| It wasn't her ex, tho, but some random dude, that never appeared on screen. He was just barely animated plot device, used so Sakura's death would be sudden and unexpected, thus more impactful. At the before of the movie, it was mentioned, that some killer is roaming the streets. There is also a theory, that Sakura deliberately exposed herself to the murderer, so the secret of her disease wouldn't go public and it would be Haruki, who would tell Sakura's friends the truth, effectively forming a bond between them, thus preserving Sakura's legacy. |

The death was an unexpected event that occurred, Haruki saw on the TV that some random person killed Sakura and then he regretted it, iirc he regrets that he wasn't by her side the whole time, he couldn't handle losing her, Haruki then went and started closing himself off again but stillcwent to Sakura's house to read what she left behind and literally broke down in tears and his regrets grew bigger. (Idk if im correct but this is what i think, been a long while since I watched the movie) |
