At least in helpful fox senko-san "Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san" you'd see some rays of sunshine, this one, I don't know.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.

it's really "pure depression" i mean a baby little kid, alone and a ghost...isn't that mean she will not grow up, her life only that, there is no one within her age that can be asked to play peek a boo, sand building and so on....it make me depresed! how cruel the parents having a thirst with co-worker then do abortion.

espwcially when she choose rice balls..."there are so many (but only 4) oh there is salmon roe ^_^....oh god T_T

You know what would make the sad, empty life of a corporate slave a lot less soul-crushing and depressing?

Dead toddler.

The only thing I found kind of sad was the box labelled "my box", as if just that tiny box holds everything that Yuurei-chan wants to store, or, as if she's so completely alone that "my box" is a sufficient label to distinguish that box from any others.

I mean if you think about why you would need a cure for depression then yea I guess

My biggest regret: Reading all 200+ chapters of Kanojo, Okarishimasu

You say that because it exposes the truth about working in multi corporations.. that's how majority are treated and sometimes people just quit and become shut in..or die from overworking and exhaustion..

I would love to be haunted by cute little ghost girl. Cause my life sucks and work sucks too.

I am pure depression.

___ ___ ___

Also, this anime is based on "Actual" Japan work life...

Japan have one of the highest rate of death from overworking in the entire world.

So much, that Japan is trying to make it a 3 days off a week and 8-10 hours max a day.

But companies gets to choose if they want to or not... and majority doesn't want to.

(Japan also have one of the lowest birth rate in the entire world.... so... yea... fast death, low birth... bad combo)

It isn't even the "can't grow up" and "can't play with other kids" what makes it depressing.
It's the "she died as a little kid" what does it.
So something VERY bad must've happened to her in the past.

It's already been implied her mother worked herself to death, which is why she's so adamant about Shachiku-san going home early. One can only guess what happened to her after that and all of them are really horrifying.

There are some slightly depressing subtleties ever present in the anime, like the fact that Yuurei died young and has been alone for so long or the fact that Shaciku's work-life is eerily similar to many real life examples, but the wholesome moments far outweigh everything else. There were a couple of dramatic tonal shifts early on in the show, but now seven episodes in and it's getting even more cuter.
