Eren's dream (from episode 1) got changed in this episode. Ramzi's death was brutal. Hange was amazing! I thought her death was pointless in the manga but she really bought time for the others to escape. Glad they bought Bauklötze for that scene. One more episode left. I hope they'll adapt the extra pages too lol. sunny_senpai said: is it just me or did they fully skip that section where the whole population is forced to jump down the cliff and that iconic shot with the baby I feel like that will make for an excellent opening scene for the final episode so they'll definitely include it in the next episode. |

I'm almost lost for words and my feelings are all over the place. What an exceptional experience. Starting with the inner monologue of Eren, who was already aware about what would happen to everything surrounding him to the horrific extend the Rumbling has taken. The emotions and feelings Kaji Yuuki conveys through his role as Eren never fail to surprise me. This was the best example that there's almost no escape before the Rumbling. What a brutal sight when the two children were not only injured or even killed by the rubble of the house, but then even crushed under the massive Titan onslaught afterwards. Why do people act as if the romance between Armin and Annie is forced? Have you even watched the previous seasons? Armin has always had a thing for Annie, otherwise he certainly wouldn't have been visiting and talking to her all those times, when she seemed trapped in the crystal. With the world on the brink, I also see no problem why Armin shouldn't confess his love to her. It's not as if they had anything better to do in that specific moment on the ship. Good thing I brought tissues beforehand, because the Hange scene definitely got me crying, especially with Levi's words towards her before she went off to stall the Rumbling. She was there from the very beginning and so it just felt unreal seeing her go. She went out in an breathtaking way. The ODM gear animation during this part was magnificent and the OST choice superb. RIP on of the best characters in this show o7 What a powerful moment on the plane. The beginnings were made with the last season, but here it was even clearer that everyone present had a much better understanding for the other. I don't want to sugarcoat things because we're all aware of the heinous things committed by everyone on board. Still, this is the best proof that people can change. With the brainstorming on how they could possibly stop Eren and since Eren was also following this conversation, Armin and Co. were suddenly transported to the paths. Even with their efforts to talk Eren out of further genocide, they subsequently found out that a discussion with him was pointless. In order to obtain freedom, he must take freedom from the world, at least according to his way of thinking. This is also why Eren, even if he could, doesn't take control of Armin and the other titan holders. He doesn't want to act in the same way the world did with Eldians. Armin and the rest are free to protect the freedom of the world. With both sides unyielding convictions, a fight has now become inevitable. I'm not quite sure yet what exactly Falco's dream means, but I sincerely hope it will be of some help. I didn't expect to see the families of Reiner, Falco, Gaby and even Annie's father. It wasn't a bad idea at all to take the train to Fort Salta and then escape the rumbling in an airship. Unfortunately for them, any airships were on their way to stop the rumbling with bombs, which pretty much backfired. While it may be late and the Rumbling may be doing its part, it's still nice to see everyone showing remorse and how wrong they were in seeing the people of Paradise as devils. And so the probably last fight has now begun. Reiner's transformation, which we could already enjoy in the trailer, looked fantastic. In general, I'm extremely excited to see how this fight and Attack on Titan itself will unfold. Armin is absolutely right. If they drag him out of there, in what way is Eren still free? All in all and as already mentioned before, a magnificent experience that I wouldn't want to miss. Animation, particularly of the Rumbling Titans and the Hange ODM Gear scene, looked insanely good. OST's perfectly chosen as always and I hardly need to mention a word about the voice actors, since they've been doing a brilliant job in every of the past seasons and this was no exception. See you all in a couple of months for the big finale. (I'm still in shock that it's actually ending) |

After watching it again with better quality and some subtitles, the special definitely improved a lot. I guess the first time around I kept getting distracted by the odd pacing brought on by adapting four chapters back to back, providing less room for certain moments to really sink in. On re-watch, knowing what to expect from the special, it flowed a lot better and each scene was given the appropriate amount of time. The only area that still feels underwhelming (?) is the aftermath of Hange's death. The send-off itself was fantastic, with some insane animation and a great OST choice, plus the only moment to nearly get tears out of me when she softly smiled up to the sky after reuniting with her comrades. However, considering how important a character she's been throughout the series, it feels like the story moves past her departure a bit too quickly in order to discuss the plan against Eren. This is one area where going the normal episode route would've helped, as Hange's death feels like a perfect episode closer, not the midway point. Beyond at though, this special was damn good. The horrors of the rumbling were executed masterfully, with some horrifying imagery and tragic moments. The OST during Ramzi's death caught me off guard at first, being a much more visceral and horror like track than expected, but it fits in getting across just how fucked this whole situation is. The music selection overall was really solid, they finally used the vocal portion of Splinter Wolf! And the animation is among MAPPA's best for AOT, with Hange's big moment and the Aliiance sky-dive being particularly impressive. As for the story itself, it's mostly set-up for getting our main crew over to Eren, but there are some interesting bits, mostly in regards to Eren and his character. Seeing him fully admit the selfishness of his desires and completely break down, staring in the face of someone whose life he's going to violently stamp on, really gets across how tragic a character he is. With the power of the Attack and Founder, he has seen the future and feels trapped in this loop, a loop created by him and from his own desires. His two biggest desires are freedom for himself and his friends, and to wipe away everything getting in the way of that. While he comes to the realization that doing this will be horrible, he still trudges along solemnly, feeling like there's no other path. Whether there is or not is up for debate, since while it's been confirmed the story takes place in a closed loop, it's a loop born from Eren's own actions, so whose to say things couldn't have changed had Eren escaped his unhealthy mindset? It also leads into his "discussion" with Armin and co. At this rate, he has more or less accomplished what he set out to do, achieve freedom for himself and his friends, along with wiping away everything outside the walls. While he may be dead inside from single handily committing mass genocide, he continues to move forward, and whether that ends with him completing the rumbling or getting stopped by his friends, either way he has managed to fulfill his deepest desires despite what it cost. Only thing left to do is to fight, and see who comes out on top in the end. But damn, 6 months for episode 2? I get that these last few chapters will be hell to animate, but I fear it's going to take away from the momentum and excitement by doing it this way. Also, where's my to be continued screen?! You can't just break tradition like that with the penultimate episode! |

I talked about this particular scene, or rather lack of it, with my friend and we both agreed that it would be cool to leave it for the second episode. I think there are chances this scene might be used this way, but we will see. I believe in MAPPA, so I will accept any decision of them, regarding the scene we are talking about. |

An absolute masterpiece and I have honestly been left speechless. MAPPA absolutely nailed it. Hange's scene was emotional af, the Rumbling was horrific and it's horrors were portrayed perfectly. The osts were on point and the ODM gear scenes were chefs kiss as always. The alliance jumping from the plane and Reiner's transformation midair were pure hype. Big Monke throwing shit at them was hilarious tho. Got s3p2 vibes. The VAs also delivered their roles flawlessly. Yuki Kaji is a legend. Also RIP Ramzi, Halil and others as well. Thank you so much once again to everyone involved in the adaptation including Mr. Hayashi and the rest of the staff. They all deserve a break after AoT finally ends this year. And obviously who can forget to thank the GOAT himself, because of whom we were all able to witness the best series of all time - Hajime Isayama. God Bless Isayama man. |

Wow. what an episode that was, 1 hour of pure anime experience. this episode honestly made me rethink so many things about our lives, it was very sad and depressing but that's just the reality of us humans, we try to make the world feel better to hide the worse. I really didn't want Hange to die, it felt so unfair to see her go like that. but she died a hero at least. Eren is too far gone but i totally understand him and i relate to what he's feeling. because it's real. idk on one hand, sure i want the good side to win, but the thing is there is no good side, there are only victims. whatever happens i'm okay with it. Also the art style and animation in this episode is so good. |

I truly don't get why people love this show so much. They're all stupid especially eren. ๐คท like are we meant to feel something when eren's like "wah wah I'm disappointed in the world wah wah I'm gonna kill everybody" like no that's stupid he's dumb. also when did this shit turn into a romance๐ like also why anne and armin they look the same๐ this show isn't complex or philosophically deep or whatever y'all keep saying. Clownery represented by aoe copers is one thing, but the second funniest thing are people claiming that fanmade animations full of fanservice (towards people to whom Eren is their husbando) were better made than a scene created by pros for a minimovie (I repeat, minimovie, not "one cherrypicked scene from the manga"), lol. These fanmade animations were cool to watch and I respect their creators, but come on. Such comparison alone is quite silly to begin with, because of his unfair it is. I'm talking of course about people complaining about "Freedom scene" and what happens before it. |

Between showing the Rumbling in such detail(showing those kids getting crushed in the beginning) to the conversation in that spirit world-like place. Also RIP to Hange. Yeah, I mean Eren has no intention of stopping until the whole world is flattened so there is no other way to stop him than to kill him. But you are right, it does seem like that's what Eren wants based on what Reiner said about how Eren didn't take away their free will which he could have done. It may be the case that Eren wants them to kill him. |

A bit of a shame that we aren't getting the second episode until much later, but this was amazing. The Rumbling was terrifying and sad, and I like how convinced Eren is that it was the only way, but he still feels bad for causing a mass genocide. Hange's sacrifice was unexpected, but seeing how she joined her dead comrades broke me. I don't know what to expect of the ending, but I'm excited. I don't care if manga readers are saying it sucks, I'm going in with an open mind. If I hate it, then too bad. |

The return of the Attack On Titan 'Final' Season that isn't even the last part but it's still perfect. Everything from story to animation to characters is flawless. Sad to see that there is only one more episode left to conclude this masterpiece. I could not have worded it any better than you did. I agree with just about all of what you said. I also thought the romance scene with Armin and Annie was just fine. People need to chill with hating on it, like let them be! People fall in love all the time and love doesn't always make sense. However like you said, I thought it was somewhat built up throughout the show and had reason to it. I also thought it added more to the characters to have more development and see some different sides to them. It was also really cool to see how the world was reacting to it and also how all the characters have come so far and how much they've grown since the start. They realize that they are not at all perfect and have done many things that were bad and wrong as well. It was nice that they could all step into each other's shoes for a moment and think from the other character's perspectives. It definitely felt more real and humane to see that side of them. I thought it was also kind of neat how Annie chose not to go along with them to help with their plan, as it mirrors reality a bit more in therespect that not everyone agrees or is on the same page about what should be done about something. Also maybe they are right to try to stop Eren, as committing mass genocide is probably not the best solution to their problems. Even it's all just Eldians left, eventually after enough time goes by, divisions and future wars will still be bound to happen with humanity. That's just what people do... So to think that Eren is fixing the problem once and for all is just unrealistic. If anything it's only creating peace for a period of time. My only compliant is I think their OST selection could have been a bit better as they could have used some of the more awesome OSTs that we've come to know and love throughout the series. But other than that, I thought the whole thing was phenomenal and I can't wait to see the final part to end the series coming in the Fall! |

5/5 - 'It was perfect. Perfect. Down to the last minute detail' I love that MAPPA is pulling out all the stops for the ending, they even improved some of the parts that I found lacking in the manga. Hange's sacrifice seemed a bit rushed in the manga, but in the anime they gave her the best send off imaginable. The adaptation of the rumbling chapter (Chapter 131) was perfection, no censoring and the art direction was on point. Probably one of the best scenes in all of Attack on Titan. I am confident that if Mappa adapts the ending to be exactly the same as the manga, I'll still enjoy it due to how perfect the overall production is. |
