I have gotten used to it now though. Any manga with the romantic subtext tag automatically means a romance for me cause its usually the cute and fluffy literal romance manga that ends up getting this stupid tag.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

Sonny Boy is technically a super power isekai. but yeah! Avant Grade tag could have been added too.

Well, based on what MAL defines as Romantic Subtext, it's not gonna get changed.

They started dating, and she literally is a whole harem for him, how is that not a romance and a comedy?

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Maybe if they go all the way alone at her place next episode MAL will consider the possibility that perhaps in some distant future they could contemplate starting to think about eventually bringing up a re-evaluation of the tags?

"Romantic Subtext is a narrative which can at first appear to be Romance. These plots feature one or more main couples which seem to have romantic interest in each other, and whose relationship(s) will be central to the main story. However, while the story will set the couple up for heartwarming or embarrassing moments, these encounters will not lead to any significant romantic development, and the characters will not strive to deepen the relationship beyond a certain boundary."

I'm not responsible for the tags and don't know much about them, but based on the definition of Romantic subtext I think the tag fits and I don't think it will be changed.

Please explain why the show doesn't qualify for "significant romantic development"

The fact still stands that the main characters have been officially dating since Ep 6, what did you mean by "romantic development beyond a specific boundary", can you explain a little more on that?

And doesn't turning from not a couple to an official couple in half the show's runtime counts as a significant romantic development?
For context:
Horimiya also became a couple at Ep 6,
A sign of affection also became a couple at Ep 6.
Taisho Otome Otoghibanashi became a couple at ep 7
Insomniacs afterschool became a couple at Ep 11.
And all of them are tagged as "romance".
Hell, even My dress up darling which didn't became a couple, is also tagged as romance
I don't see why this one isn't. Please change the tags or explain further on why you don't want to.
