There is definitely going to be a major animation shift. Even more so than Jjk I expect it to be similar to one punch man in terms of creativity, insane action sequences with pretty standard animation for the non action scenes

animation will be cool asf but i will miss the cinematic movie-type approach they took with season 1 as well as the animation style in general

season 2 will be fire regardless

All the haters would wouldn’t shut up about how Chainsaw Man Season 1 “failed” and that it would get cancelled are gonna be real quiet once this news becomes more widespread. 😂

I could care less about the vocal minority hating this show. The anime adaptation is superb. I am just sad that Season 1 cut a solitary muscular demon scene by episode 2. A Season 2 as a sequel to the series would be great. But what else would they include in a movie? Is it anime original? Who knows? We'll just have to wait and see.

the reason there are "so many unhappy with the director" is because while the haters were sending death threats, everyone else was actually watching the show. I got on cr the moment the show was streaming, and there were already dislikes, like bro: the episode has been online for 7 minuites. you didn't even watch, you lil' bitch

Yeah, cos they're little loli-obsessed bitches who got their knickers in a twist over some imagined disrespect an actually interesting director gave to their beloved, brain-dead tropes lmao.

Whatever though - if they want to eat the same shit everyday for the rest of their lives, who are we to stop them? Just wish they would let us have that one interesting adaptation once in a while, but noooooo.

Yeah they’ve made petitions to remake it with a new director and celebrated when the blu ray sold poorly

I'm not excited at all even if we get another season or a movie because that director isn't around anymore because I really enjoyed his creative cinematic direction approach a lot.Though I'm still curious, who's gonna replace him.

Why did so many people not like the director of season 1? I’m fairly new to anime as a whole and thought season 1 of CSM was great. Didn’t notice much wrong with any of the direction?? Can someone explain pls

For a big project they will legit hire another talented director but I wish they'd continued using the same staff from s1.
Swear anime ,football and music fandoms just hate just for the sake of it instead of giving valid reasons.

people's Exceptions, for starters jjk and csm are similar but the difference JJK IS FULL ANIME STYLE WITH HIGH PACED ACTION and everyone can enjoy but CSM WAS HYPED AF FOR YEARS and marketed it to be different style of anime "cinematic style" with slow paced Tarantino style with realism fights, but CHAINSAW MAN IS NOT ANYTHING LIKE THAT, YES CSM IS CINEMATIC BUT NOT REALISTIC, the pacing was off and the colors of the anime is dull, when i go to KFC, i know what I'm getting, a fast food not vegetarian foods lol

That comparison is retarded and makes no sense. There's nothing wrong with the pacing at all.

"Colors are dull"... let me guess: your definition of "CSM colors" are volume covers? Or the absolutely horrendous Shueisha colored version that just throws colors everywhere with no consistent asthetic purpose? Fuck off.

I compare pacing and it's good. If you had problems with colors buy new monitor or check your setting, use DP or something. But what about the soul?

I think this is what they mean by dull colours 👇

And really a lot (most) of the people complaint about the dull colour pallet and CSM being too cinematic. (That's why there are many rumors about director changing)

And for pacing, I found this 👇

L take, chainsaw man can have both great action when it's needed and be cinematic for the quiet moments. And the action was just not there.
Don't blame the audience when you are not able to please it.

Also mappa had a shitty schedule as always, they were pressed by time in the last episodes where the quality decreased, and it's their fault for that.

Well, if Ryuu Nakayama isn't directing Chainsaw Man, I'll finally have a reason to be hyped about this next season. The "cinematic" approach of the first season barely clicked with the story. Every non calm scene of this anime just felt off to me, specially the comedy. The anime as a whole was stupidly well produced, but in a wrong direction, again just imo. I think a psychedelic adaptation (similar to Jojo or even Heion Sedai, made by Mappa) is the wright way to adapt the action scenes and the comedy would simply be so much more funny if it went in the "Bocchi the Rock" (in the sense of exaggerated expressions and break of anime conventions) direction imo. I'm 100% ok with just ignoring the approach of this first season and going in another direction, trying to make something unique and closer to the manga experience but in their own way, instead of just making Jujutsu Kaisen with higher production values but with a grayer pallette and no charm.

Sequel in movie format sounds great. I wished to see the upcoming arc in this format, so it'd be great to see an official announcement of it.

Sad to hear that Ryuu Nakayama won't be in charge of this show anymore. I loved his approach to adapting this series.

I really just don't get the hate for the direction they took with Chainsaw Man, easily the best looking MAPPA anime to me and one of the best looking anime in general, the style is actually the main thing I enjoyed about the season.

New season plus a movie is really good. The ratings and numbers for the show must be crazy for them to make a movie.

Most of the anime (popular titles) nowadays are investing into movies (for canon or sequel) after the success of the demon slayer: mugen train.
As, studios can deliver better animation and pacing compared to a full season.

Also, the anime itself was a financial success. The only concern was the bluray/DvD sales were not as good as they expected (maybe they expected a little too because of the hype).
And most of the hate is coming from manga readers or japanese audiences. ✌️

All the pretentious emo slo-mo walks, contemplative deep stares in horizon & smoking scenes makes me think this is what director thinks deep Hollywood show looks like,'all style no substance', when in reality chainsaw man is not that deep & needed more upbeat, dynamic & fast paced direction opposed to dull, monotonous one, you can't make a Scorsese character drama about a show where main message is 'touch boobs=bad'

Such a shame... it was one of the only anime I've watched in a long time that felt like a competently made show instead of being completely amateur. Forgot anime fans hated things that were actually well written and directed. God forbid making a show that doesnt make me want to kill myself as I watch it smh

S1 director made an enormous work: i wasn't expecting to get smth so adult in the best way possible.
so many details and creativity in such a teenage work... it turns out to be a serious work about war.
about a real war.

11/10, for breaking all the bad expectations
