other than Indians may not know that
censorship soo much heavy here
maybe even greater than china(don't know what they do tho)
any hint of sexual scenes ,jokes are not just get censored but that scene is totally GET CUTTOFF...

that's why its good that Crunchyroll is doing dub , if series was in hands of indian studio to do dub and then air on TV scenes would be cutout

for example shinchan - a kid anime
many times i noticed that scene just cutoff and I didn't understand what just happened
later i realized that something like non veg jokes were there
like literally they were censoring a kid anime
then u can imagine what they would do with this one

Yeah we don't get censorship, they directly just delete the scenes πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.
Best example Shinchan
EDIT: Oh I didn't realize everything I just said you already mentioned them πŸ˜…

If this show was to air on Indian TV, so many scenes would be cutoff that it would be only 5-6 episodes.

I'm not a dub person either, but anime getting hindi dubs is pretty good for the medium's general reach and mainstream appeal in the region.

Bruh, Shinchan is not a kid's Anime. It's Manga is literally Seinen so it's meant for adults.

Still don't understand why they censor "girlfriend" or "boyfriend" when romance movies is one of the most popular genre in India.

In fact, the entire series would get cut off lol. This Anime isn't meant for kids.

I agree too.

Also,
If TV channels were to broadcast anime, then it would be seen as cartoon with only 5-8 y.o viewership. Masterpiece like Vinland Saga can just straight up ban. Mass media like Crunchyroll or Funimation, OTT platform like Disney+ and Netflix, would have greater weight in that case. It can be comparable with Web Series and other dark shows. To be honest, kids under 12, don't have the capability to enterpret anime and it's complex plot, so it's a waste to broadcast anime in channels as instead of making anime popular it will ruin it's reputation. The fact Crunchyroll is coming to India solely makes me happy

Shows on OTT platforms are always uncensored or uncut so this was expected

It's a different case if the studio itself made any censorship (happened in case of some web series) but that won't happen if crunchyroll have strict guidelines for translation change..

Plus, it's getting aired on Sony Yay I heard. On kid's channel. Who even watches that channel anyway?

firstly there's an ecchi tag in shin Chan series and its good that they dub it in Hindi and made my childhood great if there were some oppai comedy we surely wouldn't watch it with our parents itd good they censored it and gave us such a masterpiece for our childhood my mom really like shinchan

its looks good on the surface but here in India ppl who are not into anime will not watch it most of the times they don't care I could give you an recent example of dbs dub
after dbz majin buu saga was dubbed in Hindi and aired on tv I watched it in my childhood and wanted to see what happens next when I know about how an english version was available I didn't watch it bec it was in English I was hoping for a hindi dub but didn't get it in the 4 years of gap I grow tired of waiting and started watching the little clips of dbs in sub and found the voice of goku really hilarious times goes by and I found myself in to anime
many people like me have already watched the db series we were happy by the fact its getting an dub but we could care less to tune in at 9 PM watching patiently on cartoon network tv everyday like old days they are gone ppl who were serious about db have already watched it in any version they get at that time
its good start of anime being aired in India but it mostly about kid anime
I doubt something like Dn,Ds,AoT,and many big names will ever enter in the market of India if they contained least bit of gore violence I'm hoping crunchy roll would dub more popular anime so I could recommend it to ppl who aren't able to understand English well

Dragon Ball Super isn't a very fair example. For starters, it hasn't been marketed to a wider audience. With the rest of Cartoon Network's kid friendly catalogue in India, it doesn't quite have the same reputation as its Adult Swim counterpart in the US.
Nobody in their teens would watch Cartoon Network in India, not with their current programming atleast. There's that.

Secondly, Dragon Ball doesn't have a wider appeal. Most people who are of age and still watch Dragon Ball are ones who have a nostalgic factor at play, having seen the show as children. Or either actual children, who watch the channel regularly and stumble upon the show.

I believe that Dress-up Darling and Ousama Ranking are experiments, being recently released acclaimed shows. The shows you mentioned have the mainstream appeal for wider audiences, but you've got to admit, they aren't cheap to license. Crunchyroll is testing the waters with these two shows, and if it works, you'll have mainstream shows come on as well. A very straightforward and simple business strategy.

yess seems logical to experiment with a dress up darling which i guess gonna appeal lot to horny (fanservice a another way to pull in audience)
and ousama ranking which is more apprecialted among people who appriciate s tory, character development
if both or either one succeed will decide how to choose series to dub
