You can still watch it, but you might enjoy it more if you knew the characters a bit more, especially harley, she might come off unreasonably crazy unless they explain anything about it in the show, and if you do decide, you can watch harley quinn the show by James Gunn (pretty R rated tho), it also has clay face (who is kinda similar here) and king shark (who here is more like James gunn's suicide squad movie) but it's up to you, you can just go in blind and watch these other stuff if you like the characters

i guess its funnier when you know the characters but i think you can watch it either way.

(If you want to get to know the characters I recommend Suicide Squad from 2016)

Yes, you can watch it, but it would be better if you knew a little bit more about the other characters. When I first watch DC or Marvel, I don't understand them, but after a time, I do, thanks to viewing and comparing them across movies and series. If you're busy, you can also look for it more quickly online.

Western comics, besides being usually a woke garbage (unfiltered, leftist political propaganda disguised as entertainment) are known to be filled with timelines, retcons and everything not making sense, so it doesn't matter where you start or even finish.

yeah you can basically watch any comic based series without prior knowledge because they're all their own universe's.

I however would not recommend 2016's Suicide Squad (this show does look more similar to that than the 2021 movie or Harley Quinn show just by including that Joker, but the 2016 movie is just not good lmao. If you want a good thing to watch both the others are better)

to be fair it takes characters from all three of those releases so if you wanted to know all the characters ahead of time you'd need to watch all three (and potentially the Peacemaker show that comes after 2021), but absolutely none are necessary
So yeah there's 4 universe's with the characters (excluding comics where it would be way more) any if which you could watch separately from each other, and none are necessary for this.

Suicide Squad 2016
Harley Quinn TV Series (animated)
Suicide Squad 2021, Peacemaker TV series

Although you can watch it, but I suggest go through the DC movies atleast. Atleast watch the Dark Knight series (3 movies). And watch a summary video about Harley Quinn and other characters like Peacemaker, etc. on YouTube.

I don't see any reason you couldn't. at most, you might want to watch some "history of x character" so you have a better understanding of the characters before watching. But even without that, you should be fine.

Watch the 2021 James Gunn version of Suicide Squad & you’ll probably be fine. It’ll give you an idea of the character’s personalities (Deadshot/Bloodsport are pretty much interchangeable, though the version of Ratcatcher is totally different) & the irreverent humor feels similar. It’s not a direct sequel or anything though.

Im more surprised there actually people who have no experience with marvel/dc. I mean superheroes films were SOOO popular and worldwide popular years ago compared to now.

Not a judgement but a surprised observation

@Piromysl DC animated series usually steer clear of modern political issues. Suicide Squad Isekai has 3 episodes up on HBO Max at the moment.

Yes, you can.
The concept of Suicide Squad is pretty simple. There's this government agent Amanda Waller aka The Wall, who collects DC supervillains (from in-universe supperprisons like Bell Rave, Arkham Asylum ect.), implants micro bombs in their necks in order to control them and sends them to practically suicide missions doing some black ops stuff, usually against other supervillains. Brutalities and hilarities ensue.
