I only read a handful of chapters from the manga but Mihari to me seems very manipulative and creepy. All her antics are deemed as cute or caring instead of forceful, manipulative or damaging, and i get the feeling the show really wants me to know she is a 'nice person.' Am i missing something or is she supposed to be a questionable character?

She is basically Makima, who also manipulates mentally weak and vournable male into being her toy.
Obviously, the end goal might be that she wants the best for him, but there are better ways to achieve that and you can't really argue, that secretly drugging him wasn't kinda messed up and straight up sociopathic behavior.

Mihari really loves her brother so she devised the plan for him to no longer become a Neet due to caring about him.  I never seen any incest stuff in the series so I doubt she is a creep.

I actually disagree.  The benefit of him being gender bender is that people will treat him nicer by default.  I doubt the series wants to do a story about a serious story of a man overcoming social ostracism to land a low paying job.

I kind of agree. I got that same feeling in the early chapters. After it went along for awhile it went away and you see more of Mihari and she's just a nice person (with odd interests). There's no incest it's just like the anime tropes of the woman putting down the guy and making him feel bad and manipulating him and abusing him and

Either way i got the same feeling but it went away.

Did it hit home too hard about getting a NEET to do something? Theres plenty of other wish fulfillment for that subject, like Bocchi the Rock.

It does come off as weird for Mihari's character during the earlier chapters, as I found it strange that she turned her older brother Mahiro into a girl with some drug she made. I wasn't sure about reading the manga because of it, as I never read anything like it before & of course I wasn't into gender bender manga, but I gave it a chance & read more chapters & now I'm a fan of the manga/anime.

It might come off as creepy again during the early chapters of the manga, but it does stop once the story gets going. It also does seem weird that Mahiro is ok with being female now & is ok to wearing females clothes, even some times she is like, "Oh right, I have to remember my male heart." as Mahiro gets too caught up in wearing dresses or the bow that Mahiro puts in Mahiro's hair in one of the early chapters, Mahiro seems to enjoy it but then she gets mad & throws it to the floor.

Mihari does seem to care about Mahiro while trying help Mahiro adjust to life as a female & of course she tries to get him to go out of the house after not doing so for 2 years.

You’re the 1st person I’ve seen call Bocchi the Rock wish fulfillment. That’s an objectively correct label for that series

This is about as spoilery as Onimai can get, so

It doesn't make perfect sense, but that's generally the reasoning for it.

Remember when back in the day when cartoon was violent as fudge and no one complain about it? Not every shit had to be put on to logic. Like No, Dora were not blind or had any mentally illness.

She's basically the anime equivalent of those Reiko Harem discord threads.

Since Mahiro is currently being controlled by his lower half. He plays ero-games and reads hentai manga. He's a "home security guard." He's got a porn addiction essentially. Give him a body that he cannot pleasure, and it will be the first step to recovery! Then again, Mihari could have just given him a pill that causes erectile dysfunction. So...

It would be interesting, if Mahiro was actually a secret trans girl this whole time. Probably wouldn't be great transgender representation 😕.

But yeah, Mihari is terrible. Worst girl. Luckily, Mahiro doesn't seem terribly inconvenienced by the entire thing.

She's cool, she just wants to give her brother a better life, in a weird way but she has good intentions, don't overthink too much about it.

Mihari has to be one of the most evil characters I've ever seen in anime; this is top tier villainy
not joking
who turns their sibling into the opposite sex?

100% agree.  It's wholesome, but every time I watch it there ominous feeling that she's literally turned her brother's world upside down.  He's slowly changing to have different tastes.  And she doesn't even apologize for ruining his life.

No. You're just the type of person who can't understand when something shouldn't be viewed realistically in an anime.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

She literally turned her brother into a little girl.

I say she is pure evil, not even Aizen would go that far.

I am gonna be honest, I didn't feel like watching more the first episode because of this. Sure, he might like being a girl and the sister might have good intentions, but it is still kind of a sickening start to a story. It soured the whole show for me.

Also, for that one guy talking about wish fullfilment or whatever, it is not the neet part that is the issue. It is the whole drugging your sibling part...

I only really question her putting the potion into his drink in the beginning, the rest of the show she was not that bad.

Mihari comes off as a sociopathic person because of the writing early in the show. She comes off as someone who doesn't give a fuck about their brothers plights or his right to choose so she can have a cute little sister she can dress up and play with with her friends. The fact that the MC was a NEET is just a convenient excuse to throw his life upside down. And than have the gall to say she is doing him a favor. Horrifying!

If they wanted to her to come off as more kind in the start of the story then they could've written it as an accidental rather than a forceful gender bending. but the fact that the show basically brushes the transition under the rug regardless I can't help but feel is a bit distracting because realistically you'd expect more of a reaction. The MC is incredibly nonchalant about it all despite his whole life being changed. Better writing is needed 💢💢💢
