| Out of context, premise sounds like a typical shoujo manga plot, but in context, ship bait kings are making an original anime about an animator who doesn't understand the idea of heterosexual (judging by the trailer) love? This is the most meta-ironic anime I've seen since Dogo Koba animated LN about a heroine obsessed with cute girls. |

| A cynical way of looking at this is that MAPPA is trying to sanitize and romanticize the hellish anime production culture into a beautiful, feel-good story about human beings discovering the joy in life while making anime. Of course both of those things co-exist in the anime industry, but it's rich coming from a studio who caught so much flak grinding animators to dust in the past few years, isn't it? |

| A part of me wishes that its a darker, grittier, more grounded version of Shirobako... but knowing that its being made by Mappa, the higher ups at the company are unlikely to allow such a project to be greenlight in the first place. And I've a bad feeling that the "anime production" aspect will be as relevant to the show as "gaming" was in Gamers!. |
