Does anyone else feel this season was a big step up from the previous two?

Just wanting to see some opinions on this. Season 2 was ultimately pretty boring IMO and while season 3 was a step up it still didn't sit right with me. Season 4 on the other hand feels like it was filled with much more action and Ainz's overwhelming pwer.

Unfortunately, S1 still remains better than all others.
Best ending line in anime history = "My name is Saiki Kusuo. I am a psychic."

I really liked Overlord season two, and it was my favorite before this season. I actually really dig the political aspect of Overlord more than the action and other things. The light novel actually does many things better than the anime especially season 3.
As Long as the Sun, the moon, and the Earth exist, everything will be alright.

I have only one thing to say this one of my best isekai Anime, although sometimes you don't understand that part or it seem epsiode are boring but if the plot is not put in a refined manner like in light novel that it becomes useless to be put up in anime version

I can’t help but wish that it was a bit more exciting. Overlord can be a slow burn at times, but the upcoming movie is going to be really good since they are adapting the Holy War arc.

I'd recommend you guys to jump straight to the light novels, preferably buy them. They are so much better.
They can't adapt everything which can make some parts more boring than others.

Overlord has been pretty much consistent since the beginning not in a bad way though.

nah I think they're all as good as the other. of course y'all have your preferences and want to see different things but generally the build up, the plot progression, the screentime of all the other characters etc. it's just well executed imo. Last season was just more epic cause finally that build up is going somewhere. that's how I see it at least. cant wait for season 5 y'all!

I enjoyed all seasons but I do agree that S4 felt like they put the most "effort" into it akin to the way S1 was presented.

A notable improvement was the animation. Overlord isn't known for sakuga or great visuals but none of the later seasons were able to look as good as S1 IMO. S4 however, looks just as good if not better and I think the 4-year gap between this season and the last really helped.

Season 4 IMO is probably the best in terms of story progression. Each season helps to establish a basis for the advancement of the plot like the LN's. Also, really looking forward to the movie which should cover the material skipped in Season 4.

Nope, this show in general has been a huge let down. From rampart sexims (misandry galore), to pointless story lines, hello lizard people, let's waste six episodes of S2 on them, to throw them to the curve. To cringe AF things like: Hey kids even wondered how Lizard ffuk? Don't you worry we've got you covered! (That awkward shreck scene between those two lizards in S2). And so on.
Me every time I hear the word "reparations": 🤣🤣🤣

I watched it for the first time this last month and I really enjoyed it but I don’t think it was anything superb. That being said it very well could be an anime issue I.e. maybe the light novela and manga are better because I feel the anime suffers from how short it is. Like they’re trying to build a very big world but 12 eps per season just doesn’t cut it because there’s two many characters to try to fit in so we go for like a half season without seeing certain characters or what they were doing

Definitely, this was much more similar to season 1 than season 2 and 3 were. Big step up.

Not really. The decline in excitement and purpose after season 1 years was all too apparent. Season 2 was a slight waste of time as was season 3 with their exhausting circumstances that did little to explain things that Ains was seeking answers to. And all the exposition that was neeedless went on and on...no answers about other players, the world that were signifigant or deeply indightful, just something with this demi human species or that group of humans. I had hoped season 3 would be better, but it wasnt by much, so I basically wrote off the series afterwards. Suprised to see a 4th season had been made, and finally got around to watching it, but it just doesnt hit right either. Season 1 was the best because things were fresh, but the tropes and jokes and bits and angles have become stale. Its just more of the same in slightly different form without real impact or point. NICe to see Dwarves thoguh ^<^ My fav fantasy race. *shrugs
To reiterate: Season 1 (best) > Season 3 was okay > And so far season 2 and 4 are equally just something to watch and zone out to listlessly. :P

Season 4 definitely has been better than first three, especially that shitty lizard people season.

Who the fuck spends an entire season on the most boring characters? Well, Overlord does.

That said. If season 5 happens, it'll be the last one. At this point it's obvious that writer of the manga had no idea WTF to do with the characters. Director of anime is as clueless as the writer of the manga.
