Hana being turned into stone...Ruka's powers are no joke in this show.

However, it also appears Ruka was manipulated from the start. Man, this episode hits harder than the others in terms of psychological drama. It had a similar vibe to the previous season in some of the later arcs.

If I understood correctly, Hana obviously has the powers of Yoh and Ana because she is their son, and also the blessing in the form of a demonic power from her uncle Hao.

•In short, Hana is GREAT.

The original title also explored some pretty bold themes for battle shonen, but early episodes of the sequel seem like a bit of a mess. Or is the author still not over his edgy phase after the final of the last Shaman tournament?

Hana and Yohane getting cornered by Luca and Ryuji's gang, and without Amidamaru, he can't really do anything. What's even strange is why Luca deciding to act now, that Ryuji's buddies know that she's trouble, leaving him to contend with the Shaman spiritual realm, that Yohane sensing something wrong with her sister using Amaterasu, something which has been passed down from their father that's enough to eliminate the main Asakura line. But even with Daikyo having turned into stone like Amidamaru, how would he take action to save Hana?

Meanwhile, Hana being taken on a mind trip to the past seeing Yoh and Anna to protect him, it releases an unsurmountable wage of power, that not even Luca's Over Soul is able to take on the overwhelming onis that Hana is regenerating. And batch by batch does Luca try to defeat, that it grows bigger and bigger into one dark oni of darkness. The only way to decapitate him is Alumi using her Lucky Shot, and the reveal that in the midst of the save, Hana...met Hao?

Certainly, the best episode thus far, with its revelations.

Wait... so how the fuck did the Spirit of Earth not literally pull down the Helicopter like back in the original Shaman King?

HUH? Did they get A LOT weaker somehow after Hao took over as "God"?

.

Also, I guess Hao gave Hana a sort of failsafe to prevent him from fully being killed (again)

Tho... somehow... Anna 2... is able to one shot the dark oni? LOL... (not much of a failsafe is it? meaning if someone as strong as Anna 2 comes for Hana... he's really ded ded)

This series' Death is Cheap Trope has been elevated to having a protagonist who died before the story even began.
Adult Yoh and Anna look like they were in the middle east or something and have to fight human-piloted helicopters with a nerfed Spirit of the Earth.
Having your uncle basically be god comes in handy, though there's a price to be paid when he and your dad are at odds. Look at all those Oni. Alumi was trained by Anna, but Hana has Anna's blood running through him.

Luca's cycloptic shrine's visual resemblance to that CEO dude's pyramid isn't a coincidence then. The other Asakura branch showed no signs of wealth, so he's presumably the actual one pulling the strings and the Zion mall owner.

I still they think they may not actually be Asakuras, maybe the guy with the Pyramid or his predecessor brainwashed their crazy dad who loves cosplaying Hao.

Novels I have read/am reading pending approval: since November 10 2022

Great episode the best so far but i refuse to believe Yoh Asakura with the Sprit of earth couldn't stop a helicopter when spirit of fire destroyed basically an entire navy. Only way i can see is Yoh deciding not to kill the people inside.
You know the British Empire was pretty cool, we definitely peaked with it.
