I'm beginning to worry that this will dive too deep into politics and forget that Pas is supposed to bake sweet, not solving kingdom crisis.

Well, 1/3 of the show has passed and there was no cooking involved, just talk of food. I think your fears might be justified. If these topics are anything to go by, I'd say majority of people have given up at episode 3.

So that's how to get tattoos in an Isekai. Didn't know that 😂
A new method of finding marriage candidates hast been found.. of course from our MC. The so-called marriage candidate photo.
There's stress in the air. A countess who invades other kingdoms with bandits... There could be more to this..

For an isekai about pastries & sweets, sure, it talks more about politics. Not complaining here, this anime so far has decent worldbuilding, not too stretched, kinda reminds me of the Ascendance of a Bookworm. But kinda wish it more focused on making pastry in a few next episodes after solving the village problems.

How in the heck would a sweets loving dude know so much about agriculture/negotiation techniques. I like isekais but that's the one thing that always bugs me. The protagonist has to be so good at literally everything.

Also silly me I thought he was going to make sweets and then replicate them. The photo idea is still cool as hell though.

He got the money and he advertised his magic skills too. I still want to know the limits of his magic. It can copy, but can it copy something like a piece of fruit and have the same fruit come out? We see that he can make pictures and henna tattoos.

He did cook an apple bonka pie, which they brought up again in this episode.  So 2 times?

This is one of the few examples of an isekai protag who is OP but not in terms of dragon ball planet destroying offensive power but in terms of manipulative skills.

It was actually cool that while he was able to manipulate the countess, he was still able to kind of win her over in some way - now that's some politics right there.

I really forgot that they all had food names until they mentioned that the Lady/Dutchess(?) was called Brioche, and then remembered that "Pas" is short for "Pastry" 😂 (also "Casserole").

Enjoyed the episode, although she seemed to be very easily stumped by the "negotiations" (basically Pas saying "We were attacked" and then her relenting and calling him "exceptional" where it's more that she's kind of mid). Fun episode though and nice to watch while eating dinner 😬

I'm loving this series even more, it's more strategic planning than sweets for some reason... lmao

P.S. Someone forgot to start this sub-thread. 🤣
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

That's a gud point! That's a bit of a plot hole as they don't even bring up the idea but perhaps that would raise concern in how they even acquired that gold. They are making it seem to others that his magic is to create paintings so questions are limited and others do not know his actual magic's potential. I guess if he replicated gold, he'd throw the whole nation's economy system out the window and he and the whole town would become a big target.

Pastry is vicious at negotiating and blindsiding the other side, I was expecting him to have her spread word of his art ability rather than going for mentary compensation, but he went for both.

So far we only have seen him transfer one thing onto another thing. So i guess he cant make copies of stuff? But id assume he could possibly turn things into gold though maybe they would only appear as gold and not be actual gold. Of course he would collapse the economy if he did too much and he would have to keep it a secret if he did make gold for that reason and because he would be a target for kidnapping.

I think the limitation to his duplication skill is not properly explained yet or maybe even Pas doesn't know what is the actual limitation yet.

For example, he says if he duplicate a picture to a human skin it only lasted for 3 days but it is indefinite if he do it to a tree. But what is the actual constraint of this limitation.

Maybe if he duplicated gold then it only lasted for 3 days too. If he use that gold to buy something then it means he scammed people. And if people start noticing then it won't be good for his safety and his village. This idea seems to a bit reinforced by the fact he never tried to duplicate any food ingredient, even though food is usually the first thing that comes to his mind.

One of the limitation is he has to seen the thing he want to duplicate before. However, this limitation also not properly explained. He seems unable to copy burn effect when there is no people with burn effect nearby even though he already seen it because he didn't try to burn the bandit leader in the previous episode. Or maybe source of the burn that he wants to duplicate has recovered by now and only the scar remains. But on the other hand, he can duplicate spell that he has seen without needing anything nearby. Does this means copying spells / abilities has different limitation than duplicating things. What happens if the source of the spell that he want to duplicate cease to exist? If his dad dies, will he still be able to duplicate the teleport spell? He has seen it, but the source of the spell doesn't exist anymore.

Another question toward this limitation, can he duplicate an item that he has seen in his previous life? Can he duplicate a tank or minigun or grenade the next time his village is attacked?

After I watched episode 4 today, I went ahead and read a bit further in the manga. From as far as I've gone, it seems like the writer has forgotten the whole patisserie thing lol. Doesn't really bother me though, cuz if it was just a bunch of baking it'd probably get boring. Someone mentioned Bookworm earlier; I liked how Myne's book love was at the core of everything for her; books were her pastries hehe. The writer never let that fall to the wayside.

traed said:

That was my first thought, I assumed he'd do that or use the skill to replicate the pie ingredients to remove the materials cost.

The bandit raid is done, but they're broke so fast, and even worse, cut family ties to borrow money is an approach that Casserole will not want to deal.

Lumi and Marc are that kind of kid couple that'll be fun to tease them with, but Pas is still thinking of ways to make his pastry dreams known. And inputting magic from something drawn to something akin of a temporary tattoo, to do it the reverse way gives Pas an idea for Casserole to make his 13-year-old daughter Josie be wed, and matchmaking portrait photos just will do.

Going to Retesvale in the Country of Retes to meet the eldest daughter of Brioche Salvatore to negotiate a deal, though the tea treats were nothing of noteworthy to Pas. Pas has got negotiation skills to throw Brioche off and get reasonable compensation. Brioche asking for Pas's complements to the tea treats, and he sure doesn't let his tongue let loose.

One step closer to kingdom-hood for Pas, another behind for actual pastry.

So we get more experimentation with Pas’ copy skill and he can start reproducing art like a camera. He negotiates with the neighboring countess for compensation regarding the bandits who were remnants that were let go from the Episode countess. Pas straight up deconstructed their lies on the spot and even bargained for 150 gold, in the end he even critiqued their baked goods. Interesting episode but lack of sweets and baking
