I've read this anime has a huge manga set, which makes me wonder if there's going to be a storyline for us to follow instead of having new story week to week. The storylines to each episode have been great thus far. They're 10/10, well-written and smart. Just curious if they'll approach season two (assuming their is one) with a main story.

Can’t say for sure, there aren’t even 10 chapters of the manga translated. It isn’t a long one, but it has 2 more sequels of which the latest one is still ongoing. That said, despite how much I’m liking it so far I highly doubt this show is ever gonna get a second season

It has two sequels but I don't think they will change their current format near the end of the series and I highly doubt that it will get a second season. But I don't have an issue with it tbh the format is one of the reasons why it's the anime of the season for me.

For me it's also anime series of the season and even a contender thus far for anime of the year, along with Tengoku Daimakyou. I also don't count second/later seasons of pre-2023 series though. I usually only count and consider them in the original year in which they started.

I could watch many seasons of this. 15 years on from 2008, it seems almost like a spiritual successor to Eve no Jikan. Maybe a little less dramatic and a little more casual/laid back in tone and approach with the protagonist being a slightly older and more professional deadpan-esque character. Well, the individual anthology-style one-off stories can definitely be and have dramatic moments, but we don't stay with them individually for too long in classic anthology style and the serenity of Sudo's clinic is like a nice grounding anchor and throughline for the series.

@WatchTillTandava Just checked your affinity profile because you put Tengoku up for anime of the year, which "Yes, it is" for me currently, you have to finish Wonder Egg priority and From the New World! I saw we both have a seven on Fire Hunters, but that anime has so much frickin potential. I'm more psyched for season two of FH more than any other show right now.

Hah, yes, thanks for the heads-up. I actually just watched the first episode of the second season today. I originally finished the first season back last May and I remember that the second was announced immediately right after the first finished airing. I had added it to Kitsu and some other anime/logging-related websites, but for some reason forgot to add it on MAL so only did so very recently (literally today). But yes, definitely very much watching. I read on the sub-forum as well that it's expected to conclude the series.

@WatchTillTandava Hopefully they'll have the time to delve into the whole story in this season, but I'm getting Nier vibes from the space station
