probably 11 since it seems most logical that they will graduate and become adults at the same time

Have not seen the anime yet. Based on the character designs, you must be describing Cyrus Rivermoore.

That is a good question, I have not thought about it when I read the LN so I decided to check the LN just now.

According to Volume 6.

usually in this era, the legal age is ≤ 15, if you really want to know, besides that, this is a fictional story, obviously.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Stupid comments aside, first years enroll when their are 15 which is the average age of the core cast.

Now this is what happens in anime. So we have to believe that dude who looked like a fucking 25 yo is actually a teenager

No where did this show say that tho. You also have no idea how the school's curriculum works to begin with. You're the one assuming like some modern public highschool or something. BTW, there people who still go to college in their 40s IRL.

Well given no other info. The only thing I can base off of is how school works in the actual world. But what you say might be the case.

Yes, but the show never tells you his age either so there no basis to assume he's teenager. All we know is that he is a fifth year and Ophelia is 4th year. He could have been held back for all we know.

main cast is probably 15-16 year old and that beard guy in Ep2 is in his 5th year so probably 20-21.

That fifth year Cyrus Livermore? He's more like "I'm five days away from retirement".

first years are around 15. They graduate around 22. Probably count +/- 1 year since like any school it depends when in the year they're born. It's basically like 3 years of high school + 4 years of university from our point of view. A 5th year would be in his 2nd year of university here.

The anime made Rivermore look older than he should, but he still look fairly old for being 20 regardless. He's a necromancer after all. Living along the living dead in the middle of mausoleums breathing air filled to the brink with death related magic is probably not the best living style to look young.

also, most animes base their curriculum on the real-world school curriculum so it'd make sense to go to that first

This isn't tho. In Kimberly academy your expected to be there for "7" years. This what headmistress said back in episode 1.

That and before 15 mages in Kimberly were homeschooled. That's because mage families focus on passing down their arts on their kids, so that their kids can continue and improve their magic arts.
