Hitogashima's head priest-cum-Hishigata's first doctor (Karakiri Masahito) whom loves playing FF7, both Shinpei and Ushio are on high guard despite his kind demeanor to understand the Shadows' copying process, which in turn gave rise to the Hiruko-sama legend, the Shadow sickness and the fated July 24th summer festival where all Shadows would exterminate everyone on the island. And as much as he tries to vehemently deny all involvement, he is in fact Shide a.k.a Shidehiko Hishigata, Haine's first procreated Shadow and where the mystery all began, the first human-Shadow hybrid, which became the four-armed Guardian.

Gathering evidence against Karakiri isn't as easy as the others have thought, and throughout the 7 loops of infodumping information that everyone could get, the big puzzle slowly pieces together between the Karakiris and the Hishigatas. And the one to trigger the copying process...is indeed Shidehiko, the one whom fathomed and abused the process of rebirth by copying over and over for Haine to become the perfect Shadow whom never ages.

Indeed, he's the culprit that will live until he sees Mother's awakening, and Shinpei can't pull the trigger, leading to Ushio slashing his head in half. Like what Shide mentioned: "This is not my end", and they were severely taken for a ride, for the real Shide lies in hiding to cut them off then and there. Not even Nezu nor Hizuru/Ryuunosuke could stop this sudden insanity...and the last loop, ended in failure for Shinpei to be brought back to his 8th loop...MINUS Ushio.

What. A. Episode. A revelation of the utmost insanity.

HOLY SH*T, it went form 0 to 100 really fast, like WTF, how does this keeps getting better? I wasn't expecting Shide to die so easily anyways but damn man.

Seems like Ushio's gone now, so I wonder how Shinpei will act from now on. I think there is a possibility that Ushio will come back since she did the flashing thing and said "notice" to Shinpei.

Worst episode of the show so far, in my eyes. Shinpei has enough experience looping to know how ridiculously dangerous Shide is, but decides to just chat with the guy about the origins of Shadows rather than just killing him (or at least attempting to) when he has the chance? Hell, he had the element of surprise at the start, cos it's not as if Shide knew that Shinpei had found out his identity. The events of this episode are not a series of decisions these characters would actually make in this situation, but ones that are made solely to provide exposition to the audience about the origins of the Shadows: no way in hell Hizuru and Nezu would agree to this braindead plan when there's such a clear chance to kill a highly dangerous enemy.

As for Ushio's "death", I feel absolutely nothing because it's Shinpei's fault for being so stupid and, more to the point, because she will very obviously be brought back with some cheap trick to turn the tides at some point in the next couple of episodes when things are at their darkest for Shinpei and co. They'll very obviously save her final death - when her Shadow dies for not being able to consume the original Ushio's data anymore - until the final episode for a tragic goodbye, unless they find some magic way to keep her alive indefinitely.

And the Shadows being aliens? Lame.

Shinpei clearly stated during the meeting with the team that "He was willing to risk one death in order to know why they killed shinpei's parents." Of course, sou's father already stated that they were killed since they dug too deep but i guess shinpei really wanted to know how deep and to confirm the reason truly why. Also, knowning that shide might already know the real motives of the shadows since he has been with them from the very start, all of the concerns and questions of Shinpei will be answered. I do agree with you though that Shinpei gravely made the worst decision as of not shooting shide immediately when they felt something wrong. However, we should already know that this is his way of handling things, "squeezing as much information as you can get in each loop". The only problem here is his "oversight or the illusion of him having the upperhand". During the meeting, we could feel as if shinpei had gotten used to dying which made him cocky, that he would just reset if things go wrong.

One other thing, in my opinion, i think the disclosure of the remaining hidden information in this episode wasn't forced. The conservation had a driving force which was to confirm Shinpei's thoughts. I also thought that the insert of the origin of the shadows was introduced well.

Attacking him with the element of suprise is still debatable though, them not knowing that shide had another clone would put them at a big disadvantage. It may even be worse as they could hypothesize that they have already killed shide so they might try to storm hiruko's lair immediately but in the end get ambushed just like in ep 12.

I must say Shinpei really fucked up here. He has been through about 5 loops now and he has seen how ruthless this Shidei guy is,with his guns and hammer and your telling me you want to have a chat with this guy first instead of straight up offing him!! Madness!

That was factored into their calculations. Him with the gun and Ushio on standby allowed them to kill the first Shide before he could transform. No matter how careful of Shide they were, none of them could have predicted that there'd be another clone nearby, right after they had just killed the original. This is a new enemy ability that none of them were aware of, and it's none of their fault for not seeing it coming.

This. They thought they had figured about the biggest mystery of the whole problem-- and they did. The problem is that there was no hint at all about the minor problem in the scheme of things-- two Shide's.

(I hate him so much now. I will never forgive him for what he did to best girl.)

What an insane episode. I keep thinking that there's nothing this show could do to surprise me more and then there it goes again with another insane reveal and plot development.

RIP Ushio. I am hoping she comes back in some way without it feeling too cheesy.

Sus is actually a real word and was correctly used here. It's just another way to say suspicious. It does feel a bit weird because of among us, but that's not what the subtitles are trying to reference.

Well, "sus" is a slang abbreviation for "suspect", which also fits well with the context of the speech they were making. I don't know what "sus" means for you but maybe you could enlighten me, as many people often think that the same abbreviations are used everywhere in the world (which is not, since every area has its own slang). So, what is "sus" for in your opinion?

What happens if instead of Hiruko having one child...she has two!...or more. I would assume that both of them would similarly grow up as identical clones of their father and each other in every way besides memories. Then at the moment of their "father"'s death what would happen if Hiruko copied his new data into to both shadow/human sons? Would we have two psuedo-human copies of Shide now? This is basically my theory of what is happening since Ushio didn't feel the presence of a shadow, and if only one clone got his hand burnt the other would be A-Okay!

That I don't understand, every other shadow regardless of death respawns once the loop restarts. I assumed that the only reason that there weren't multiple shadow Ushios running around everytime he brought the looped future version back is because only a single physical manifestation of a shadow can exist, so her being brought back overrides the Ushio that existed in the previous timeline. But if that was right, then Shide would know that even tho he killed the future version of Ushio's shadow, when Shinpei looped her previous version would be there as she was before...that apparently didn't work out to be the case.

From his perspective she's not really his "mom" she just some alien body factory he met on a beach that keeps granting him immortality. Doubt Shide actually gives a damn about Hiruko/Haine outside of that. Dude was already infinitely scarier than Hiruko/Haine before this little reveal...now it's more like he's just using her and providing her room and board in order to stay alive. Meanwhile what are Haine's motives besides eating?

This was such a great episode. Shide and Shinpei made some really great facial expressions this episode. With his true identity revealed and his twisted method of immortality exposed, Shide is hard to like. But I think he's an excellent villain. Hopefully Ushio isnt really dead, that'd make fighting the two shides impossible!

Haine wants to form a family to live with in the shadows world.

But yeah shide gives the impression that he doesn't give a shit about Haine. It's just his life insurance on legs.

I'm kinda confused. So Hishigata Shidehiko fucked Haine for over 300 years. Have a "biological kid" and erase the memory and replace it with Shidehiko's memory, and the kid, which in theory is Shidehiko, gets older and then she fucked Haine over and over again for 300 years? LMAO What the fuck did i just watch. And Karakiri Masahiko is just another young "kid" of Haine so that they could fool Ushio and Shinpei? Did i recall that correctly? In theory, Dad and Mom fucked and have another kid, and the kid suddenly become Dad and Fucked his Mom again. Is this incest or i just get mind fucked?

Damn what the fuck, well since Shidehiko child which later the memory gets replaced by Shidehiko itself, does it count as incest? Plus it is probably confirmed that any of Shidehiko children will always be a son and also always will be the perfect copy of himself, right? Because if Shidehiko have a daughter how would he repeat the process, lmao. Also i'm still confused about Karakiri part, mind explaining it to me? Is it really true Karakiri is just another clone of Shidehiko?
