Why doesn't Light kill just criminals who are imminent threats like the 1st kill? Then Light would be just like Batman, Spider-Man or the CIA or whatever.

Why doesn't Light kill just criminals who are imminent threats like the 1st kill Kurou Otoharada which saved the children at the nursery school? Then Light would be just like Batman, Spider-Man or the CIA or whatever. Like why kill

  1. caught 'criminals' arrested, in jail or awaiting trial, who could actually be innocent
  2. acquitted 'criminals', who could really be innocent
  3. criminals already in prison, who, well, could actually be innocent like in The Shawshank Redemption or Prison Break

?

Why not just reserve the Death Note for those hostage kills like Light's 1st kill that are really justified homicides in defense of others or for those people on the CIA / FBI most wanted list or whom the US would drone strike like definitely guilty terrorists who are imminent threats and stuff?

Btw, it's 1 thing to 'play God' for people are definitely guilty, but why is Light killing people whose guilt isn't even established? Did anyone ever bring up to Light the possibility that Light might be killing innocent people?

you can read it in the first volume, maybe 2nd chapter

he wants to kill immoral people and people who don't contribute to society, he was never about that superhero action

also he is ready to kill people who aren't guilty if that means he will kill more people who are guilty than those who are not (something along the lines of sacrifice for the greater good)

Because he's not trying to be a hero. He's just bored, right? He only wants to kill people who are criminals and people who are trying to get in his way, like L and the FBI (though he wants to kill L more than anyone else). In Light's opinion, these are the people who deserve to die the most. There are some people he killed that didn't deserve it, but he was just testing/experimenting with the Death Note. He also wants people to know that there's someone out there killing off criminals, which would make bad people (who are not in jail) stop being bad, and make the crime rate drop. The criminals that are in jail have a 99% chance that they're guilty and actually should be jailed. Light probably just wants to get rid of all the bad people in the world as fast as possible, because he's trying to create his ideal world.
