He literally made a promise with Bisco to stay partners foreve. Milo said he loves him. Bisco came back from the the dead for Milo... They definitely ain't just homies.

I would understand your disappointment if I was complaining about some ship that could never happen, like Naruto x Sasuke, Deku x Bakugo, Levi x Eren, etc. Those thype of ships are entirely based on what we as viewers see and the way we interpret it, but those shows don't give us much space to ship. But here it feels like the show itself wanted to push us into that direction, to see the love between the two of them...

I know, that Milo unambiguously loves Bisco, but that's unrequited. You're reaching. There is no indication anywhere, that Bisco prefers sausage to taco.

Bisco and Pawoo is the official, canon ship.
And Bisco did not came back to life just for Milo, but for everyone.

I wholeheartedly agree that Bisco and Milo should have gotten together. They have good chemistry, they have been through a lot of hardships and their character designs are able to give them an “opposites attract” vibe (cool nomadic redheaded archer paired with soft panda-like blue-haired doctor from a big city). Then again, I’m a fruity guy so I do have a bias in saying that.

At the same time, despite the “I love you” in that particular episode, I understand why the creator - if they had any plans at all in going down that route - decided to shelve it. This franchise’s target demographic are clearly straight guys (many of whom couldn’t care for any BL story or loathe such stories). They’d much rather see Pawoo and Bisco together than Milo and Bisco.

Of course, I also want to see more cool and action-oriented shonen characters be in same-sex relationships, but at the same time, authors and the publishers they work with (which is where the vast majority of the anime stories we watch come from) are not our allies and I don’t expect them to be nor are they under any obligation to be one. In addition, they don’t like taking risks - especially if the risks are potential wedge issues that could give a certain segment of the community ammo in saying “that they’re weaving in an agenda.”

Frankly, the reality of it right now sucks. If you want to have your BL fix that’s shows a healthy relationship, you’re mostly like to find that in a story aimed at women (think Sasaki to Miyano). Just don’t expect cool concepts like the characters’ primary ride is a giant pet crab though.

In this particular case, they’re not just friends, at least from Milo’s side. The word he used for “I love you” was “aishiteru” and if I’m not mistaken, Japanese use it to express really strong and romantic love. I understand your arguments when it comes to character that truly have a friendship only dynamic but I don’t think that’s the case here.
