| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- POOR AMANE OMGGG 😭 she went through 4 types of abuse because she helped an idol fan with an injury. Being part of a religious cult meant that breaking any rules would lead to punishment. That's why she kept talking to 'Kamisama'. She got electrocuted, waterboarded, physically beat, and brainwashed. She Madoka Magica transformed with her angel wings and electric wand. It's not obvious from the video, but from milgram.jp lore hints, she used a bat to beat the person she helped to death. The animal/person she helped in the beginning is missing from the last few scenes...they're dead. You can see the symptoms of brainwashing at the end. No child should ever have to go through that. I'm voting to forgive because she couldn't control her actions. The reason she got hit in the beginning is likely because she blocked off the symbol of the cult's god:  Starting at 2:57, you can hear 2 voices, both of Amane, and the hidden voice sounds like a kid whose mind is about to break 😱 ALSO, THE FLOOR IS SPLATTERED IN BLOOD HOLY CR*P! I am convinced the stars are blood splatter now or soundwaves bouncing off from the impact of the person who died.  |

At one point, it sounds like she is saying something different... I wonder if someone has remixed the audio to decipher that. I believe I saw that comment as well and my rebuttal, (although everyone has a right to their own opinion) is that she’s a child who never had her own autonomy. Can we really blame Amane for ending up in a religious cult whether or not it was by choice? From the beginning of the video, it appears she really does want to just lead a happy life. She can’t control her child abuse. She did the right thing and she got punished for it. My evidence to counteract the fact she doesn’t know what she did was wrong is the fact that there are two voices as I mentioned earlier, the religious cult she is part of as you said has a god with two faces. It’s a powerful metaphor for how two-faced the actual cult members are. And by that logic, it appears Amane has two personas as well, which fits with Amane’s idol costume. I have no evidence for this other than other anime, but there’s nothing saying that she can’t be snapped out of the brainwashing. She’s been trained to show no empathy and what not, but reading between the lines, the happy music video is her way of adhering to the rules while also showing us behind the scenes what is actually happening. The lyrics show that she wants to be a ‘good girl’. Now I know that most people agree that she thinks that what is right is whatever the cult demands, even if it is murder, but since she has a second voice or persona, it could be that her true feelings are being suppressed so she has no choice but to leave way too subtle hints so she doesn’t get punished again. Obviously this is my opinion, and I might be wrong, but I really want to believe this kid is good at heart. I don’t know what I would’ve done in her situation, but I can only hope she still has potential to undo her brainwashing. |

I don't think she is at fault at all, but most of my thinking comes from the fact that we don't actually know what happens with forgive/guilty. But the fact that there is a second voice at the timestamp you pointed out does give evidence that a part of her is screaming out. Additionally, the last shot shows her looking quite dead inside. Honestly, I could go either way on this. If forgiving means saving her from a a cruel punishment or death, I'm all for that. But if forgiving means she doesn't get the therapy she seriously needs, then I'm more hesitant. |

I don't know what the verdict will do as well, but I see it as a potential death penalty type of trial where the audience is the jury. I don't know what the intentions of DECO*27 and any other staff members working on the series are planning, but if they are planning to get everyone to eventually vote guilty for all the prisoners by the last trial, they are sly bastards 😂 If they are planning to get everyone to vote to forgive eventually, I think that would also be interesting, and possibly more satisfying! If not I am biting my teeth 😬 |
