The reason Shun doesn't notice that the legendary firefighter is Daigo's father is probably because Daigo is a popular family name, like Smith or Johnson.

The next episode will be quite interesting, instead of fighting fire, the squad will fight the water. Keep exceeding my expectations!

No, he's not Daigo's father. He's Asahina Daigo the MC from the prequel "Megumi no Daigo"

Daigo Toake changed his name for some reason maybe Asahina Daigo saved his life back then I guess

There is going to be a new special team and for the looks of it the three main characters will be there, the first recruit was yuki.

Amakasu Shiro from the prequel who was Asahina Daigo's rival/partner has made an appearance and has offered Yuki a spot in Fire Company M. Shun realized that he needs to work twice as hard if he wants to get Yuki's attention as she is already inspired by Asahina Daigo.

Srsly ... what's happening ?!?

Another week, another ep with absolutely NOTHING in it.
The intro says it all: 1:30 minute for a character walking in the street. And that's it. No dialogue, no context, no nothing ... a whole 1:30 just here to fill the length.

I tried as much as I can but after 10-15 I had to fast forward to an actual scene, to a memorable moment, to something that makes a point ... but there was nothing.

Why even bother to call that Daigo and make some name dropping (to keep the viewer awake I guess) when there's absolutely NOTHING to show ?

I don't get what's happening, this has nothing to do with what the show was about in the beginning. (°o°)

I wonder if Daigo was in that fire too and that’s why he changed his name to that or did he just do it because he was in a fire and that’s the name of the Legendary Firefighter.

Yuki's story why she became a firefighter and her recruitment to the Fire Company M...

still the pacing of this episode is quite slow~

Looking forward to the next episode though!

Yuki Nakamura's backstory, of a fire that sadly claimed a hotel and its occupants 10 years ago, one of which was her family which she would be the only one surviving and being saved by one of the famous firefighters of Asahina Daigo, she would spur her career into firefighting as well. But as much as the media wants to get a scoop of the tragedy that struck her all those years ago, someone stopped her in her tracks before she could get the answer out. To Shun, his confession to Yuki was rather late, and to make things clear, it was Asahina Daigo that would make his mark on Japan's firefighting scene: the father of Toake, whom like father, like (probable) "son", does the controversial to best the firefighting system.

Shun, feeling like a jerk that he asked Yuki out before knowing her backstory of Asahino Daigo serving as her inspiration. Yuki being whisked away by Shiro Amakasu, Asahina's buddy-cum-rival, he knows her dedication to the Tokyo Fire Department, and recruits her to the exclusive Fire Company M even if it limits her exposure outside.

Competition has begun...

I still love how slow-paced the rescues are...

But I hate how they also do that to other scenes! What was that "conversation"?

Also, Shun's conclusion kinda sucked. I thought he was embarassed about how he became a firefighter to land with Yuki, but from the last scene, I guess he still just wants to get together with her? Talk about poor motivations...

The backstory for Yuki was good though, at least that's one positive remark for this weak episode.

I thought I liked slow-paced shows, and I thought this show did slow moments better than action-packed rescues. This episode proved me wrong.

I could not believe what I was watching. The scenes were simple but just so dragged out. Every beat and pause was sooo long and awkward that it was bordering on comedy.

Supervisor: "You... caught my attention."
Yuki: *surprised*
Yuki: "..."
Supervisor: "..."
Supervisor: *smiles*
Yuki: *surprised, moved*
Supervisor: *continues smiling*
Supervisor: *notices*
Supervisor: "Your shaved ice is melting..."
Yuki: *reacts*
Yuki: *looks down at shaved ice*
*Slow camera pan up the shaved ice*
Yuki: *takes a bite*
Yuki: *pauses in thought*
Supervisor: *stares*
Supervisor: "Are you ready?"
Yuki: *looks up*
Yuki: "Eh?"
Supervisor: "You lost your whole family..."
etc. etc.

This entire exchange takes 55 SECONDS. What the heck is this???

I still think the characters' personalities, their backstories, the subject matter and the slice-of-life aspect are likeable and interesting. But all of that is being suffocated by the ridiculous time-wasting the likes of which I have never seen before.

I blame whoever was responsible for ordering 24 episodes to cover whatever amount of story they have in mind. It's not the episode director's and animator's fault for receiving a script that consists of like 3 simple scenes to fill 24 minutes.

That was really good to have more explanation and backstory regarding Yuki, so it makes sense she wanted to become a firefighter since her whole family got killed in that massive hotel fire :S And she got saved by Daigo's father it seems like

So Yuki and Daigo each has own demons from the past. That past is what drove them to become firefighter and try to redeem themselves so to speak. Where’s that leave the third member in all of this.
