i'm just watching and wanting to determine if they're doing the character "Vash" justice. is he goofy, lackadaisical, kind hearted and badass enough? i'm not sure yet. but i enjoyed the "for the price of 1 bullet i could buy 2 dozen donuts". haha

i think i skipped the opening last episode. i watched the whole thing this time. i think it was solid

the show itself is ok. hard to judge since i've watched the original and know what's going on. i'm going to have to snoop around and check out the thoughts of first-time Trigun watchers

For all you guys preferring the old one and trashing this retelling do yourself a favor and try to rewatch the OG trigun. I bet you would'nt be able to stomach it and you would drop it very fast iin this day and age since it aged BADLY.
you're saying the only people who liked the original are old people who watched it as kids and haven't watched it since?

i thought Trigun was exceptional, but i never heard of it or watched it until 21 years after it debuted. not sure your hypothesis is all that accurate

I can't say I would be interested in this story at all if not for the original Trigun. The storytelling here just isn't as compelling.
this is exactly how i feel. the first episode gave us the "dessert" without first making us eat our "dinner". what's the point after that? most of the mystery and intrigue from the original is thrown out the window immediately in Stampede. so now Stampede needs to really crush it with character development and worldbuilding/lore at this point, which is easier said than done for any anime

i will say, there's a little catch 22 going on though. would i like it more if i hadn't watched the original Trigun? or do i only watch Stampede because i liked the original? impossible to say haha

Jesus fuck, Vash was a donut guy  not pizza! He is not fucking Dante from Devil May Cry!
i assume the sub said pizza? lmfao. i'm certain the dub said 2 dozen donuts. i think i probably wouldn't care if they changed it to pizza and we see him eating it in later episodes. it's a new show afterall. but Vash will always been a donut man in my heart

Now that I'm back, I'm gonna catch up on the show. Loved this episode as well. Loved Vash's kindness. This was another great episode. RIP Gofsef.

There's so much movement here, very cool to watch it for that but that's kind of it, the execution of Vash here has been confusing, so I'll keep watching for now to figure this out. Also, for something having a veteran like Yuuji Kaneko as art director, the backgrounds look awful in comparison.

I'm pretty disappointed by how Vash's character has been handled in this reboot, especially since his personality is pretty much the entire draw of this series for me. The original show characterises Vash as someone who is very overskilled, but easy to underestimate through his unconditional love of life. He's a pretty volatile character, but not one you would ever pin as being weak, since he always uses his extreme emotions as motivation to act on what he believes in. By comparison, the Vash in this reboot is kind of just a coward twink who's constantly at the mercy of those around him and begs for what he wants in lieu of actually standing up for what he believes in. You can kind of see the stark difference between the two through how the escape scene in this episode compares to the ones in the original season. Maybe Vash was just afraid that the townspeople would take Roberto and Meryl as hostages should he escape, but they let them walk free on multiple occasions.

It's also unfortunate that Milly has been eschewed from her role in the show as Meryl's colleague, but I think we'll be seeing her again sometime soon. From what I can tell, the people behind this show genuinely want to make something that pleases the fans, I just feel that they found it wise to trade her for a character that allows for more worldbuilding, which I can respect. The locales in the original season were a pretty big draw for me when I first watched it.

I'll give another episode a go, though I'm undecided as to whether I'll be sticking with this.

I just can't take this anime serious.. it feels so looney tooney. Despite how vash is supposed to be laid back I just can't.

Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.

Vash is literally the meaning of empathy. I love how, despite the design change (which I LOVE) it has not lost the essence of the first adaptation.
The chase scenes and fights have been great, it's a very fluid animation.

Please don't show us a recap of Vash & Knives escaping the ship at the beginning of every episode.

This was a mostly fun episode. Nothing excellent, but I had a good time with what felt like a very standard Trigun affair, at least based on my memory of the show from a decade ago. While I had forgotten their names, I definitely remember the Nebraska family, they were fun villains back then and still are today.

So pacifist Vash here is on the run due to a case of mistaken identity. So the plants, his arm and all that is lost tech now.

That attachy-bomb thing at the end looks like a virus but macroscopic.

Another great episode! I feel like this ep fleshed out Vash’s personality more, showing him as a truly selfless and kind man.

I absolutely looove the animation in this show! I think this is a great advocate for 3DCG cause it does it in the best way. It really proves that if the animation quality is right then 3DCG can be a great animation tool for anime

I'm honestly really digging the animation! I came in with kind of low expectations on that but I am pleasantly surprised. The voice acting (dub) is also really great, I don't usually watch dubs but since the original Vash VA is reprising his role, I decided to go for it since I grew up watching and re-watching in Eng.

That being said....

They really do seem to be speed running the story a bit. I wonder what they have in store when they have already introduced Knives and left hints for what's to come. I'm not giving up yet, and I don't mind cutting some of the "monster of the week" filler but this is moving quickly. I hope new viewers are able to stay invested.

More changes to the story and characters that just seem strange, Not bad but strange when the original story did it better in my opinion. I want to love this but it just feels like a weird imitation of the original story just modernized in CGI.

The town's people did Vash dirty but he came back to save them for a second time. Hopefully Gofsef is okay :<
