The 11th and final episode of the Dr. Stone: New World Part 2 television anime announced the final season, titled Science Future, on Thursday.

Produced by TMS Entertainment, the first anime season premiered in 24 episodes in Summer 2019, followed by the 11-episode second season in Winter 2021, and a special episode in July 2022. The first 11 episodes of the third season aired in Spring 2023, with the second part debuting on October 12. Crunchyroll streamed the anime series with English subtitles worldwide, excluding Asia.

Dr. Stone adapts Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi's post-apocalyptic adventure sci-fi manga, which ran in Weekly Shounen Jump from March 2017 to March 2022. Shueisha published the 26th and final volume in July 2022.

A nine-chapter side story, titled Dr. Stone Reboot: Byakuya, was serialized in the same magazine from October to December in 2019. The manga has a cumulative 14 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English and shipped the 26th and final volume on July 4. Shueisha is also releasing the manga and side story digitally in English on its Manga Plus platform.

There's like 90 chapters still left to adapt. So them calling this the final season is kind of a cause for concern.

Morever the PV shows they're planning to adapt it till the last.

3 cours for the final season is great but 2 cours only can be done since anime adaptation usually adapts 3-4 manga chapters anyway so it can be done in 24 episodes total for the remaining chapters

@Softhenic03 So, the full adaptation of the manga will consist of four seasons and one special? This makes me wonder if they will add or expand the story in any way once it's finished. As far as I know, the author released a couple of specials after the finale and that’s it.

@RobertBobert Hope they do, but that's still very far away. Going by the trend, it could be a couple of years before we get the final season. Just hope they do get enough episodes, to not rush whatever there's been in the last stretch.

@Softhenic03 How many episodes might they need to adapt the remaining chapters more or less well? Does the manga have enough popularity that the ending of the story would receive an unusual number of episodes like Frieren and the Titans?

@RobertBobert Maybe the length of two cours at the very least. But who knows, seeing the recent trend, we could've another coming of final season part 'x' kind of thing lol.

@Softhenic03 Split broadcast to extend the adaptation life over a longer period of time?

@RobertBobert Of course, that's the way these days after all. We literally had third season that way too.

@Softhenic03 That time I was salty that I only got one special at the end of the 2022 year since they moved the first cour of the next season to this year.

Maybe it will have additional specials or a movie besides the show. Right now the one air balloon special was canon to the manga. Rushing the series at its very end, especially since manga has finished, makes very little sense besides the cynical business side of things not caring for a series that has no currently releasing manga to promote.

Is it finally ending? Good, good. It went too long already. Started as a good science fiction and ended up being lazy written mid-schooler fantasy with lots of absurdism and bad screening. It is a bad habit of the Mangaka, he starts good but forces himself too much to stretch story like a chewing gum and it decays quickly. I was also not able to finish his Eyeshield 21 and dropped.

Who would have thought that a shounen manga will have elements typical for the demographic it was dedicated to? ;)) It's like complaining that a novel for adults is not as flashy, dynamic and full of gags like a novel dedicated to teenagers, or even young adults.

With 90 chapters left to be adapted, I'm concerned about the quality of the last season. Even if it will consist of 3 regular cours, it may still be not enough. Not without at least one special episode, with length of at least 1h.

Dr. Stone anime adaptation has presented a very high production quality since the beginning. What's more, its overall quality of adaptation itself, have been simply fantastic, if you ask me. I'm familiar with the manga, so naturally I'd be more critical if something went wrong, but nope - the anime has been awesome and even exceeded my expectations in the third season. That's why it'd be a bummer to see the final season having the story rushed, all for the sake of wrapping it up completely in just that one season. But we will see. I trust in TMS Entertainment and I will have fingers crossed to see another brilliant season.

@uyuryazar You're high as hell. It's only gotten better and it hasn't gotten any silier than it already has been. The science mixed with slightly hieghtened anime magic realism has stayed internally consistent and the story has gotten better and bigger. It's also not stretched out at all, I feel like regardless of how you feel the manga ended, he did everything he needed to do from Senku => End game for it to feel like you care about all the characters, but not dragging it out with unnecessary arcs. Every arc had a specific goal to saving humanity

ANYWAY, I AM HYPED AS HELL!!!!
