Holy shit. i thought this kind of anime will be popular/highly praised like JK mudazukai and asobi asobase did cuz of the absurdity of the jokes. where's y'all at. and is not even had 7+ rating😭

I think one of the reasons for Asobi Asobase's success was it's comedic timing, it was very offbeat and close to perfect. Even when the jokes weren't as funny, the soundtrack, the direction made it funny, not to mention the brilliant performances by the 3 voice actresses...

honestly the era of cute girls doing cute things died long ago and almost every single reiteration of it nowadays falls flat
to be fair my standards are surrealistically low and i nearly dropped this show within the first five minutes but everything from the characters to the way the writers take advantage of their respective traits is what makes this show so amazing
this show may be criminally underrated for what it is but a lot of the show at face value falls flat
it's clear as day it doesn't have any chance of blowing up anytime soon but we can only pray it slowly gains more recognition as it airs

JoshiMuda was and still is unpopular and it started out with a score below 7 during it's early episodes.

It's sad but the better anime are often not the ones who do well.

So far this anime has been so-so. I don't find it funny and it feels more like a waste of time so i can see why the low score.

The next episode decides whether i drop it or not.

Asobi Asobase is still leagues above this but on the other hand this is way more watchable than JoshiMuda was which I found to be a pretty all rounder "meh" with the exception of an episode here and there. I only scored that a 7 because some characters hard carried. lmao

notice how I said almost
haven't exactly seen bocchi yet but I've heard it barely even counts as one because it's actually centralised around depressing themes but since it's so refreshing it's actually making the high charts compared to a bunch of other anime this season

Nah, it's not really that depressing, it is still CGDT at its core. it's nothing like say "Watamote".
It is still for people who like cute girls doing cute things. It isn't hopeless or anything like that, it making high charts isn't just due to it having a theme of social anxiety, but due to how extremely well done it is/directed it is.

Troubled protagonists in CGDT is not unheard of either, you had stuff like Slow Start which is also deffo CGDT.

I think a reason for the popularity crisis this show has is that it’s made by a pretty low-tier studio. Production value in this anime is almost nonexistent. The end of the opening for example is literally a still image for like 10 seconds while the music is still going. It’s funny… at times, definitely not the best comedy this season. I think it’s also heavily overshadowed by the other 2 CGDCT shows this season. The rating of this show also isn’t going to help.

This is a great 6, literally the anime Failed in Convincing them that they really are friends and that Samire, who knows everything, has a reason for not turning her back and saying "it's not my problem". Nothing about him is impressive, one is a ninja, one is an alien and the other is a telepath and the other is a boy, this is the selling point of the series, I would be surprised if one of them was hiding a dead body, because all this is already beaten and to make matters worse none of the four You have a good reason to be there, mainly Sumire and the boy, as the concepts are already beaten and not even well elaborated they would at least have to deliver a good relationship with the world to your back, but the world is very small, there are only 4 people and in 7 episodes no one from the outside has come in to look at them and say "you guys are acting strange", so back to your question, This isn't popular because it's extremely basic, a 6, if you're in a bad mood it becomes a 5.4, you can't even say it had potential, because it didn't, on the other hand it didn't promise anything much and that's it delivering just that.

The first 2-ish episodes were also the weakest. So even if people did try it, a lot of them drop out very early and give it a low rating.

It's just been getting better since...
