3 Years after Attack on Titan ended, and Isayama claimed he'd never do manga again. WeI knew he would!
... How the fuck did I just find out about this by chance from looking through my favorite Managaka's.. he even has another work after this, this year.
Anyway. I never loved the Ackerman power.
It's ridiculous. A specific Asian bloodline has hidden super-strength, speed and reflex/instinct... which includes Mikasa (a sorta distant cousin) to Levi...
I don't remember what Levi actually mentioned in the manga of how he awakened his powers when he told Mikasa is like him.
If he just said he had that awakening too as a kid, or if he explained it detail when or how it happened...
So, seeing the actual event now so late feels inaccurate. Or at least, regardless, implausible and exaggerated based on what the manga has shown from Levi.
He's never ripped out the face or twisted the jaw of a man's face in the manga, but he did it as a kid?... How have we never seen that kind of power against humans before... maybe to not scare the public, but he had a lot of opportunities in rage to do so in the manga...
If I ignore all of that... his awakening being from wanting his dead mother's tea back and killing those men like that is awesome.
Seeing him telling this story to Gabi and Falco is kinda nice.
But if I compare all of this from what I remember to the manga, this feels like a flawed retcon. Showing Levi stronger than he was, and possibly changing the story of how he awakened his powers.
It's awesome to have Isayama finally back,
but from a concept I don't like in the Ackerman power... eh. 4/10. |
