Personally, GXP is my least favorite Tenchi spinoff by far. I'm surprised this exists. The original wasn't exactly a big hit.

To be honest, I probably won't watch it. I've been hurt enough by the bizarre OVA sequels.

Personally I'm curious what they gonna do with the franchise since they decided to make it irrelevant that Tenchi is literally god.

Well on the bright side now, even if its shit and/or there's a drawing collapse, I can now say: ONORE DIKEIDO!!!

In all seriousness, I do not have high hopes for this one, considering that EXNOA (TIS) is heading production again after OVA 5. I'm kind of surprised that AIC RIGHTS/Toei isn't heading production, though its understandable that EXNOA is producing this, since it adapts the Paradise arc which helps to pad out OVA 4-5.

I might have said something like this once, but on rewatching all of Tenchi (except Shin/Tokyo) I realized GXP is easily my favorite part of the franchise. Everything else is weaker on rewatch, GXP is just great. Loved seeing the characters again in the recent OVAs, but I still haven't watched the final episode of OVA 5 because I didn't want it to be over.  

Maybe it helps that I have less nostalgia for GXP to live up to, since the old series were my introduction to anime when I was 12, while I didn't see GXP until after I graduated from university. I vastly prefer Kiriko and Amane over Ryoko and Ayeka. I wonder whether other Kiyone fans feel this way - we're a menace, aren't we? :P 

 I guess Seina's wives won't be around here, since it's Paradise War, but I'm looking forward to more Miron.

I used to love Tenchi Muyo!, it was my very first exposure to an anime series, 30 years ago.
I'd seen films before, but this was my first true series. Even if it was the OVA.

But unfortunately, it has turned into polygamy the anime which is a huge turnoff for me.
Personal preference I know, so to those who still enjoy it I wish you lots of viewing pleasure.

for me, and lets just connect every tangentially connected thing together. 

oav1 > special > oav2 > several of the tenchi mangas > war on geminar = gxp > dual parallels trouble adventures = photon > aspects of tenchi universe > aspects of tenchi in tokyo

of these I find war on geminar and gxp to be the most rewatchable because I cant quote them word for word everything past oav 2 I have not watched due to the art and the english va change rubbing me the wrong way enough... I should just watch them but no idea if im going to find what I like in tenchi in them and potentially retroactively ruining what I like in oav 1-s-2

A GxP OVA? I would've never thought it would get a followup, but given the dodgy quality of recent Tenchi OVA releases, I don't have high hopes.
