The episode was enjoyable overall, I don't know about the set up for the next episode though fells iffy. Looking forward to more.
First time, First review hype.

Edit: So I've noticed alot of people annoyed at the lack of baking, however this is a great kingdom building anime, with a theme toward sweets. I'd never heard of it before release however going in with no expectation. I've greatly enjoyed him working towards a 'Kingdom of Sweets'.

It was hilarious how Pas got scolded by his dad again, too bad his friend also got a hand full, or should I say head full 😂! I too am concerned on what Count Retes has planned for Pas at the tea tasting ceremony. It's cute of Licorice to come live with Pas in the Fief, which actually makes me wonder, has he had any experience in romance in his past life? Sure he couldn't have focused only on sweets all his life🤣. You know if he thinks about it, if he and Licorice have kids, he could teach them the wonder of baking sweets, it could be his legacy!

Well I was wrong I guess, there's no pastry-making on expense of the rich engagement yet. We're already on episode 8 and the patissier twist means absolutely nothing in this isekai.

Enjoyable episode it was great seeing Lady Licorice come to stay with Pas, they are so cute together but i really don't like the sound of this Tea tasting party that Pas has been invited to it definitely sounds like a trap

clearly pas wasn't at all thrilled to have his fiancee stay with them for an extended amount of time, but too bad for him. that was his fault for not really considering his words carefully when talking to licorice's father lol

Well … as he keeps saying, he has to work towards having a peaceful life with an income to start making pastries.

It seems the first season sets that up and maybe later seasons he will be making treats.

I did not read written material, but that seems logical to me
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

When Casserole said "I have a new girl in my life!", was that a strangely worded translation in order for the "funny" misunderstanding to work? What did he say in japanese?

Pas' quest for making a country of sweets continues with him literally solo-quarrying a mountain to make reservoirs for his nectar trees 😂

I find it hilarious that Countess Retes is somehow open to the idea of snatching Pas into a marriage agreement due to his potential as a powerful noble if only they were aged close enough, well too late for her, Licorice is already there and Pas can only make her fall in love with him even more.

Yes, I know how you feel.
Instead of just focusing only on the baking scenes, we get an interesting world building from this, interesting characters, and a wholesome story. They should've added more tidbits that may or may not be the main goal of the story, like background stories of supporting characters. I do hope they will eventually adapt them... seriously.

They simply don't get the allure of the series they're watching.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

At this rate I just want another food done before season ends. Boy needs some quality time to do his shit and not participate in all these noble stuff all the time.

Its hilarious how unimportant and non-existant sweets are in this show.

Casserole having a new future bride, it shocked Agnes out...or rather, she's anticipating the future between Pas and Licorice.

The marriage of the kids, which effectively grows the kingdomship, not to mention Pas's potential. Other than that, Pas is slowly growing his sweets culture through different means as Casserole's profits come raking in after a lengthy time in the red. With new refugees in the village including some of the bandits from before, the bad news that Pas is off to Le Milotte on his new adventure, he just can't sit still to create his sweets empire, starting with the reservoir to build trees. Though that quickly got found out by Casserole, the kid couple also got it from Casserole.

Well, Count Retes may be down, but she's not out yet. Since the marriage between the Houses of Kadlecek and Hubarek causes her to panic, enticing the little Morteln area would be better for her, and she sent a letter only calling for Pas for a tea tasting ceremony, it sounds sus as heck. For now, Licorice will be living in the village to better understand Pas, that's the only reason why she will be there.

Devise the disguise around the trap...

I was much relieved in the first part of the episode where Licorice was nowhere in sight, so that Pas was free to do his reservoir and tree planting shenanigans. I thought the show had sidelined her, but unfortunately Licorice is now coming to live in the village. I understand why people think Licorice and Pas is a cute couple, but Licorice is going to intrusively get in the way of anything happening, and she's so uninteresting of a character. Pas doesn't even really like her, he only inexplicably out-of-character started saying he liked her after he was forced into an engagement with her. There's no chemistry between the two, no shared interests, nor shared goals. Their screen time together is going to be uninteresting and boring unless Licorice gets a lot of character development fast, or the show puts them in creative situations.

I'm actually more looking forward to that red headed regent Brioche hitting on Pas and trying to marry him because I'm anticipating that to be hilarious.

Countess Retes trying to get some clout from Pas lol but she’s too old to do it the conventional way through marriage. Pas comes up with the idea of making water reservoirs to help with plant cultivation and Casserole takes it a step further with incorporating water ways too. Big surprise with Licorice arriving to stay over at his place. Episode was decent not much action but a lot of development behind the scenes
